I've always found that getting lower to the ground is more effective considering both balance and also blocking, The lower you are, the more of your body you can block. However, I don't think you are as quick on your feet whilst lower to the ground.
@andrewdrury1 I disagree. I would say keeping your spine erect and your knees slightly bent, with your weapons tip facing between the opponents head and chest area. I feel like if I got too close to the ground I would lose focus and be cut down. I prefer to stay "above the enemy" In many ways.
Wow. I'm amazed that the speed and unusual technique of the guy in red and black was able to overcome the training of the kenjutsu/kendo practitioners. In these examples, anyway. Where there any examples of the opposite?
@decebal01 dude look at your comment that responded to. Your basically saying never go on the offensive. always wait to counterattack. If you combine those 2 rules. That's fine and dandy if you if your doing something like aikido... Looking at the video you have to assume the first to get hit is essentially dead and their strike from moment(since they actually are alive) is non exsistent.
Besides having perfect practice matches is ridiculous. most of the time it turns out lookin like that
you contradic yourself. If you never block and always try for a counterattack the chances of the clash resulting in aiuchi(both dying) increase alot more. Plus incorporating a defence to an attack would mean you have to be able to block or retreat right after you attack. basically saying they shoudl counter a counter until one of them fails to counter and loses?
if you look carefully(this is why its in slow motion) you can see they aren't really aiuchi, but one clearly would have hit first.
of course, only a fool never create hi own stance, sometime you cannot be in a "proper stance", it just doesnt work in that situation. in addition there is no uch thing a a proper tance except in forms or katas, "proper" is what works for you. i know you didnt say proper, but its an implication, and im not mad at you btw
Was this a specific style? Kendo? The strikes were fast and seemed pretty powerful, but the stances looked odd. I may just not be familiar with the forms.
@zukuru So it's not derrived from any one style in particular? I have to say I'm impressed. For something homegrown, this really looks like a pretty respectable, practical sword style.
90% resulting in aiuchi(both dying)

No specific style, it´s the summary of my weapon based training history.
Some kendo, some stickfighting, some staff fighting and so on,
What´s wrong with the stands from your point of view ?
