Thanks for this demo, nicely explained and great playing BTW! Just wondering, is it worth getting one of these from the cheaper end of the series, the 15 or 30 Watt models to be precise? Are these useful with a low power output or are the cheaper models still good? I would be using this for a practise amp and for band practise in my friends house and for very smalls shows at school or for my friends so I'm not looking to spend really more than 150 pounds on my next amp!! @TheRealSonicYouth No reason why you can't use pedals with Vypyr - it still behaves like any other amp, although the effects are of such a high quality it should hopefully eradicate the need to use most pedals ;-)

I don't know, I bought the 15 watt and the only difference is that it doesn't have the STOMPBOXES dial on it, but it has everything else and I definitely recommend it because the valve scream effect makes for some epic solos, and the delay effect is awesome. You get so much more than 100 bucks worth ( I only payed 50 cuz my bro gets discount and he payed for the remainder)

What a great video, thanks for sharing it with us. Locally my music store, Lanhams has a 75 watt with the sanpera II pedal for $299....great deal. I am impressed with the effects and capabilities of this amp/pedal combination. Being an older dude who has owned a Marshall plexi and many other amps, I can tell you the sound of these mimics them and goes beyond. Peavey vyper is a great amp!

good amp but if u can afford go for the 60w tube version of this amp same amp models same features but u have tubes for that clean and distortion, far better quality sound, and it metal is your forte and u have no use for those effect, get the peavey 6505 true metal guitarist amp with 5 pre amp tube for Superior distortion and if you decide that effects is a must, Boss me-25 for 200 bucks plenty of effects get any sound from any band u want

Also, the "Rack"effects are set after the amp chain, so they behave as though they are added in an effects loop. The "Stomp" effects go in before the amp, simulating the pedals you have on the floor that go between your guitar and the amp.

@Emceetem definitely get a good guitar and amp...i'd suggest a les paul special 2 or an SG special...you probably arent gonna need the stomp pedal till you get really good at playing...atleast, well, if you're a beginner like me :p

I used to be a Dean and Gibson guy, I used to see the name Fender and just frown upon it, and talk major trash about single coil pickups. I bought a cheap squier and I plugged that sum bitch in and I could not believe the tone. I had to sell it, and I miss it every single day. Anything that says Fender is good. I prefer strats over tele's. But both are nice guitars.

Even at one it seems to loud for home use, not just a bit loud, i mean like shaking things loud. Even at low channel volume the high gain settings just blow the hell out of everything. the line 6 can not compare to the peavey vypyr because of the variety of sounds and effects on the vypyr. the vypyr is one of the best practice amps out there right now they are low price and have a great sound. line 6 is a good buy but peavey is the way to go

Out of the amps in my price range, here is a good example of things.

Peavey Vypyr: Complete crap, no point.

Line 6 Spider IV: Decent, not the best choice.

Vox Vt30: The way to go, nothing sounds better than in that price range.

defanitly peavys better with line 6, vox is good until you get into the lager models. if you like presets this amp is perfect but if you like using pedals or just clean sound i would go with a fender delux and if there are non of those left on earth a good marshall

My amp gets here on Monday.. I will compare it to the Line 6 spider II 120 and post comments here. So far what I heard about the "TRANSTUBE" Technology, It should emulate that tube sound pretty close. (great for a simple practice amp) I will post comments once I test it.

Had some time to play with the Vypyr...Way more tones and models than my line 6..I really like this amp. I will be upgrading to the tube version. The choice was easy for me. I will be selling my line 6 and my Vypyr 75.. for the vypyr tube 60. I love this amp. GO VYPYR. If you like that tube sound and have the cash go for the tube 60 . The solid state version is still one of the best modeling solid state amps (in my opinion) I just like the way it sounds.

I have the vox vt30 and its a pretty good amp it seems a little thin sounding and not gigable unless miked, but overall I am very happy with it hope this helps.
