  • I believe that the difference is Grand Marnier is cognac based while Cointreau is brandy based.

I just found this, and it makes me think to your brandy alexanders where you use cognac instead. Showing again the ablity to interchange cognac and brandy. As it seems you prefer cognac over brandy I can only guess you like Grand Marnier more then Cointreau but how noticable is the difference in tase.

If I was to buy 1 which 1 should it be and why, Thanks for the lessons & great tips

  • @thebigz198506 depends on what type of drinks you want to make, some margarita's call for Grand Marnier. If I had a choice, I'd probably buy Cointreau as it's got more of an orange taste. If you like orange that is... otherwise, go with Grand Marnier.

  • When I made my Alaskan Duck Farts my stepdad who used to bartend made this which is essentially the same thing but with grand marnier over whiskey which is obviously more preferable for most guests.

What do you think on the difference between Grand Marnier and Cointreau, I understand the basic cognac/vodka base taste difference but whats your opinion in mixing application, need both one more then the other. Both run $35 so the quality is in the base of cognac. Whats your opinon/favorite?

  • @thebigz198506 I change it up every now and then when something calls for more orange like liqueur. If I want lots of nice orange peel/zest I usually go with Cointrea, if it's more smooth I may pick Grand Marnier but sometimes the cognac sorta distracts from it. So, when I choose I move between Tuaca, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Patron Citronge and a few others.

  • @Jannothy awesome!

  • you also can burn it using Rum(70-80)...or using countrea...or countrea+rum on top)))

  • i love this drink :D

  • Think I could get Fred Schneider to drink one of those with me?

  • ahahahha ya there his glasses lay off man

  • There my glasses, I'll touch what I want :)

  • @wertos222222 wanna try to spell better?

  • If you use cointreu it looks nicer... plus you can light it and drink it with a straw!just my opinion =P

  • hahaha

  • Less talk, more drink!

  • Well, most of our audience says quite the opposite. Probably because you can watch people drinking alcohol anywhere on the Internet.

Our show is more about how you make it, what you're going to get when you're done and if it's worth your time and effort to try it for yourself.

But, regardless, thanks for the comments and input!

  • Take it ez, Charlie. I'm just one of those guys that don't pay no mind to the 'name' of what's hitting my stomach, i just care that it haz the booze it it!

    Nice channel.

  • Sorry if that seemed up front or harsh, I didn't mean it that way (but text doesn't always do justice). But, I mean, I've actually had people send me e-mails if I don't explain it enough :-) I think it's entertainment factor, space filling factor and many folks just like to learn a tidbit of neat facts about what they're drinking.

I also didn't care, once upon a time, back in college. It was all about "how fast" not "what" :)

  • I didn't mean to sound stupid, but i did. I'm a power drinker who inhales beer and cooks food.

    Sorry 'bout that

  • lol, best quote ever! "I didn't mean to sound stupid, but I did. I've got to use that!
