Both Mr George Harrison... (A very underrated multi-instrumentalist musician) and Mr. Ringo Starr (One of the best drummers ever) are excellent in their fields ...check out Ringo's drumming on this one... and George playing Hammond organ & others... I love John & Macca... but George was the first Beatle researching other fields after quiting touring... In a sense , George showed the rest the way... Steve Ferrone, Phil Collins & other Great drummers stated that Ringo was among the best ones♪
I'm not into the pro or con discussion regarding who's got talent and who has not. I just listen to music and like or dislike. Some of Georges songs actually appeal to me way more than other Beatles songs. I don't try ton understand why, I just do
@teppo51 - Yes. I know that in this culture people often sit down with in front of 700 channels of cable TV, switching channels all day and night without really knowing WHY. Some folks get married with people without really knowing WHY or have kids without knowing WHY. Some people go bowling and own large trucks without ever using the truck to transport things....without knowing WHY. Yes, there's LOTS of people who never ask WHY. You listen to Harrison because he's a lot like you. Mediocre.
Can anyone help me? I'm 12 years old and I'm writing a report on the Beetles. I know all about the grate John Lennon and the other jenius Pawl McCarty and that "Ringo" guy...but who is Gorge Harristone? The only thing I can find about him is that he used to playgerice...plagger....plajiar ice....plager ize ...oh, dang! He used to STEAL songs from poor black groups (The Chiffons?). Anyway, that doesn't sound very nice. Why did the Beetles let such a creepy guy into the band?
To all the people who think George wasn't talented: the only reason his songs were refused was the over-inflated egos of both Lennon and McCartney. Don't get me wrong, I like both John and Paul but I think the band was not only about the talent but also about personality. And George was in a lost position, effectively surpressed by John, Paul and George Martin who would rather put Revolution 9 on the album instead of Not Guilty or Sour Milk Sea....
Yeah, George was the MINOR Beatle. Frankly, I think Ringo had more overall talent than the superstitious George Harrison. His jangly guitar playing was 2nd only to his jangly solo singing. Little wonder the Beatles refused to record much of his music!
@thegrinchl7 George's guitar playing was technically speaking as good as Paul's and way better than John's. Yes he lacked in the department of improvisation but his technique was excellent and if you don't play guitar you shouldn't argue with that. Ringo has no talent at all - all his songs are written or co-written by other artists (including John, Paul and George).
@thegrinchl7 You simply don't understand The Beatles. George was younger and nobody though of him as a composer. He started writing songs a good few years after L-MC wrote Love Me Do (uuuuh, super great song, isn't it? very complex and melodic!). More than that, Lennon usually wrote songs together with McCartney, while Harrison used to work alone. After the band split up we had one or two good albums from them but it quickly turned out that their songs weren't that good anymore.
@nightcrawler511 - The Beatles were not about guitars. Their signature sound didn't come from George's PLANK PLANK PLANK pedestrian guitar playing. Their fame was built on words, melody and HARMONY. They were THAT good. SO good, that not even George's weak guitar playing couldn't hurt it.
@nightcrawler511 - Again...the Beatles were not about "guitars". It didn't matter who was "the best" guitar player. John Lennon wasn't the best "guitar player" in much the same way he wasn't the best auto mechanic. The Beatles were all about lyrics, melody and harmony. If you listen to George's accompaniment to "Here, There and Everywhere"...you'll see what I mean. Strictly as a guitar accompaniment, it is embarrassing. Almost as if it were a demo...not intended for release. It's THAT sloppy.
Ugh! Poor George! Never had much of a command over lyrics or melody. Little wonder the Beatles and George Martin refused to record so many of his songs.
Great tune & if you know the meaning behind the song then it's an even better song. Can't believe people knocking George?? one of Britains best ever musicians being branded as useless! ? He would have been the lead in any other band!!! I think people should listen & read more before knocking him. He wrote some some faboulous tunes whilst with the fab four & you only have to listen to his stuff after the Beatles on the "best of darkhorse" to see how talented he was. in a word LEGEND !!!
@Toady373 George seems to attract the less educated fan base. You never see this kind of poor spelling and grammar in a John Lennon chat room. George's fans are forever bringing up "Something" and "Gently Weeps", forgetting to mention his other 200 HORRIBLE attempts at music. John helped George write the lyrics for "Gently Weeps" while Paul helped George with the melody for "Something". George could've been replaced by YOU or ME. By the way, it's "YOU'RE a dumb ass" as in "YOU ARE", not "YOUR".
@FrightwoIf Guess what you dumb ass, I don't give a shit about grammar. You are another fucktard on youtube that cares about grammar. I fucking understand it's not your, it's you"re but I really don't give a shit listen to the music dumbass don't ridicule some one on their opinion. I love all The Beatles equally, so shut your fucking mouth. I go to Paul, John, George and Ringo videos and talk just like I do here. you obviously don't like The Beatles. John was not the only member dip shit.
@Toady373 Bravely spoken, scooter! Sorry to break it to you, but not all things are equal. There are realities that go well beyond your limited teen fantasies (and one can only HOPE you're a teenager with such awful grammar and spelling). If John Lennon is a gourmet dinner and a bottle of wine at the Four Seasons in New York, than that would put George Harrison somewhere in the league of a Cheeseburger and a coke...and maybe a bag of fries...SUPER SIZED! Got it, Opie?
@FrightwoIf I like how you called me Scooter, because my name was actually going to be that. Yes, there are not equals but they aren't that far from each other. John may have had more hits and stuff, but it's a personal preference. BTW I am 14
@Toady373 Well, OK Scooter! But start paying closer attention to your communication skills. Trust me, it matters. There isn't anything more important that a person who knows how to organize his thoughts. Not even George Harrison knew quite what was bothering him. He was so busy being a Bealte! Good luck, Dude!
@FrightwoIf lol you had a typing error (you said "More important that" I believe you meant to say "Than"). And yes I agree with you, I need to organize my thoughts more but I do not really care when I'm on Youtube.
@Toady373 Hey, Scooter! You're not supposed to catch me making mistakes! Yeah. The internet and Youtube is sort of a wasteland. Not much matters here, I suppose. Still, you can rehearse some pretty bad habits here. Have a great life, kid!
@FrightwoIf Let me guess, you are Paul McCartney's fan, aren't you? I bet you have a little shrine in you bedroom and every day you pray to the greatness of one and only genius of all the music on the world. Sadly there are more people like you all over the world. Good thing is that there is only very small percentage of them and they are all mentally disturbed. And that means you are an idiot too. So sorry.
Love the organ for this song, accompanied by Ringo's tasteful drum fills. Very Steve Winwood sound, indeed. I wonder if that was a Hammond B3...

All the Beatle Noise was stripped out! Thats what made this song brilliant.

I understand the Beatles. I LOVE the Beatles.
What I see in George Harrison is the same quality
I see in Ringo Starr. That is to say, THANKS FOR
THE CONTRIBUTION, BUT YOU CAN LEAVE
NOW! Nobody needs Ringo or George! They were
basically studio musicians! That's all. They supported
John and Paul.

@gietek - I do not kneel at the altar of celebrities...
Beatle or otherwise. While I admire John Lennon
and respect Paul McCartney music, I find George
Harrison's talents dubious. He was a good soldier,
did what he was told but I do not confuse this for
"talent". To suggest a conspiracy does NOT explain
years of HO-HUM regard for George's music. Except
for George's 2 or 3 good songs (which came near the
end of the Beatle era) the bulk of George's RINKY-
DINK music lacked Beatle quality.
