That's a few minutes that I will never get back, MJP works great if you know how to use it as we have it and no problems at all! You just need HIGH SPEED INTERNET not medium speed or slow speed internet that's when you get the hang ups.

I agree that there is a problem with magicjack plus. I had one for two days and had to send it back. I really did NOT like the problem it has when I call SOME local phone numbers and all it does is give me 3 fast busy tones in my ear then it disconnects with no explanation. Google it, apparently it's a big problem with magicjacks service to some numbers. It just WON'T phone them. Plus the people who before me had this problem and bugged magicjack support everyday about it all they eventually go

Hi, ma'am! I have had Magic Jack for a year. It does have minor problems, but it works okay as a second phone line. I've never had a problem that I needed to talk to support. Perhaps yours was defective? The software installed well on my computer and I can make calls and receive them. I don't get dropped calls.

I think it's your computer, I have been using the magic jack for over 3 years, the only problem I have had, also the speed of your internet connection affects the way the magic jack performs. Originally I paid 59 dollars for 5 years (now it's 69), this is the greatest phone line ever! And the magic jack has gotten even better, magic jack plus where you don't need a computer to use it! :)

I've been using the Magic Jack for almost 2 years now. Never had a problem with it.

Just popped it in the USB port, followed the instructions, and it worked fine.

I did NOT put it in a pristine computer. I have it stuck in a 5-year old computer with anti-virus and dozens of other programs.

$20 a year, and it works as well as my previous phone service, which was costing me $360/year.

In my opinion,Its better than "bell",ect ect,long distance across the USA & Canada,as well you can take the magic jack like *anywhere**,like if your at your friends house,and they have bell,but you need to make a ld call,this is another reason this products so much better.

I have a "dry - loop " ,it basically means that your Bell jack will *ONLY* be active for their internet service ,you cannot make calls of coarse.

Then I got "Bells" cheapest internet,Essential Plus.

Total cost for my phone&internet service combined monthly - $40.90 / month.

Dry-Loop is *free**.

This price gives me Long distance anytime day/night/weekends/all-day across Canada&USA,and 3 call features.Ive saved at least 45-50,up to 200.00+ on long distance calls monthly alone.

I bought one not long ago and was amazed at how well it worked. Then I set one up for my dad, my sister and my brother. All worked awesome. I setup a few for friends and had an issue with one PC... his computer was bogged down with malware. Not sure what your issue is, but I have installed several and they all work great!

Alot of the problem people are having with their magic jack has to do with their PC and Internet connection. If you have an old PC with barely memory and crappy processor. you are going to have problems with magic jack. Also the proper internet is a huge must to have a working magic jack. Do not use majic jack if you have dial up internet or satellite. this is design more for broadband.

Take that junk back to Chinamart NOW! You will have nothing but headaches with it. Your far better off with VOIP through Vonage or phone service through your cable company if you use broadband cable internet. I'd would have recommended Ooma, which is what I have, since it was a $200 fee and then no more phone bill at all, but they changed their business model so you now pay around $200 and pay roughly $12 a month thereafter. Original customers are grandfathered in and still pay no monthly fee.

You have to have a clean computer for MJ to work correctly. Try a program called "ccleaner" to wash out all your junk. Porn is a definite no no. Mine works great and has been fine for the past 6 months. Before that i was getting a stutter every now and then. Now i'm saving a bundle. I love the Magic Jack.

1. MJ does allow 30 mins of talk time before registration. IDK why you have issues with that.

2. Your problems have nothing to do with the magicJack or the company, just your obviously messed up computer or Internet connection. When programs such as the mj softphone hang up, that means there are problems with your computer - physically(slow hardware) or software wise(Windows errors or viruses).

continuing... not to bash you about the computer you are using, but anytime you have trouble with the magicJack, the computer is to blame since it is responsible for running the software and MJ device. Soon, Vocaltec will have the new MJ Plus released, which doesn't require the computer to place/receive calls as it connects directly to the internet(you will still have to connect it to the computer to register the device).
