I'm a Christian and can confidently admit that nightline sure din't get the heavy hitters in this particular debate. Ray and Kirk are evangelists, not scientists or PH.D apologists. RRS is too much of the teenage big sister to really perform well in the debate.

There is a lot about evolution I don't know, but I did read that if earth were located 100 or 10%miles closer to the sun, life could not survive on earth. The same if the Earth was 10% farther from the sun. I find that very difficult to believe to have happen without GOD's miracles taking place.
@4GOD316 Considering how big the universe is, that is not unlikely at all. We have actually found 54 planets that are in the perfect location for life, 5 of them earth-sized, with the help of the kepler-telescope. And that is just a tiny fraction of our galaxy.
@RagOfWar Location, temperature, etc. is a far cry from hospitable to life (water, atmosphere, O2 ratio, elements from the star, nutrients for the life to feed off of etc.). If all those were right on, like earth, the chances are still nil that life would spring up. We have (very near) the perfect habitat for life, yet we have never seen life come from non-life. But the real problem for non-theists is the teleology of the initial conditions of the universe for life to be possible anywhere.

There is something called punctuated equilibrium theory, that a species can go through sudden changes due to sudden changes in the environment, and then stop evolving almost completely which is where the difficulty of finding transition states could have come from. and micro evolution has been proven, this man is using classic creationist arguments i laugh every time i hear them now. single celled organisms can very likely evolve into what we have today.
Punctuated equilibrium is just a hypothesis to explain why transitional states are problematic to evolution theory (as you've just admitted). PE cannot be demonstrated experimentally to explain the fossil record in rocks because it requires millions of years which we don't have. Also no intelligent witness (human) was there to provide any evidence to support this 'science' - the study of medicine, history, archaeology uses this. Modern science is moving away from human evidence to story telling

There is something called punctuated equilibrium theory, that a species can go through sudden changes due to sudden changes in the environment, and then stop evolving almost completely which is where the difficulty of finding transition states could have come from. and micro evolution has been proven, this man is using classic creationist arguments i laugh every time i hear them now. single celled organisms can very likely evolve into what we have today.

Punctuated equilibrium is just a hypothesis to explain why transitional states are problematic to evolution theory (as you've just admitted). PE cannot be demonstrated experimentally to explain the fossil record in rocks because it requires millions of years which we don't have. Also no intelligent witness (human) was there to provide any evidence to support this 'science' - the study of medicine, history, archaeology uses this. Modern science is moving away from human evidence to story telling

@crazyman2994 Evolution isn't a ladder. It's not the strongest or most intelligent that survive, it's the one that can adapt to change. Also dolphins have amazing intelligence, probably very close to ours. Just because animals can't speak or do math doesn't make them any less intelligent. I mean there are things animals can do that we can't. I am not an expert on this kind of things but I hope this helps.

The other side's protests against this are fatally flawed - of course it's possible that people lied about the results of radiometric dating but doesn't one then have to discount all evidence for everything on the basis that it could, feasibly, not be true? The frankly overwhelming body of evidence supporting evolution can't be dismissed just because it is possible that it might have been faked. Anything is possible.

Same thing if you have a small bone at the base of your nose between your nostrils. Easy. No matter how skulls are misaligned to appear apelike (jaws thrust forward) or "artistically recontructed" with modeling compound, look for those two things. Unfortunately dremel type tools are capable of removing features..

This editing of the debate is so dishonest! Huge chunks of the debate cut out where the opposition completely destroy all of Ray's and Kirk's arguments and continues on to ask Ray and Kirk questions. Ray and Kirk never give any good responses, but you can't tell how badly they failed to answer the questions because the questions have been cut out!
More than ever I wish the star rating system was back so I can give this 1 star. But for now I'll have to be satisfied with one real big thumb down.

@b991228 Well, evolution is a very weak theory but it is the best we have it is said. I agree that some creationists makes laughable claims. However creationsism and Inteligent Design are not the same. ID is a belief that is common among scientists.
Evolution is taught as a full proof theory but it is a extremely weak theory and that is why so many scientist are silenced if they accept ID.

God’s logic is built into the universe, and so the universe is not haphazard or arbitrary. It obeys laws of chemistry which are logically derived from the laws of physics, many of which can be logically derived from other laws of physics and laws of mathematics. God allows everythg to exist!

@DaAmazingAntiTheist so your assuming there was another creator before God right? at sometime we are forced to stop asking that and realize that there had to be something that has always existed.God is that infinite Being who has always been and who was created by no one.our finite minds cannot comprehend the infinite. we can try to think of the highest number, but we cant do it. we must not limit the infinite God by our infinte understanding.

@MV67786 I don't know if you can comprehend infinite, but I sure can. It's very simple. And if you're god is infinite and, as most christians/other monotheists say, you're god is a kind and loving god. Explain the killing and the ordering of killing of millions if not billions of the people HE supposedly created and that HE supposedly loves all of us. Frankly, if you love someone unconditionally, you don't kill them. These statements contradict each other.

This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’ ”

@creasonbryan you have to know the difference though. God doesnt give orders to kill innocent people, rather to Guilty people. the babies you say? they are affected for what their own people did. and you shouldnt of asked me that question, because the answer is in the verse itself.

@MV67786 Anyone that kills a BABY-a person who in all probability doesn't even know how to feed themselves, much less be held accountable for what their parents did- is immoral. It doesn't matter if you're a deity or man, that's disgusting. There's a word to describe what God ordered on the Amalekites: Genocide. Let's see... who else was big on the genocide? And if he's the creator of space, time, and everything, he decides the definition of just. Why decide that baby-killing is just? Why not in a corner somewhere where no one went? And why couldn't he just let bygones be bygones and forgive Adam and Eve? And why does the rest of the human race have to pay for the sin of Adam and Eve?

@creasonbryan God wont let your sin go unpunished. He did not let the sin of the Amalekites go unpunished. He had to destroy everything even the children because they would end up doing the same. God wouldnt kill the innocent. sin is so serious to God (Mark 9:43-48). He did forgive Adam and Eve. we dont have to pay for Adam and Eves sin, we have to pay for our own.
