I watched it on Live tv. I live in Northern Vermon and I was 9 years old and saw it live on Canadian TV. What a day that was. So I already knew what happened when I saw ABC's prime time showing. Different announcer then too.
a group of my friends took about a 6 hour drive to the adirondacks and purchased " standing room" tickets upstairs for about $100 each on the streets. the journey to the arena was almost impossible because of all their traffic problems and we walked quite aways, but it was worth the walk! By the way, the crowd was quiet throughout most of this game and finally woke up when eruzione scored with 10 minutes to go!
There are many dream teams that we are all hearing from time to time, but the only real true dream team was the in fact the USA ice hockey team in 1980. They were all amature, and not professional team. I am so missing to my 80s.

01:22 - Actually there WERE live TV Broadcasts of the game, they just weren't American.
04:18 - Yes, how dare that evil soviet player get crosschecked into Jim Craig!
04:57 - Lame penalty. Though consistent with International Ice Hockey expectations at the time. Also: it was slashing, not high-sticking.
08:41 That has to be one of the greatest marches to the podium EVER!
