  • Her music just makes me happy. Reminds me of those dreamy, free summer days...

  • I sing this song to God. He gets it. :)

  • RIP LOVED YOUR SINGING...

  • LOVE this song! It always makes me smile.

  • HOW PERFECTLY PERFECT!!!!!!

  • ela arrebeeeeeenta!!! Demais!!

  • Leave MrCHILDSTAR alone . . . he is a legend in his own mind (he wrote his own Wikipedia entry). I guess my question is, how could someone "go platinum" without anyone knowing about it??!!

  • I was a kid in the yard playing w/cousins. My aunt came out and said, "That lady died who your mother liked". I found it was Minnie. We were so shocked. Death is horrible and mysterious to a child. We were passing the JET magazine around in the car, that ran the article about her death and funeral pictures. I kept saying, "mom, how long you gon' be? I wanna see it too. " My mother said, "Wait a minute, wait a minute. I'm trying to read right now." Memories!

  • To this 53 y/o, she was the greatest singer of all time, & I listen to swing, jazz, soul, rock, and opera.

  • I remember Minnie, living in Seattle, WA, when my mom told us she died, The whole house was quiet, and we were so sad.

  • That's George Benson singing with her!

  • f7 @1:50 smh.......

  • @MrCHILDSTAR Why don't you check yourself in an asylum and GET THE HELL OFF Minnie's videos? You are PATHETIC and seriously need help!!!

  • @Kumtekmeon This @Kumtekmeon is as third world smart as richard rudolph and they say you learn something new every day.

  • @MrCHILDSTAR You are a LUNATIC, and I am simply being helpful!

  • Has a jazz feel to it. She could have sang with steeley dan as a side project.

  • It's Stevie Wonder with her. Love her spirit and voice.

  • the one person who disliked, isn't breathing already

  • I remember this song, it was the Spring of 1978 when I just returned from London, England. I was so happy to be back home, but to be with my then honey. We listened to this song. Yes, he took my breath away! Thank you Mininie Riperton!

  • I used to make my favorite Aunt sing Minnie Riperton songs all the time. We were so sad when she passed away.

  • @MrCHILDSTAR Yes!!! Minnie stomped all over "Loving You" (in a VERY good way), thereby making it sound extraordinary! I am American and pretty knowledgeable to the fact that a lot of genres originated in the US... so people globally share music all the time! My advice to you is... CONCENTRATE ON YOUR ART, not on other artists!

  • @dawn220 some artist do not agree with @dawn220. Did you know riperton covered Loving You ? Its artist like me who make you look good. Contact Richard Rudolph & tell him how you really feel.

  • @MrCHILDSTAR Stop being bitter and pursue your dreams! Like I stated earlier Minnie Riperton STOMPED ALL OVER "Loving You" in a superb way and that is what history remembers... GET OVER IT!

  • @dawn220 Contact Richard Rudolph & tell him how you really feel, Me, I waited decades before I spoke about my work. to other people, you can sit back and let a Pro get on with rooting out the lies that others have been telling you & filled your head with nonsense.

  • @MrCHILDSTAR nothin wrong with livin the past & sayin woulda coulda shoulda... but who the fuck r you ??

  • Respond to this video... and when you are finished telling the people about Minnie Riperton - You Take My Breath Away (Edit Version) tell the people about Loving You 1. instruments 2. who played the instruments

    3. what type of birds are in Loving You, stuff like that or to make it easy for music lovers Google: Loving You Thomas J Mitchell for more info.

  • Minnie Ripertons bereaved husband Richard Rudolph invited many of her friends to share the music she recorded before her so sad death.

Tracks like this had been stripped back to just her vocals and he lovingly re-recorded every part of the instrumental/backing vocal/duet vocal arrangements.

I too believe "Love Lives Forever"

  • her voice is beautiful!

  • You know ya man co produced, but this juwn is nasty!! Never heard this joint...thanks for the upload!

  • Boy, was I'm born in the wrong decade. Music these days ain't worth it.

  • @Richellegirl i agree.

  • Ironically Stevie wrote for her and wrote for Michael and played at both of their funerals. It's still so sad to me.

  • The most special and pure voice I've ever heard, and a hige inspiration to me, and many others!

  • Voices like hers come along once in a lifetime and thank God we were given the gift of hearing it.

  • sound's like donnie hathaway to me and it would make sense...but not sure as he hardly sings. Check Donnie if you haven't already

  • @MsSaffy99, no that's deneice williams who sings "free", but those two were very good friends and worked together

  • Did Minne sing I just got to be me.....?? does anyone have it?:-)

  • I'm only 15, but I feel like Minnie was a singing monarch... =( So sad...

  • I'm only 20 but trust me, growing up with diverse artists from Roy Ayers to Cyndi Lauper, I know a lil something about good music and this is the definition. I would simply smile when I was younger everytime my mom threw on a Minnie Ripperton record. A talent so beautiful and pure could only make one radiate happiness.

  • As a 45 year black male, the summer of 1979 was pivotal in my existence. A family reunion, being held @ gunpoint by my father, the murder of my favorite dog, Kojak, who followed me around on my paper route in Detroit, the drop in my voice which meant I could not hit the high notes again, lol but, what move me more was the passing of Minnie Ripperton. My sister & I cried. It moved me though, that she died in the arms of her beloved husband, Richard Rudolph. What a musical influence. We miss you!

  • Minnie took my breath away how great

  • My favorite of hers is Loving You. She sings it beautifully. What a loss it was to lose her at age 32 to cancer. Not fair . She was sooo lovely.

  • Her voice takes my breathe away

  • Is that Michael Mcdonald,w/ Steeley Dan's session men in toe.Once again,MINNIE'S amazing!

  • It looks like she's singing "You took my bra away";)

I know childish but kinda funny no?

  • I also cried at the announcement of her death. But I know The Father called her back home.

  • @41smoothdriver we might see minnie agian jehovah rememers everything.

  • @urbyne

Hello yes many pople will be remembered and we will have the wonderful opporunity to speak with them and hear these incredible voices again!!

    Your Sister

  • Where has this song been hiding all my life? Astonishingly beautiful and groovy.

  • The guy singing with her is George Benson.

  • Minnie was magic!!! She still is...there is NO voice like hers...pure music...righteous!!!!!

  • the queen of whistle no one can beat and replace her she's the original and the best.

  • It's funny kids.... We all have our good and bad times, & how I do miss pure vocalistic shit hot talent like our lil' Min. If I am having a bad day, I crank her stuff and just feel happy...A natural high? I think so.....If you are looking up this song...you have class....Best of luck to you all for the coming year. Rexy x

  • Sheer brilliance!! We love lil' Min forever. xx (She is the gun, show a thing or two to todays TRASH).

  • She was fantastic...

  • @joefalchetto She is fantastic!!!!

  • You're right!

  • lol...at the first time i thought the note at the end was total Bb6..but when i hear carefully there was a little high notes which is f#7...wow and she applied vibrato on that high note...how amazing!

    Bb6-A6-F#7

  • hi can u tell me where the f#7 is please!?

i can hear the bb6 i i dont hear no f#7 and i cant hear any vibrato either...

  • 3:27

  • thank u very much...so she does the f#7 on the backround or something right?

  • perhaps

  • Wonderful^^^^

  • superbe!

  • I remember being in Florida listening and enjoying her song, "Memory Lane" and how I was knocked completely into shock when the announcer said in memory of the late MR. Such a clear memory.

  • Thank God for giving us an angelic voice.

  • I am a 45 black female. I remember the day it was announced that she died. My friends and I cried. I was 15 at the time and had all of her records. Her music brings back a lot of memories of sitting on the front porch in south central los angeles during those hot summer nights listening to the music of the 70's..

  • @opaljo Just wondering if you have her album "Come Into My Garden".

  • @opaljo im 40 but my moms told me that she died and i was devastated. her music was for everybody.

  • I looove this song! She was one of the most incredible vocalists I've ever heard!

  • AMAZING.

  • I dont think shes b4 her time. What i will argue is he found that air of God inside of us all and displayed it for the world b4 she died... God bless her...

  • I saw the story on her on unsung! SHE WAS WAY WAY BEFORE HER TIME!! What a talented lady!

  • this is how u do it this is singing this is control clear powerfull soft strong loud everthing mixed into one incredible genius minnie ripperton

  • One of my favorite songs EVER! Did ya'll see her biography on TV ONE'S Unsung tonight?

  • Yes, it was beautiful!! I cried.

  • that high note was amazing at the end!!!

    SANG MINNIE!!!!

  • BRAVO-BRAVADO! She sings this song with much joy & passion. we will greatly miss a musical icon.

  • I like the harmony. It's changing all the time. positions.

  • Just amazing! We miss you Minnie!!

  • I used to take ladies to a sunnyday picnic and play this song and it was a wrap! I had them smitten!

  • what happen to minnie"s dancing and acting crazy

  • never heard this sounds real good

  • I always wondered what a Riperton/Benson album would have sounded like. They have a great blend I think.

  • A very refreshing song, I always thought she was one of the most SEXYIST singers ever, and this song confirms that!

  • i was little high when i typed that first msg. but what i meant was minnie, always has taken my breath away

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!! I love you!!!!

  • her music just makes me good. when i was a boy i fail in love with her voice and now i'm a man and theres no difference

  • This is the song that introduced & got me hooked on Minnie. This was the bait; the rest is history.

  • love it omg. makes me feel so good!

  • Why can't we get real music like this again? And I wasn't even born in this era and I miss sounds like this.

  • Totallly agree. There is some full on shit around today. This is what real music sounds like. Proper vocalists and instruments. Real talent. Forget all of these miss dynamiteehees.

  • Minnie was very good, but greatly underappreciated as a singer.

  • that beat is slammin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so much,Sharondamedia for this Minnie Riperton video. Please keep the Minnie videos coming.

  • One Of her best songs!

  • classic album i got the minnie riperton collection and greatest hits on cd ,alsothe love live forever album on vinyl

  • 3:30 is the F7#

  • amazing!!!!!!

  • That's a B6-b. Not an F7#

Nonetheless the song is very nice.

  • she goes from a B6 and then to a F7 when you hear the vibrato sound, it is not a instrument but in fact Minnie. Its hard to hear because it is not that audible. She transitions from superhead, to whistle register at that part with vibrato. Excellent control over hear register. In fact, the first part is in superhead to B6.

  • i LOVE this song!!!!!

  • F7# she holds at the end! Amazing! The vibrato part in whistle is F7#

  • That note is Bb6 not F#7.

  • Haven't heard this since the early 80's when my dad and my big sister used to wear this out.

  • I love this song! Who is the man singing with her??

  • on the album credit it's george benson and stevie wonder in the part before she mentions his name

  • i thought that sounded like george's voice. Thanks!

  • This album was the first of its kind, in that all of Minnie's vocals were stripped from their earlier, original music tracks and completely redone, complete with new musicians, vocalists and arrangements. Quincy Jones described this difficult project best, as "keeping the bridge, but moving the water". Pure genius. Dick Rudolph doesn't get his due respect.

  • @louisvuittonfan90 George Benson

  • @louisvuittonfan90 I love it too :)

  • man i love this song. this really makes me miss her even more. Wish she could still be here with us and bless her with her beautiful voice, because she takes my breath away everytime I hear those high notes. RIP Minnie. I know you are making beautiful music for the Lord

  • one word to describe this.. amazing!!!
