yea they did return to their roots with faster music. but lyrically, i think james lyrics have gotten sub par compared to older lyrics. i think what they did was go back and dig out a bunch of old riffs they recorded back in the day and just threw them together. i think before they retire they have to do an album with dave mustaine!! ill cross my fingers for that!!

If you ask me I think Metallica started to go downhill after the Black Album. Lars became a money hungry bitch, I can't stand his ass. One thing I love so much about Slayer is the fact that they always stayed true to themselves, their music and more importantly their fans. They haven't let their success go to their heads like Metallica has.
