All discussions on any laws should be videotaped when being recorded on paper (or the written word digitized). That way, we won't need to debate the reasoning behind laws all the time. Good observation about youtube, although it should be pointed out that youtube crippled its own progress by reconfiguring comments so that replies are posted elsewhere. There is no continuity to the conversations in comments. It's too bad because there are some interesting replies below, and we have no idea what the original comment may have been.
It's fascinating that merely seeing and empathy can cause so much change and invention. This is why a sound/audio desktop for the blind and or tactile interface should be created for their knowledge to further add to everyone's life.
Does one think about the future and learn from the past and present? Is that innovation? Perhaps innovation needs freedom of speech. Today more people have that choice too.
The beauty in global innovation is that we form trade partners with every exchange of thought. This trade has value once the thoughts are transformed into a tangible solution or product. Our thoughts are the first form of trade to enhance global trade.
Besides the innovation, web also brings another very important thing to the picture: it does rise the bar for innovation. Few people would get praised for doing a so-so job. You need to be doing something really well to stand out of the crowd.

yup, always to put things in perspective, you need a prominent stage to start off. Instead of commenting under articles, you set up a website; instead of posting 1-2 minutes videos in youtube which people see as "not of quality", we post at least 5-minute videos; instead of only written thesis you post descriptive videos in JOVE. I very much like his message of a global group, but all this information has been discussed before and even in video, maybe even by a British man. However what we need to do is find a way to refine our information, too much data is repeated over and over again, hiding the gems of knowledge that haven't been discovered yet. I see 3 problems with this idea:
1 - There's a lot of hate on youtube.
If you scroll down the comments of most videos, you can find a lot of antagonism (words like "idiot" or "stupid" or worse are not uncomon)
2 - Not all ideas are good.
An idea appears and you implement it, only to find out later that it doesn't work (or worse it creates a new problem).This is counterproductive.
3 - Time.
We don't have the time to listen to what everyone is saying. And if everybody is talking, who is listening?

Sorry, but you're not saying anything new, you're just anaylzing why YouTube works. Well its simple its not the Light/Desire/Crowd its simply because it gives you the opportunity to express yourself. The success of this simple forumla is based on the hippocritical socciety that everyone is living in. God forbbid you show a human emotion or a feeling and you're "Strange", that in essence is what digital revolution is all about. Not some dancers shooting themselves. Although they are example too.

Ah, so TED thinks the 'crowd' is plundering the planet? What an interesting opinion. I think it's greedy corporations, such as BP and unethical industry driven by widening it's profit margins. Most people are just running on the wheel the elite build and tax. Kind of douchey to blame the individual, or expect them to somehow take up the slack from mass polluters. 9 billion people isn't the problem, the problem is the BPs of the world trying to make a few extra million by not installing safety.

The internet is making us as close to being psychic as we had ever dreamed. I am not some big brained super futuristic human reading minds across the world. A computer and video makes that happen. If there is a disturbance in the force I can see it, feel it, almost taste it on You Tube. My husband says this is probably the way we should explore space. All of us all at once threw some avatar. Not to mention THIS is why every human is valuable.

this was certainly the case a few years ago when youtube had a much more hands of approach and didnt really promote videos. this day in age youtube is becomming more and more like tv, where you only get to see what you are supposed to see, which is things that doesent challenge your perspective on the world which you were so carefully given.

I very much like his message of a global group, but all this information has been discussed before and even in video, maybe even by a British man. However what we need to do is find a way to refine our information, too much data is repeated over and over again, hiding the gems of knowledge that haven't been discovered yet. I don't see how these kind of innovation, dance, unicyclist, etc. will solve world hunger and over population. You need innovation in agriculture and energy and not sure how youtube video will solve that. Because the desire for these people is crowd recognition which may or may-not earn any financial reward.
