macs are useless not USER FRIENDLY can you all mac lovers just realize you cant plug a regular projecor cord in your laptop when you want to do a presentation and your formats are complicating. thats why apple is number five in the world consumer reports ummmhhhhhmmmmm did i just say that. dang!!!
i know, i love my pc it comes with the best game ever its called headaches. i love all the viruses too, its so cool. i also love the hardware failures. DANG!!!
all they are doing is introducing i5 processors, funny how when apple releases i5 you sit there with a hardon, but other companies do it, it's no big deal? all they are doing is refreshing current notebook lines, you say it like it's no big deal, but when apple refreshes a notebook you act as if it's the biggest thing since sliced bread
is there a button on the hp envy 15 core i5 to switch between on on chip gpu and the discreet 5830? if so can you switch on the fly or do you need to restart?
i think that msi all in one looks like an OLD powermac display with a mighty mouse and a last gen apple keyboard. now all they need is 2 little circular speakers, a few apple logos and the rights to OS X 10.2
@manjyoumethunder i think it's a little of both. somewhat of a middle ground between power, portability and battery llife. all of this geared towards more wealthy consumers
have you actually seen it? it looks a lot more like the MBP. plus with the battery slice on the bottom it is a lot thicker and heavier. you can also get 5 gb of ram in the envy 13
Last I checked, the battery slice is optional. The fact of the matter is that the Envy 13 is, like the MacBook Air, an ultraportable, and it's components reflect such.
The hp looks like a crappy macbook pro. And apple really did something good when they put the chicklet style keyboard in their line of products...Now everyone wants to put it in their computers
HP probably already expected that psystar would win the case against apple so they could run Mac OSX on their Envy notebooks, thus making it possible to compete against apple's Macbook Pro line.
I wouldn't be surprised if Psystar was secretly funded by HP.
Thos projector PC's good be good for schools and colleges. My school has a PC, monitor and projector in almost every room. Maybe these would cut costs.
My biggest reason for hating Windows 7 is that it doesnt even come with a simple calendar program. Dont get me wrong you can get one free from Microsoft but its lacking the most important feature of any calendar app, reminders that pop up to the top. So when I upgrade to Windows 7 on my computers it costed me $130 plus $100 for Outlook while Snow Leopard only Cost $30 and does what the $130 version of Windows 7 and Outlook do and much, much more. Windows 7 = lacking.
wow omfg no calender program! what have microsoft come to... WHO CARES its a thing called free ware. and outlook? thnderbird or google mail are better + free so wndows 7 = feature rich
Microsoft cannot include certain applications with Windows anymore due to antitrust claims in the EU, such as how they were forced to remove Media Player in the past in certain editions.
As for a Calendar application, it is part of Windows Live Mail which will be marked as an "optional" update in Windows 7.
I Know all about the Antitrust laws with Microsoft and I know about the Windows live mail calendar. But the Windows live calendar lacks a notifications like iCal, were it pops to the top. Windows live calendar doesnt have any notifications at all. Sunbird has it but sometimes it pops to the top and some times it doesnt. Nothing works quite as good as iCal.
that being said...HP in a new survey is ONE OF THE MOST UNRELIABLE companies for laptops, so i think either a dell adamo or an asus based laptop, asus are in top 5 with toshiba, apple i think are 4th
lol ha ! ur right, ces HAS been pretty boring in terms of news for us ! but CES, to attend is brilliant ! i think apple tablet rumours and google nexus one news just kinda hit CES hard !
@DRBUK Adrian you are do right. CES would be awesome to attend. I might head over to Vegas next year. I love that place. CES would make the trip worth it alone.

groMMit1981 2 years ago
I would expect you would set that in the Bios like normal.
mhillman159 2 years ago
didn't know that was the norm, usually a function key or dedicated switch on other laptops with discreet and integrated gpu's

The HP Envy 13 is not a competitor to the MacBook Pro 13"
It is a competitor to the MacBook Air.

The Envy 13 is thin, light, lacks an optical drive, and uses ULV processors.
The MacBook Air is thin, light, lacks an optical drive, and uses ULV processors.
The MacBook Pro 13" is less thin, a little heavier, has an optical drive, and uses normal processors.
Which of these seem most similar?
