I just wonder if LARA knows that a lot of people think she is the perfect singer. .....this song or any other song.... she has touched the souls of many....
This song was written for sarah brightman. she sang it in concerts. When her then husband was writing the phantom asked if he could use the song he wrote for her in the show but her character would not be singing it. she said ok. She was the first to do it. So actually this written for a woman and so it sounds find with a female singing it.
D'ailleurs pourquoi Sarah fait-elle des duos qu'avec des hommes?
Les autres femmes aussi avoir de belles voix et surtout cela permettrait que certaines divas dont le marketing les rend soit disant unique d'être remis à leur place!
I love the Phantom of the Opera. I haven't seen the play yet. I've seen a few movies. I've seen Phantom of Paradise based on this and on Faust. J'adore Lara Fabian.
On a second viewing of this video I realise it is Lara Fabian singing, I am sorry for disputing it but I personally didn't like her singing this song and just did not think it was Lara, it was so harsh no light and shade not as brilliant as she usually sings her songs yet I am an avid fan of her's. Thanks for putting me right.
LARA, maybe you should contact Andrew Lloyd Webber to create something that would be out of this world. Two huge talents together ....!!! Two geniuses together cannot fail to produce something for the ages.
I love her rendition of this song the best. I've heard other opera singers perform this and although they were all good, they don't compare to this. And yes, I realize Lara is not an opera singer.
I could never imagine a woman singing this song...I mean it's a seductive song and should be sung by a man...but the way she sang it ...wow...she made it hers...it didn't reminded me of the Phantom at all ...I could only hear her angelic voice...(and I am a die hard Phantom of the Opera fan).
Well, the song was originally written for a woman and then later given to the Phantom's character. So you are hearing it here closer to how Lloyd Webber first imagined it.
First it had totally different lyrics and was for a female character in a different show. Then it was rewritten for Phantom but meant for the character of Christine. Then it was rewritten again for the character of the Phantom. Some years ago, Lloyd Webber was given a "Living Legend Award" and Sarah Brightman sang the song on TV for it. Same special had several ALW songs. Also, the same night, Willie Nelson won the same award. In case you are interested in tracking it down.
@kelanti Don't you know, that this is a WOMANs Song? Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote it for his (then) wife Sarah Brightman, for the musical ASPECTS OF LOVE. It was called MARRIED MAN then.
@culturemp3dotcom Do you have the mp3 to this? I've been looking for it,I could send you my email address, if you would like. I'm obessed with this song, and she sings it best of all the video performances I've seen of it.

I like it even though we are so used to listening to male voices singing it.

She is a great singer, and this is a great song. But I really don't like her rendition.
This is a totally mismatch.

There's nothing wrong with the singing, it's the song: mediocre at best.
How anyone can sit through most Broadway productions amazes me.

I would say she made it her own ----- but I dont think thats true , I think it needs that touch of evil the male voice gave it .
