  • @awesomeH2O Not one that resulted in any physical contact. On very rare occasions, I sensed a slight tension between them, but they seemed to just stay out of each other's way, and then it would pass.

  • @awesomeH2O I guess it is probably best that neither one of us gets our way completely. The one thing we agree on is that we want the animals to have good lives, wherever they are.

  • @awesomeH2O What??? I am confused by your asking this question at this point after all the discussing of this topic we have been doing.

The fact is, I think if I had my way, I would have all animals living safe, secure lives in zoos. I am not a fan of nature, or of "nature's way". But the ideal situation is most likely to have some in the wild and some in zoos. So it's not an either/or situation.

  • @awesomeH2O I think the key point is that it all varies with individuals. People too often forget that, even when considering healthy sizes and weights for humans.

  • @awesomeH2O The exhibit did change slightly at different times of year, but not enough to go into detail about. I think the more important thing is that the keepers provided a wide variety of enrichment items and activities.

And the elephants always seemed alert and curious and responsive to their keepers. So I think they were content with their lives at the Zoo.

  • @awesomeH2O Yes, food, treats, and enrichment items.
