I own a fantom and recently sold my Nord. I tried one of the Korgs today and found it quite nice. I like the touch and the ease of programming. In person neither of them come very close to the Roland's sounds.
The ARX card on the Roland is a very powerful tool which allows you to create a huge variety of EP's and control virtually every parameter. I've heard much better from the Fantom in person, it simply sounds like this demo was done with a poorly programmed instrument. In fact, the Fantom G presets out of the box sound better. As far as the others, I've owned/played all of them, and the Nord is definitely the best for me. Korg looks great on stage, though!
the Roland sounds like it is broken or something. like it is being played through a transistor radio instead of a P.A. system. The Nord, though, sounds like the real thing, dead-on, and has all those other great sounds and features. I won't buy one without actually playing one, but it sure seems the best keyboard.
nord wins this round but I don't think it was a fair fight. unless this is all straight out of the box than I guess it is. but he could have set the velocity to #6 on the sv1, knock back the treble, boost the mids, and turn off the rx noise / amp sim. it sounds a lot better but then again whats the point of having all that if it doesn't enhance the sound. some like it some hate it. I thinks its great for a mark 2 sample.
@Vsyevolod I agree with you about the Nord being best and Roland being a joke. There's no Yamaha here as far as I can see and Kurzweil epianos sound very cheesy in my opinion.
@tvseal0001 You have heard the Kurzweil PC3? Not to get all fanboy about it, but they equal (and surpass in some areas) anything that Nord has come out with for ePianos. Nord has better B3 organs, Kurzweil has better acoustic pianos and clavs. Also their Rhodes are really something else... exquisite detailing and clarity.
@Vsyevolod It's a matter of opinion really. As far as acoustic pianos...yes Kurzweil is great. For clav...Nord has often been rated the best by far...particularly the Electro series which has a bouncy feel great for clav with controls that perform very similarly to an actual clav. Rhodes is actually improved in the PC3...but for me I still like the feel like the Nord has over Kurzweil. My point being for an overall cheap, lightweight, all around keyboard Nord is ahead of the competition.
Would've been nice if he'd played the same into on the Korg as he did on the others, makes it hard to compare.

Nord = not bad at all. The best of the three.
Yamaha = poor velocity switching, trying to hard to get that 'phat' sound. Comes in too soon and too 'in your face'. Not very realistic.
Roland = Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Look nice though.
You want really good sounding ePianos? Get a Kurzweil PC3.

@tvseal0001 Agreed, Nord is definitely one of the best options out there on the market today.
