If you crash your car and then try to repair it and it runs again, you can say your repair has succeeded beyond your wildest expectations. But that doesn't necessarily mean its better than not crashing it in the first place.
You people always take this Obama comment out of context and miss what he was saying.
@Christian121y No, I was merely pointing out that, in a perfect world, a surge would not have been necessary; but since it did happen, it is better that it be a success and work than be a failure that costs American lives and wastes taxpayer money for no reason. And that's all Obama was saying. He was not "flip-flopping" as many here have suggested.
If Obama told some of you that the grass in your yard is actually lavender you would praise him for his judgment.
he has been wrong all along on the troop surge and there further proof of this on You Tube. He was interviewed by |Keith Olbermann where he said the surge would fail.
he is making it up as he goes and preying upon the naive people in this country that is evident by the comments made to this video........
Obama was right on the surge! He never said the surge wouldn't help to keep violence down, what he said was it wouldn't achieve Iraq's political goal. What helped the most was the agreement with the Shia's and Sunni's for a cease fire. Obama also said it would take our eyes off Afghanistan and Pakistan, and that our military would be underfunded and would be under in troops! OBAMA HAS BEEN RIGHT ON ALL THE MAJOR ISSUES. MCCAIN HAS NO RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT ATTENDANCE WHEN HIS IS THE WORST IN SENATE
But, that was Obama's position before it changed. But, don't worry we know he is about the future and not about the past. He has never been responsible for his decisions because they really aren't his.
Finally, we have a candidate who is smart. I am so tired of drooling idiots like Bush or liars like Hillary. Duck, sniper fire.
Islam has been written into the Iraq Constitution as the national religion. They have burned every church and beheaded and crucified or chased nearly every Christian out of the country. Maybe that was the "surge". Bush wanted to get rid of the Christians? Was that it?
I can't believe he might be the next President. Hillary works day and night campaigning and Obama shows up at one or two town hall meetings a day and the money rolls in at three times the rate of Hillary. Who is he? He seems to be such a blank slate. And these rallies he have I find more creepy than anything else with all these young women fainting and white frat guys idolizing him. Plus all his mentors and associations with weird religious people. Plus, he just says nothing of substance.
Hey..... It WORKED! And the troops are on their way home. Blow it out your ass.

And I quote:
"I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated," Obama said. "I've already said it's succeeded beyond our wildest dreams."
Flip flop!

@jurassiraptor The liberation of 25 million people from fascism is akin to a car accident?
You're a heartless gutless bastard.

On January 10, 2007, on MSNBC, Obama stated,
"I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, I think it will do the reverse."
Does the fact above, hurt or help your statement and credibility?
