I'm English and I've never waited 18 months for a doctor. If I'm not feeling well I call up my surgery at 8am and by 11am I've seen my doctor, picked up my prescription and walked home. I've never paid for a doctor, dentist or operation in my life. I even have an EHIC card for healthcare on the continent. Sorry, this man is an idiot, pure and simple.

Though i do recall about 5 years ago there being a lot of major operations being reported all the time which took about 18 months....so Blair had to pump even more money (As thats all labour does to solve problems) to make times improve...which they did...lots! Obama will say it costs X but then will end up costing XXX!

How does increasing capitalism in healthcare help people who have no money to pay for it? Also capitalism in healthcare means you are going to be prescribed drugs you don't need so they can make money. Ive seen the adverts for legal drugs on US TV its a disgrace.

@srspower... The answer to your question is simple. Capitalism & Free Market competition force prices downward and promote price transparency. This aids the poor as it will make it easier for them to afford quality coverage. Also... the number of legal citizens who cannot currently afford health care is extremely low in the US. Doctors don't get paid anymore money by prescribing patients one drugs versus the other... nor do they get paid more by prescribing any drug versus prescribing no drug... please be careful with statements like that.

@jordinh Wrong government regulating insurance to high heaven is why insurance is expensive. Government forces you to buy a Cadillac plan even if you just want a Chevy plan. The profit motive makes products cheaper and higher quality due to competition. The other problem is trial attorneys, Big Pharma, and the thousands of lobbyists who are in the pocket of D.C. politicians to pass laws that favor themselves. This is the problem my friend.

uh no. corporate greed is only half the reason healthcare is so high. we provide too many services to too many people, half of which shouldn't even qualify (non citizens), there is too much abuse and waste in the system, and too many people treat their health like shit,. that's why every other american is at least 50 lbs overweight. people need to take responsibility for their own health as well.

There are a lot of myths about nationalized health care. Also, my huband lived in Canada and there was no lottery and no rationed care. FEMA wouldn't be in charge of our health care if we had it. If the govt controls healthcare can they NOT determine whom get's it and who does not. He did it free of charge (videos on youtube titled Rick Simpson "Run from the cure" ) and is a great person.
