  • The "name" Baritones today should retire or else learn HOW TO SING

  • Considering the limits of the record technology of the era( possibly the twenties?) the voice is incredible in it's power and beauty. We must be grateful and remember that this man was already studying singing when Verdi was still alive.

  • Beautiful.

  • superbe voix

  • One of the Mostri Sacri, of the past~ BRAVO !!

    Wonderful post, thank you.

  • Upon pondering and reflection, I sometimes come to the (rather rhetorical) conclusion that there's nothing in the world better than hearing a true dramatic baritone who is both Italian and a fine vocal technician. Granforte is a splendid example:)

  • Listen to his pupil Ricardo Ledesma, one of the best tenor I've ever heard

  • una interpretazione da riferimento....

  • this seems to be pitched in A and not the written B flat

  • This version was the best, is the best and will remain the best.

  • Beautiful interpretation, thank you for posting.

  • One of the great Italian dramatic baritones. Nobody remotely like Granforte has an international career today.

  • @71catoman

    Ridiculous comments, you embarrass yourself!

  • Sublime .

  • One of the greatest!

  • What galaxy are you living on?

  • The same planet as you , My remark was to wind up Apollogranforte who seems to think that Opera singers are the only people who can sing, In my view Granforte is one of the great Masters & Russell Watson can sing well but he is no Opera singer.

  • Are you Jewish ?

  • GRANFORTE IS GREAT!!!you have to listen his'Cortigiani'!!!!!

  • This is a half step low.

  • How gorgeous.

  • Granforte was probably the shortest breathed famous baritone. Hear how he crops up the line. In this he is the exact opposite of Hvorovsosky or Litisian.

Still he is one of my all time favorites. I rank him right after Straciari and before Ruffo among the early baritones.

  • It is great to see Apollo Granforte on youtube. His voice was so warm, rich and powerful. A great Verdi baritone.
