  • Beautiful; I'm nearly crying now, it moved me that much. Thank you for posting; where'd you get all the great footage, most of which I've never seen before! Yes, Charlie was blessed with a wonderful, loyal loving woman when he needed her most, and their mutual love for each other was a thing of joy and beauty unto itself.

  • You can just tell how much they loved each other. Oona is always smiling at him and Charlie always had so much love in his eyes when he looked at her.

  • Have loved the Chaplins all my life. So happy so many today still think of them. Thank you, Chaplin's Violin! I am inspired by precious Oona and their incredible love. She was an angel. I feel they were 'made' for just each other! Bless their memory always!

  • Geraldine Chaplin looks like her mother! Very interesting video! Thanks for posting!

  • could you please tell me where you got the piece of footage at the start, of him making a speech???

  • What a beautiful family. I hate to see Charlie get old...:(

    Thanks for posting.

  • oh he is wearing cricket sweater and looks like also the clothes it makes me wonder if he liked cricket?? i would have been thrilled had i ever met him but he died long before i was born

ppl say The Beatles forever.... I say Charlie Chaplin forever and i'm getting a bumber sticker :)

  • What is sad was that Charlie in his 50's married Oona who was 18 and he was never a citizen of the U.S. He took Oona to England which he was a citizen of to show her is home country, when he returned to the U.S., Our country would not honor his visa, and he was exiled from the U.S. He work here for 40 years. He, Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford founded United Artists Pictures. He moved to Switzerland with Oona and they had 8 children. He was invited back to receive his Oscar.

  • CHAPLIN FOREVER

  • I've always known the song "Smile" (though your heart is breaking) but did not know that Chaplin wrote it until Jermaine Jackson sang it at Michael's funeral.

  • They seemed too be such a happy family!

  • @Hans021220 You're right. It took him awhile but it looks as though he got it right finally. LOL

  • How hott was Charlie's wife Oona??!

  • @AMTProductionCo Her father was writer Eugene O'Neil. Oona must have taken after her mom.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR CHARLIE!

  • How many children did Charlie Chaplin have?

  • @Hans021220 All together 11 children, his 1st child "Norman" died a few days after his birth. 2 sons with Lita Grey. Then, 5 girls and 3 boys with Oona.

  • Mr.Chaplin died two years before I was born. But having an old soul I thoroughly enjoy anything from the past. It is very warming to the heart to know that he found his true love after so many soured relationships. So 122 years after his birth...I just want say, that he was & always will be a master of his craft. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Charlie Chaplin!!!

  • The music behind is so soul touching..

  • when was this?

  • Even though their relationship was considered quite controversial because of their age difference, you can really tell in this video that age has no bearing when it comes to happiness. They had a beautiful love between them, beautiful children, and beautiful moments that they all shared together. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • beautifull

  • Chaplin'sViolin: You did a fantastic job!

  • He loved wearing Mitsouko.

  • she loved him, no doubt, and he found a safe haven, was his second love, it's too is love

  • great vid, thanks!(:))

  • Oona took care of Charlie 24/7 towards the end of his life. Her dedication to him was far beyond what most people could handle. Her whole life was dedicated to him, and that is exactly why I have massive respect for her. 36 years apart, and they still found the greatest of love.

  • @MsTiffsickle fantastic///

  • which of all the children is Geraldine??

  • @andre141289 I think it's Geraldine he tickles around 2:30

  • @TheFlyingPeregrine thanx for the info

  • Thank you for this. It was lovely. I had the great honor of meeting Oona and Charlie in America in 1972. I had loved them all my life from afar and honestly, when I did meet them, it was wonderful. I was not disappointed. I'll be loving them, & their entire family "Eternally."

  • Beautiful really beautiful :) Love everything

  • How beautiful! Until the day of their death they stay together

  • @killerqueenfbr - Kind of rare nowadays, isn't it? I hope they made each other happy. : )

  • I am reading the biography of Oona O'Neill Chaplin at the moment so it was good to see your tribute and to see them both together so obviously dedicated to one another.

  • If you both marry young eventually you have to deal with sickness, aging and romantic problems. Age gap couples will always find ways of sparking up romances, whether they have children or not. You have to find common interests and hobbies, values, social status. I guess you have to focus on the good things that can come out of the relationship. One good thing is that an age gap couple can have fun and laugh. Charlie did have fun with Oona and the kids and they did make each other laugh often.

  • Loveley" Sayed!...

  • People always say negative things about age gap romances like stuff concerning intimacy, the younger person won't find the older person once the wrinkles or sagging skin or age spots set in, the older person may get sick and die.

  • Yes, age-gap have their disadvantages. My paternal grandparents married when he was 59 and she was 30, and they both died well before I was born. They didn't get to see my Dad grow up beyond his 20s to get married and have a kid. But on the other hand, my grandparents raised four children to adulthood and lived a comfortable middle-class life. I think as long as the age-gap isn't more than, say, 35 years, then raising a family can be successful. The Chaplins seem to be proof of that.

  • Yes, Oona and Charlie's marriage lasted 30 plus years and she was in her 50s and he in his 80s. Age gap relationships have obstacles but if you are willing to work them out then I guess you can have a succesful relationship.

  • como puede haber un hombre tan perfecto!!!! daría cualquier cosa por verle en directo

  • Great video, thank you

  • So cute!!!! 1:38

  • the end clip-beautiful

  • i adore Sydney and Charlie jr. such sweet boys

  • I love the part where he's crawling on the ground with his children playing, so much love.......

  • So glad that after all those failed relationships, he finally found that one person that would make him happy for the remainder of his life. Such a beautiful video....

  • @tw1nkletoes89 they had 8 children!

  • Quite beautiful and inspiring. Thanks!

  • Bravo! Bravo!

  • Excellent video! I love it!

  • i love u my dear genius!!!!

  • I am not sure why the age gap relationships do work out whether between older man younger woman or older woman younger man. I think maybe it is because the older partner learned from their mistakes in previous relationships and knew not to do those things again. The older partner shows devotion and commitment to his younger partner. Older men know how to treat a lady and are aware of what she likes.

  • It seems that several Hollywood actors who find love later in life seem to be much happier in their relationships. Regardless of the age difference, some of these relationships tend to work out in the long run. Age gap relationships can and do work with normal occupations and outside of Hollywood. Warren and Annette, Harrison and Calista , Michael and Catherine, Humphrey and Lauren, Charlie and Oona, Clint and Diana.

  • I will always love you Mr. Chaplin.

  • The Chaplin family has entrusted Charlie's works to the Film Institute of my town (Cineteca di Bologna, Italy) in order to restore and promote them. Every year one newly restored film or short film is publicly shown in the presence of at least one member of the Chaplin family. On those occasions I have met Geraldine, Victoria and her husband Jean-Baptiste Thiérrée, and Charlie's youngest son Christopher.

  • simplesmente amo!

  • That was beautiful; thank you. I've read much of the long and loving marriage of Charlie and Oona Chaplin. How wonderful to see a part of it on this rare film.

  • Wonderful, Beautiful video!

    Chaplin4ever!!!

  • I loved the music in "Limelight" so much that I've got to get it! I love that Chaplin shared his music with the world. Can anyone tell me where I might find his music? It's particularly moving to me, I can't tell you!

    JM ♥

  • iTunes has a great deal of Chaplin music on it. Just search for his name - but don't get it confused with the Reggae singer.

  • Thank you for that iTunes information! You're very kind!

    JM

  • This was so incredibly touching to watch. Such a beautiful family! I'm glad that Oona and Charles found each other in this lifetime. They seemed so well matched and such good companions.

  • That was a beautiful tribute and so sad, but I loved it, the music goes very well, and you showed some clips I have never seen before, where did you find those clips? I'm am too a big Charlie Chaplin fan and would love to see them, I've seen some of them already but a few of them I haven't seen like the one at around 2:10.
