Atheist are pretty much astounding. i love the elemental guitar work and the bass is another story altogether,but its not strictly death metal(i dont even label by genre,but there you go)-its exploring new ideas and importing them into simple structures.absolutely amazing:)

i enjoy this album, even though its not their greatest, and you are right, its poor metal but excellent jazz. they mixed mainstream recognizable progressive jazz into their metal for this particular album.
