  • beautiful...

  • EXCELENT

  • I like this stuff. I saw this in Mr. Rogers Neighborhood when Mr. Rogers went to Russia. I learned the Russian word for Mr.: Gospodin(Господин). I certainly liked this. Reminds me of a younger, sweeter time, when all I worried about was food, television, bedtime, and simple things.

  • I remember this! It was so soothing.

  • Norstein books in English and Russian are available at Norstein Collection at Amazon

  • @norstudio I bought the "Fox and the Hare" for my daughter. Just beautiful!

  • Wow it is just so wonderful!

  • This makes me crap my pants

  • Just creepy.

  • @starwolffan13 I googleimaged "creepy", and well, to me that video is everything but creepy. Personally I find it magical.

  • Norshteyn is one of the very few artists I respect. He understands so much about his medium.

  • amazing , beautiful and wonderous..

  • this is simply beautiful...unbelievable. You know his works are not comprable to any other animation work even gibli studio works. His works are unique and nostalgic. Unlike walt desney animation the story goes very slow but ellegant. Sometime you need be patient b ut it worth being patient..

  • the fact that this was all done in paper kinda makes your head explode...its just amazing....Norstein is just an incredible animator..and he puppets his wife makes just blow you away...

even the people at Studio Ghibli recognize this...at the Studio Ghibli museum they has framed sets from this piece including some sets from his other films...

  • @Chickengirl005 Not paper, paint on pieces of transparent celluloid. That's why the edges of the moving objects are soft.

  • WoW ♥

  • die sibel mag des!

  • JØYJE MEG! YURIRY ER HELT FANTASTISK :]

    Pretty, loved it♥

  • If he made a paper mario movie that would be awesome.

  • No.

  • @Donkeytron64 I think i would! Or Zelda. Or like Yoshi's Island, you know from the NES.

  • @Donkeytron64 I think it would! Or maybe Zelda, or Yoshi's Island, you know from the SNES, or Okami.

  • oh my gosh!!!! loo at the warmth of this...people die to get this sort of finish even in music nowadays.....Excellant to see what others can do in the world.

  • @vimaljks

Yea, for me the electronic musicians Boards of Canada also suceed in bringing this kind of warmth. In German there is a word called "Geborgenheit" that exactly discribes what these moments open to me! I heart that there is no word being as accurate in english...

  • Can someone please tell me the artist´s name of both songs?! would be so grateful!

  • composer Arkady Ostrovsky

  • @TheAwary

    Thank you very, very much

  • AAAWW SO CUTE!

i always loved these types of animations!!!!

  • ya lublu eta pesnya

  • Norstein is a genius. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • I can't possibly understand why russian audiences didn't like this. This is probably the most magical piece of animation I have ever seen! Could some one explain?

  • @mistergooby Many kids was scary when see this rabbit. This is for TV show for little kids.

  • Do you know where can i find the melody of this song? I need only the music without no vocal.

    any ideas?

  • Oy kokaia pesnia, detctvo vspomnil :)

    Mult klasno sniali.

  • I'm sorry but at 0:25 that rabbit looks like its been smoking something funny!

  • Yes, this smile doesn't suit him =)

But the rest is so-o-o lovely! Especially the very beginning!

  • No, I don't...

  • I love it, childhood days where you could travel to worlds of make believe and fantasy.

  • Norshteyn is great as always but this has got to be one of his best. thank you for the best animations list Niffiwan, I've always knew that future boy conan was really something.

  • Rususian susanimation!!!

  • Norshteyn takes the simple and makes it so mesmerizing.

  • Don't forget about artist of this piece - Valentin Olshvang is incredible animator who directed in 2003 film «ABOUT CRAYFISH» and now is working in Norshteyn's team on "Overcoat"

  • I didn't forget; I mentioned him in the description. And I love his 2003 film. I would upload it here if I could translate it, but have been finding it difficult to make out a lot of the words in the poetry. I didn't know that he is working on "Overcoat" now, though. Where did you get this information?

  • Never mind, actually, I found a source that confirms it

  • This is such a beautiful film! So sweet and happy.

Puts a smile across your face :)

  • That it does my friend, that it does.

  • Thanks so much, niffiwan :)

  • One of thes best examples of Norstein's work that I've seen. Really beautiful!

  • Unfortunately, audiences did not agree (see added text in my description). Probably because kids have gotten used to discreteness.

  • This is so beautiful!! Thanks for sharing this with us!

  • Bravo!! A fantastic find! I am so pleased to finally see this. A truly beautiful work, that I will watch again and again just like all his other works. Thank you.

Did you notice that the composer (Ostrovsky) also did the music for the episode of "Good Night, Children" from 1981 featuring the work of Tatarsky and Kovalyov.

  • Yes, of course; it's a very famous song. It was also used in another opening/closing segment for the show from the late 1990s.

  • as a matter of fact, from 1980s with some interrupions

  • Misunderstanding. pavlovich said it was used from 1981, and I said "yes, and there was also another opening/closing segment from the late 1990s that used it". All in all, 3 different opening/closing segments for the show used this song.

  • Fantastic!!! Thanks so much

  • sweet
