this song is the epitome of all relations I ever had with females in whom I've expressed romantic interest. thank you Martin Fry and ABC for creating such awesome music.
this is one of my favourite songs, ever.
love the new romantic style of singing funky, happy sounding songs about sad stuff/heartbreak etc.
martin shouldn't have fallen for that witch though, she's terrible, but very 80's fitting.
I saw the lead singer waring that exact same gold outfit when they had that 1-night reunion thing on VH1. Only two or three of the ABC members showed up for that reunion, including the lead singer and the drummer. The lead singer looks pretty good in that outfit.
i must confess to liking the band in there day and was shocked to find out most of the music was recorded a few hundred yards away in brick lane bethnal green
Classic song I remember it so well thats when me and my girl or my first g/f got physical with that playing in the background down at the caravan ohhh those were the days god I can still remember her rosey red lips sweet. ha!!
I wonder has she gone all fat and ugly now today, well I will remember her as a sexy minx which she was.
The track isnt cheesey for the time it was made. Just remember the 80s shaped the way music is now. Music in the 80s had waaay more character then today.
ABC is still around and cooking! Martin Fry (the lead singer) still does shows with the band ABC. There's a lot of live footage of people going to concerts watching ABC from the past few years here on youtube.
just looking at this and "Look of Love" I grew up in the 80s, it is so funny now to see how it was all about High Society, and livin the high life. Fun times though. It seems we all had more money than we knew what to do with.
Even with their success I believe ABC was still underrated. I have their Greatest Hits CD and even my kids enjoy listening to it and they're teenagers.
music is still good, your jst caught up in the feelings you had when this first came out.. after all its still made up of chords and notes , nothing really has changed
I know, it was cool. And isn't that all we need? Just something simple and fun to watch, that helps sell the music (which is the thing that really matters anyway)?
Hmm, I got linked to this song (which is in GTA: Vice City) from another song, Cry by Godley & Creme, which is in GTA IV. Interesting coincidence. (Although, they ARE both 80s songs.)
In my humble opinion, this is the best 80's song. The one all new wave should be compared. What's with all the bashing? I don't subscribe to love one another, but, please, respect and tolerate. Not everyone is as perfect as you seem to think you are.
Summer, 1982, watching this song over and over on MTV..... totally cool........ "so lower your sights.... raise your aim, raise your aim....... shoot that poison arrow..... "I thought that you loved me, but it seems you don't care........ " I know that I can never love you".........."Who broke my heart, you did, you did.... broke through the target..... blame Cupid..... You think you're smart..... that's stupid......"
I was at bording school when this album came out...I wore the vinyal out! So much so---my classmates loved this album as much as I did---until they were all beging me to throw it away, because of my over zealous playing of it!!!!
This is arguably one of the best pop/R&B songs of the 80's, has a melodic, funky groove, with those harmonious, and soulful vocals, and after nearly three decades, it still sounds as good as ever, an 80's pop/R&B classic!!
I agree with a lot of the comments about the 70s and 80s having an overall great sound. My teen years occurred during the seventies. It's a sad commentary in how music is lacking the rock and roll sound that inspired many of the rock groups of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s!!!
Yep it was a good time as far as I remember. But if you had been born in the 70s, the 80s would have been over for nearly 20 years already leaving you with only the music as you see it here. Kind of a vicious circle methinks unfortunately.
Yes, but it was better to be born in the 1960's. The 1970's then would have been your music of high school and the 80's the music of college. Those times are usually the most memorable of your life anyway.
