this was such a great movie. i love to see bugs mutated or up close regular size. the bee scene is one of my fav scenes in any movie. they should have added more uglier nastier bugs tho.
I <3 this movie but I have this one thought. I am surprise that those kids did not go to therapy after there experiences being small. After many near death experiences by a sweeping broom, high falls into trashcans, attack by giant bugs, drowning in oceans of mud water, The Motherfuckin' Lawnmower, as well as almost being stepped on and eaten by your own father; I would be intensely traumatized! I wouldn't be able to look at a bee again and not go hysterical. LOL
@ShadowChanceSassy OMG YES! We are >< here, lol. Those are some of my favorites! You couldn't pry me away from the disney channel back then. Those were the good ol days.
It's amazing how many times you can watch a movie when you're a kid and never get tired of it. I can't even count how many times, but I watched this RELENTLESSLY at my grandma's XD
@Linkage1992 i chose that film as a example, because most films these days are based on true storys and not all of them are good. infact most of them suck.
I remember when this movie came out. A kid in my first grade class got scared during the lawn mower and the bee scenes when they showed it again at school. Haha.
This was one of my favourite films as a kid. I watched it today, but it must have been almost ten years since I had seen it before. I distinctly remember going 'eeewwww' when Amy and Russ kissed, now I just think it's cute.
YouTube these 90's movies, Heavywieghts, Blank Check, Good Burger, The Meteor Man, Dennis The Menace, Richie Rich, Home Alone 1&2, Matilda, First Kid, Angels In The Outfield, The Little Rascals, Brink, Hook, Casper, Hocus Pocus, 3 ninjas, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, The Santa Clause, Jingle All The Way, Childs Play, The Mask, Little Monsters, Jumanji, The Grinch,Jurassic Park, Addams Family, Cool Runnings, Free Willy,Kazaam, Last Action Hero,Drop Dead Fred, Don't Tell Mom The BabysittersDead
they should have had a small scene at the end or after the credits.. where they are on the sidewalk or something and the blonde kid sees the scorpion and stomps the shit out of it and then laughs.. the ant dying made me fuckin sad !
whats the name of that one movie where t he guy finds a satellite dish and gets stuck inside his tv network and uses a remote to change different channel

What a year 1989 was for movies! This, Batman, Indy 3, Back To The Future 2, Lethal Weapon 2, The Abyss, Born On The 4th Of July....if you get one Average movie a year now you're lucky! The 80's & most of the 90's were the best era's for well made, entertaining blockbusters, what have we now? Cheap looking CG, no genuine moviestars, no real stuntwork, no big action set pieces, no likable characters with morals. I miss movies that really let you escape.
Matt Frewer is a awesome actor! re: this movie helped me become aware of his great acting abilities to play a tremendous amount of character award worthy winning roles - re: re: Max Headroom, Doctors, Psi Factor, and Syfy Alice (just to name a few)
on a side note: he should be playing Gregory House not Hugh Laurie!
i think this is the movie i have been looking for 10 or 11 years ago on christmas day. i remember sitting at nans house and watching it and thinking it was good. i cant remember what it was called and have been searching ever since and even looked for it on internet everywhere. now thank god the search is over (hopefully)!! merry christmas to you all!
Finally! It took me damn years to find this movie.. I just couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the movie. After thinking long and hard, BAM! This reminds me of when I was a kid, so glad I found it.
One of the best if not THE best family-style movie of the last 30 years. It has everything that makes a family film great: a fun adventure for the kids and still entertaining for grown-ups. Rick Moranis is in top form in this movie. They just don't make movies like this anymore. Today "kids" movies have to be rat-tat-tat quick cuts and loaded with CGI and wild action space battle sword fights a la the latest StarWars movies. Basically a video game blown-up in size to fit the big screen.
@MeBenHalpin Myself and husband and the kids were superimposed at a Disney Orlando show in this flick. I still remember how unnerving it was to watch my kids shrunk. The real scary part is that my estate could have partly funded it. Honey
@MeBenHalpin Wonder if we can obligate them to produce the video. It is even more interesting that there is an ABC news video in Phoenix in 2006 in which I am challenging Terry Goddard about the corruption in the State of Arizona related to the then Governor now DHS Janet Napolitano. When I peacefully held up a sign at her inauguration after she had honored Sandra Day O'Connor at the ceremony to which I was in attendance the interview was conducted outside of the capitol building. RESIGN OBAMA
Rick Moranis is hottt!!! This movie is the creme de la creme of all family movie genre and the old fashioned special effects that fills up the big screen. In my opinion, Honey I Shrunk The Kids is #1 with 2 thumbs up..way up. This is better than watching reality crap on TV.
@ishojtester Small correction, my friend. The best EVERYHING came from the 80's and 90's. Movies, music, television shows, breakfas cereals, snack foods, drinks (Crystal Pepsi & Ecto Cooler for the absolute win)...anything else you can think of.
I remember going to see it in the cinema when I was a kid,I taught it was amazing and I remember that the special effects were a VERY big deal at the time.Very Nostalgique film for me!
This used to scare me when I was puny due to the fact that the insects were giant and another that the bee scene gave me a jump and the last one when the kid almost took a one way ticket to stomach ville. yeah this is definetely a little rough for someone's young age wouldn't you say?
@ballicballer What are you crazy? If they make another one it'll be a disaster. Number 2 was all right, number 3, was basically the same as this one except it was in a house. (Those who haven't noticed this watch HISTK, and then watch HWSO, and try to see what the bee is [this one took me a while as it isn't exactly done by accident], what the ant is, what the trash is, what the scorpion is, and many more, and you'll see what I mean).
Can anybody tell me the name of the film where an American family come to tour Europe and stop off at England along the way? It's a comedy, and they drive an estate car - the father wears big glasses and calls his wife "honey" all the time.
He ended his acting career early, and has been keeping to himself ever since then. He also acted in the sequel to this movie, Honey I Blew Up the Kid (1992).
yup, it's called "The Agoraphobic Cowboy," it's funny actually, all tongue-in-cheek. Anyway apparently his wife died with cancer a number of years ago so he faded out of the whole business, there is a quote about this on the Wikipedia page for Moranis.
Anyway I just watched this movie again... what great memories :)
