I know this video is about hope...But i gotta say Christie Rampone is one awesome defender. She has def deserved everything she has and more. She is an awesome captain.
I am also a goalkeeper and I just have to say so quotes from other goalkeepers" the goalkeeper loves the ball the best. Everyone else kicks it. Only the... Keeper hugs it!". "the penalty is the one thing keepers don't fear... If it is scored, no one blames him. If he saves it he's a hero!"
I am a goalie myself, had lots of blows to the ribs, ankles and knees. The first thing that will be asked is if you can finish the game. I always say yes. A goalie is a hard head and won't give up that easily. Hope is just like that, never giving up, until she has to.
I'm a Hope Solo fan. I will start with that. But you know, everyone doesnt have to freak out if shes hurt. We have 2 backup AMAZING keepers too. Those two other ladies couldve went it. Nicole would've done an amazing job though shes no Hope Solo and Jill wouldve done great too. What im trying to say is Hope is THE BEST but dont count out Barney and Loyden. But hey, thats just my opinion.
@LegitUSWNTFan I completely agree with your comment. Hope is badass, no question but Barney and Jill are phenomenal too. As a fellow US WNT fan, I think we are lucky to have THREE amazing keepers. I'm glad Hope wasn't badly hurt either. And not to take anything away from Rampone; that was a really nice save. I almost had a heart attack during that, but she was there to bring my heart rate back down :)
I have so much respect for her, since seeing an interview where she said she could have stayed down for four min and potentially won the game but she didnt because she not only didnt want to win that way but didnt believe that japan should of gone out like that
Haha, I love how everyone was totally freaking out that Hope was hurt. Boxx, Wambach, Lloyd, Rampone, O'Rielly, Krieger are all like "Oh shit..." Good thing Solo stayed in, I think we would have lost by even more goals had she been taken out.
@Melanielovesmusic100 there was an interview when she said she felt guilty for being on the ground because the fans would think she was faking it to put time on the clock. she said she was in a lot of pain when in happened

@ussoccerhopesolo Haha, I didn't actually post that comment, but she was interviewed on Good Day LA, and she mentioned it, so maybe check youtube for that interview? Not too sure where to find anything else on it, because I recall her mentioning it once before the LA interview. Hope this helps :/

@ussoccerhopesolo i saw several interviews where she talked about it. i think she was kinda blaming herself for taking that medical timeout, she was truly hurt and couldn't continue but she didn't want the german fans and everyone in the stadium think that she's playing gamesmanship by wasting time. so she continued on. others would have milked it and simply kill time. she said she feel so bad about that loss that she thought maybe she should have done that..something like that....

She said though in the world cup that she wanted to play the fair way. Which is not wasting time and things. @Melanielovesmusic100 yeah, i noticed that too, lol. i mean it is the dying minutes of the game, you wouldn't want a fresh goal keeper coming in...and hope saves the most difficult shots. but this time i think everyone got kinda rattled and lost focused a bit, the goal by sawa was quick and watching it on replay i think it even bounced off abby...just luck, you know. not like abby's goal against brazil where it was a great deliberate shot. anyway, i'm sure they'll bounce back even stronger.
@joie1020 ya I think that if it did not bounces off of Abby Hope would have had a better chance of saving that shot and ya i think that everyone lost alittle focus when Hope got injured.
Boxxy is too sweet...always taking care of her teammates. they're all great about making sure they're okay. But Boxxy always seems to always be there

like male soccer has Stekelenburg, Cassillas, Czech, Neuer etc etc.
but female soccer only has her, take good care and have fun.
