  • your brilliant!!! you helped me soooo much!!!!!!! loovvee yoouu!!! x

  • it doesnt pop cause its half blown...cool!

  • SeriousCakes, thank you so much for your videos,so inspiring and so much to learn from. How come we only see your hands? Do you use Wilton colors? red/poppy red?

  • lol-you only see my hands because my videos are only about the cakes, not how I look :D

I do use Wilton colors, red red, red no taste, etc. I usually combine a few to get the color I want.

  • I have just taken on the adventure of cake decorating and am so excited. waiting to take wilton classes. love this basket video cant wait to try. just love it do you have a web page? what other lessons do you have?

  • If you click on my name it will take you to my other videos :D

I also have my pictures posted on cakecentral, my name there is Serious_Cakes.

  • I love your cakes I've watched every video you have. Love it.

  • i'd never seen or heard about basket weave before i watched this video, so i tried it yesterday for the first time and it worked! it looked so good, i was so happy with myself! but all thanks to you lol

  • i LOVE your cakes, but i dont like the color green on any cake :/

  • lol, well, it's *leaves*, what color would you make them? :D

  • LOL! yeah!

  • what consistency icing for the basketweave?

  • Should be about a medium to thin consistency, if you dip your spatula in your frosting the frosting should have a somewhat droopy peak :)

  • I wish I could do basketweavet that fast! (wink wink) I love the look, but haaate the pain that comes with it!

  • *flexes muscles* That's right, I AM fast!! lol :) I know, my hand hurts just thinking about doing basketweave!

  • Oh my gosh, the picture, it looks amazing!

  • I'm not saying I wouldn't eat it, but someone has to cut it first! I don't think I could destroy it, hehe...

Beautiful, basket weaving, is my favorite to watch~

  • so cute!! i love the basketweave

  • Fantastic! Thanks for this video!

I really need it for our cake decorating since i'm planning to do a basketweave with fruit toppings.

Anyway, do you know the "high humidity icing" from wilton?

Is it advisable for the basket weave?

  • hey- great job!!! what size pan did you use for this cake? also, how did you make the little square on top? thanks so much!

  • Actually this cake was made from a one layer 8" square cake that I cut into 1/4th's. I stacked 3 of them then cut down the last 1/4 to a smaller square for the very top.

  • ooooh!!! thanks!!

  • Nice job! And I have to say, I have the same problems with the coupler blowing out the end of the bag too. But I couldn't see where it hit the cake. Nice save!

  • lol-yeah, my heart nearly stopped when that happened! I've had it happen a few times too, always has the same effect :)

  • So beautiful. Your talent amazes me every time!! I love the basketweave and then in additon the flowers, it looks so beautiful to eat!! But I'd eat it anyways LOL

  • Thank you!! :)

  • hiiiiii, can u use whipping cream to make flowers?? i am planin to make blackforest for new year n plan to decorate it vt whip cream, do u think its best option or sod i stick vt buttercream?? thanksssss

  • I don't think whipping cream would hold up, it's too soft. If you are used to using buttercream it would be best to make them out of that.

  • thanks dear...:)

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I've been looking everywhere for how to do this.

  • could you just directly put the basketweave onto the cake or does there have to be some frosting underneath?

  • You could do that but it helps the basketweave stick better. Just a thin coat of frosting is enough :)

  • Found it!

  • wow! beutiful!

  • Thanks so much, I am doing a baby shower cake for my sister in law this week and I am making a baby carriage, and this will definately help. I think I will basketweave the bottom of the carriage :) Great demo!

  • Sounds like it's gonna be pretty!! Let me know if you post the pics somewhere, I'd love to see the final result! :)

  • have you tried doing the vertical lines in the opposite direction (bottom to top)? i find it easier...

  • I have tried it that way but I think this way is easier for me :)

  • Thanks for the flower height tip. Great video..super!

  • Thank you! That was my first time trying that, don't know why I didn't think of it before-duh!! lol :)

  • hey! hows it going?!

nice! another one of your awesome vids!

i see you did not smooth the icing all the way coz it would be covered with besketweave, very clever!

  • Thank you!! Yeah, no need to spend time in smoothing when it's just going to be covered :)

  • OMG i love you flower on top Soo prettttyyyy

  • Thank you! :)

  • was this a round cake that you cut in 4 pizes....?

    thanxz nice...!

  • No, it was a one layer 8" square cake, cut into 4 pieces, I stacked 3 of them, then cut down the 4th to a smaller square for the top.

  • That's stunning! If I was presented with a cake like that I wouldn't want to cut it! Its too beautiful!

  • All youtr cakes are awesome!

  • Thank you!!

  • this is a nice frosting cake...!

    love ur cakes....!

  • I think ur the greatest!! I understand more how to make deco on cake than other videos I have watched! Thank you! x

  • Thank you! I'm glad you liked them :)

  • Love the music, you are so good you should be on a cooking show I know I would watch you!

I like decorating cakes on shows better than how to fry a fish! SSSOOOO AmaZZZING!

  • Hi, just wanted to let you know I learned the basketweave by watching your video. Your videos are so informative and easy to understand. I just finished watching your stacking and fixing video and can hardly wait to see what the next one will feature.

  • Thank you! I'm glad they help :)

I can't wait to do another one, just not sure what it will be about ;)

  • hi, i have two questions: did your recie for buttercream make enough frosting to cover that cake AND make the flowers? 2: did you use the same tip for the suflower petals as for the green leaves?

    Tammy xxx

  • 1. Yes, but that was a really small cake, it was a one layer 8" square cake that I cut up and stacked. My recipe is enough to frost and simply decorate a 2 layer 9" round cake. It's usually plenty for me but if I plan on basketweave I usually make a little more.

    2. Yep, same tip for petals and leaves :)

  • thank you, im making a basketweave cake tonight from following your guide, i hope it works!

    Tammy x

  • Yay! Post it so we can see how it turned out! :)

  • you are really good at making flowers. that's my drawback... i'm no good at making them...lol. but maybe i can learn a thing or two... or three, from you....lol...

  • lol, glad to help if I can! Like the name btw :)

  • Thank you!!!!!

  • Awesome as always....I LOVE the music! What is that piece called?

  • You're going to laugh :) I used 2 pieces for this one, both from Star Trek! The first is called Ilia's theme, the second one is Klingon battle :)

  • I just discovered her channel last night and I asked, too. Her choice of music makes me watch until the end. d:

Maybe she can add it to her description as I add it to my collection.

  • I am new to the basketweave design. How far apart would you say to keep the vertical & horizontal lines? You mentioned something about touching the tip on the cake, not sure what you meant.

  • Hi, I sent you a PM :)

  • WOW! Another VERY AWESOME video! I can not tell you how much I enjoy them! They are so imformative and just a touch of humor I LOVE IT! Please keep the videos coming, I have so much to learn and you seem to really know how to teach! THANK YOU!!!!!

  • Thank you! I can't wait to make another one, they are a lot of fun :)

  • check out Serious Cakes' buttercream recipe. I tried it today and it's the BEST buttercream I've ever tasted. However, it's not the best buttercream for warm weather. I'm from Puerto Rico so it's hot all year and that sucks. You can try it using all Crisco (no butter) and adding some clear butter flavor to it. Since the buttercream wasn't so stiff I had to add more 10x. It's in the fridge right now. I'll practice roses today. Wish me luck. Serious you rule!

  • Thank you SoyLaJefa! lol-got the whole name that time :)

  • hey! I made the wedding cake using your buttercream recipe and it was great. however, it fell and was a disaster! it truly sucked but i recovered quickly.

  • It fell!! Oh no! That has got to be a caker's worst nightmare! Glad to hear you got it worked out though :)

  • yeah, i swore i would never make another cake and i delivered one today and got another 2 for this weekend. the wedding planner told me the hotel took care of it and made another cake. thank goodness they had the time. nothing will bring me down. I AM LA JEFA! (to be said like.."this is Sparta!") .... i thii have too much time in my hands. i'll go now. haha

  • LOL!! I love that! You crack me up :)

  • wow what a video, please do more!you are helping many people out there in the cake decorating world!

  • Beautiful cake, I was thinking to practice my basket weave today. Awesome video!

  • Wow, once again you have created a masterpiece!! That is the most beautiful and creative basketweave that I have ever seen!! LOVE the flowers :)
