it gaves me chills listening to this the whole time...trying to hold tears back but can't help it..every since i was little my parents always talked about kampuchea and it seems that no matter how much we were bashed we still stand up with proud and dignity to this day i hope other younger generations and the generation we are in to never forget what was once lost
I've never heard a Khmer poem before, and hearing it being read this way is pretty amazing to me. It sound so beautiful and it's done with such emotion and passion. I'm Khmer myself and have been living in the United State since I was about 10 yrs old. I like to thank "PromMukbuon" for sharing this video.
As for DAYyoungFAB, congratulation on your scholarship to Harvard.big accomplishment. Your desire to bring justice to Khmer and its people is noble but get that master degree first.good luck
This song really touch my heart deeply. I was born after the KR and my parents told countless story about our great nation, and now she is aging crying for our help. Siem Jomrai wee jul mok plun yok dey khmer....Som kun khmer ka beah dey khmer poung. I am Khmerphilosopher will protect my nation with my blood and put life on it. Khmer rum dey knea.
Thank you for sharing! It is so sad Khmer had been going through many hardships already ... everything from foreign occupation and invasion, historically from the French, the Japanese, and the Siamese to the American era of bombing Kampuchea at will and the total destruction of the Khmer Rouge ... it is so sad and it seems so unfair that Khmer as people had enormous share of suffering and destruction over the past centuries among foreigners who did not respect the sovereignty of Khmer.
Beautiful voice on the greatest Khmer poem, love it so much, and so sad that I also cry in my heart... I hope this poem is heard by all Cambodian around the world. I'm Khmer Krom, never been to Cambodia, wish to see Angkor Wat in the near future...
Hi friends :) I'm mexican but i love all our brothers and sisters of the world I would be very much thankful if you could explain what happened in cambodia? What happened in it?
My brothers and sisters around the world, I love you all very much. I will continue to pray that one day we will overcome this evil storm that our people had to endure unparalled in human history.
This is such a very beautiful poem. It's really make me sad and miss my homeland very much. Thanks for sharing this poem. I really loved it very much. Do you know where can i get a cd of this poem?
Being Khmer and listening to this poem I can not stop my tears from dripping. I am so ashame of myself that I don't have any power in this life time to help my suffering people. Since 9 years old I was forced to leave my beloved homeland to live in a foreign land. Thirty year later, I still couldn't stop crying because I miss my home so much. To all Khmers around the world, I just want to let you know that I love you all very much. Please forgive me that I could not make you proud.
That's alright, issarak. We forgive you and forgive all Khmer who love Khmer but didn't have a chance to help Khmer with some reason. Thanks for watching.
Thank you my brother/sister for posting this poem. To end Khmer's suffering, all Khmer must love each other. Khmer Krom, Khmer Kondal, Khmer Surin, and Khmer Oversea, all of you are my forever family. Only Khmer can help Khmer, we must do our part to save our homeland. We must be strong, stay united and beleiving in ourself to defend our land from these thieves who is stealing from us. I love Khmer very much.....
im a young khmer teen learning about the history of his culture and his people, right now im being offered a scholarship to harvard, im going to work hard and bring justice to the khmer people, our lands are being taken, our temples destroyed and pillaged, the treasure of ankgor plundered by the thais, and now they still want more khmer land.
we need to TRY to bring back our culture because im sure that most khmer ppl know that we are losing our land... like my dad he is like a very high congress for khmer or something like that...
but the main point is bring back our culture...,, my dad is teaching me bokator!! NOT NO MUY THI SHIT BOKATOR :]
we are the reincarnates of the tortured souls returning to earth to make right and restore the peace and beauty of our never forgotten traditions and land. I foresee great things for our people. We are the change to set things right. All day I dream of Cambodia. I love you all. Keep climbbing, we will reach our heaven. Love love and love
We need to show our youth with example. Let's teach and nurture them with the spirit of our ancestors and with what is right. We all need guidence in our lives, as we all can start with guiding someone who needs it.
The power is to teach and diminish ignorace! We shall overcome! Let's all contribute to our growth!
ask all khmers not to encourage this stero type and to show the world we are intelligent and strong to overcome what our history has brought us to. Not many will understand or even fathom what our culture has gone through. Regardless of their acceptance let's hold our heads up high and represent the future of our culture, for our kids and grand kids, and so on.
This stero type sickens me. I am proud to be Khmer!!
My mission in life is to help us break out of that stero type and to do the best in my power to nurture my culture! To feed knowledge and motivation in my khmer people!
I am from the second generation born in the US (in relation to many myspace users in my generation). Many people who I have came across have no idea of khmer history and why our country is at the status we are at today. I have seen limitations and prejudice (generated from ignorance) towards my khmer people.
It is heart breaking to hear that khmer people are "uneducated, low class, and only start gangs of rivary towards it's own people".
many cambodians are born in lower class families, start gangs and become disgraceful. gangs are dispickable and i see no need for them. groups starting wars over samll turf is just stupid.
Such beautiful poem, yet very sad....it makes me feel so proud and sad at the same time, especially what's happening to our Preah Vihear Temple. As Khmer people, we need to stand up and protect our heritage. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.
Sometimes it is material like this that reminds me what I live for. I am proud to be born a Khmer, but I will be proudest comes the day when I have done something worthy of my ancestors and their greatness.
It's very very sad to see we Khmer people live in poverty today. For 33 years I've live the U.S I never seen poverty in America. Until I Took a trip to Cambodia last December for the very first time. It's break my heart to see our people live in poverty. I wish Cambodian government do something about it.
My paren't listen to this every night when i was young and i don't really understand what it mean and i didn't even know it was a poem. Now as i'm a bit older i start to listen and try to learn more about my culture. Thank PromMukbuon for the Video.
