  • Very good work, take it to a higher scale and make something fly. I am not kidding.

  • Hi, You have the circuit that you use for this demostration? Can you send me it? Very Thanks! Pablo

  • @rh25com

I show it at the end of the vid :-)

  • I noticed you did not use a magnet on the toroid like Lasersabre had done. As he was not able to explain the effect of the magnet on the top, it just made the circuit run better some how.

  • @acidflash03

I think he used that magnet to change the permeability of the core and quiet down the noise. In this vid I was more or less just showing how easy it is to put together. I've been very pleased with how simple it is to work with.

  • @min2oly I plan i making the same thing as well for my shed, going to pick up some solar panels from harbor freight as well. i already have a inverter. Pretty good idea though and pretty informative as i am a beginner in electronics.

  • just wondering but if the primary or secondary coil are adjusted for resonance does the input power sugnificantly drop?

  • @gallowaymartin

    yes :-)

  • Very nice, good glow. Watch out for the mercury vapour if you break one, you have to open all the windows and leave the room for 15 minnutes, according to The Government ! God knows what happens to the vapour you swallow while running around opening windows ;+}

  • @deepcut66

thanks for the tip - crazy stuff eh...

  • Nice demonstration. Can you provide a link to that schematic? pls. It would be an interesting experiment to use a photo sensor to test the light output of the LEDs vs CFL with the same input. I hope that the LEDs are superior due to the environmental concerns over CFLs. Not a big fan of CFLs. Thanks for the video.

  • @mnsman1

    thanks,

I updated the description w/ the links

  • @min2oly The link works great. Thx. Duh! I should have known it was at lasersaber's website. Been following him too and haven't taken the time to check out his site. Thanks again.

  • i haven't gotten my JT's to work yet but i would be interested to know how bright you would be able to pump the cfl before the transistor begins to overheat too much

  • @neuthral

it's all about balance with these ckts. this toroid brings this CFL to its full potential at about 600mA 12 volts or 500mA 6 volts - the transistor does not heat up. another main item to play with is the cap.

Dr. Stiffler's SEC can still provide more light at much lower amp draw so far.
