I don't like when animals suffer nor when they die, but this is part of commandos training and this is how they survive out there. They need to learn how to hunt for food, but also how to kill those animals fast so that they don't suffer that much. It's the way of life - hunt or be hunted.

My methods are different from yours,i would first unplugged the feather from the chicken's throat and then i would slit it's throat,drain the blood into a bowl until the bird stop moving and then i would dipped or soak the chicken into a hot water for easy smoother feather unplugging.The head and the skin would stay intact afterward,but in time of war,time are scarce and you're alway on the move,you must prepare the bird quickly and eat it quickly,i would think your method is more effective.
