keep in mind you just watched a 10 part infomercial. You will NOT have a Brigadier general out helping you or comforting you. On a reality scale, this is about a 2 1/2 out of 10. It was carefully directed and filmed by experts who got paid to get your attention and SELL A BRAND NAME.
Why should he be court martialed? He's honest. They don't show everything in these videos, it won't change a prospective recruits mind either way. If you want to be a Marine, you want it. Nothing will stop you. It didn't stop me and I knew it would be Hell.
I want to join up but my parents don't want me to. I want to respect there wishes but in three years I willake my own decision to join up and become a Marine
I asked one of My Substitute Teachers what combat was like and he said "Combat is like being in a endless hail of Fire from Hell, and It is not What situation you want to be in." and I told this one National Guard Private that I am becoming a Marine, He smiled and said "So you Want to be a Jarhead? Well give em' hell." a Marine Said "It is not impossible to become who you want to be for your Career, but as long as you don't hesitate you can make it."
@STEWIErulz3015 ive been told the same thing. Stick with your guns go for the USMC. in the long run its your life so do what u want to do if thats being a USMC basic riflemen then go for it or if its to be USAF technician go for it i have chosen the USMC and I'm just waiting for one waiver and ill swear in. Good luck
@STEWIErulz3015 If you really want to be a Marine, then do it. You don't want to live the regret that you didn't do what your heart was set on. But, if another branch is what you want, by all means go for that too. It is your choice completely.
The Marine at the end of the video that gets choked up talking about the Corps speaks volumes of what the Corps means to all Marines. I'm thankful for my time spent in the Corps and the things I was able to achieve. I'm certainly a better man, husband, and father. Semper Fi to all those Marines who proudly serve this country currently and those who have in the past.
this is a great documentary but i feel it really left out us west coast marines who had to endure boot camp as well but is not really mentioned because our base is not a hystorical location of the marine corp
A neat documentary, I really enjoyed it, although I feel the propaganda was far too obvious at times. Nothing but pride in everyone? No regrets, ever? Don't get mad, I don't mean any disrespect here, but as a foreigner most of the patriotic stuff sounded somehow phoney. WWII volunteers did probably join because of it, but aren't getting a job or a thirst for adventure more plausible explanations today? Do people from the suburbs join, or just poor whites together with some blacks and hispanics?
@HerrOttoKranz Uhh no people from all walks of life join the Marine Corp alot of people tho do join the Marines an make a mistake and sometimes get lied to cause its such a shitty life for like infantry they PT every day because they have to prepare for war at anytime i dont know if u have worked out everyday for a long time but shit gets old but im not poor and iv wanted to be a Marine all my life and I will serve and die for my country any day.
Any prospective recurits, be aware that the entirety of this program has been completely staged to present a skewed, soft view of the USMC. Believe me, the Colonel and Brigadier general will not be in charge of your safety, welfare, and professional developement. It'll be the asshole Sergeant like me that won't accept your stupid shit. If you want this life, don't believe that this series reflects an accurate depiction.
Leadership:- the sum of those qualities of intellect, moral character and human understanding that allows an individual to control and inspire a group of people successfully.

watching this reminds me what im fighting for as a active duty marine the sacrifices that my fellow brothers and sisters of the corps made the remembering of the chaos of boot camp to the hell of combat they say that we dont like combat well there right we do what we have to and im proud to be able to say i am a marine and that i will die so that people can keep there freedoms because thats what im fighting for to my fellow devil dogs OORAH!! i love you all
"I would like people to realize that when they are watching footage of a squad of marines walking down a street in Falujah, or a body bag coming off of a helicopter, that could be their son, their neighbor, it could be the kid down the street. "
this video inspired me even more to become a Marine....i've talked to a recruiter and i was told i gotta lose some weight which i am working on....my bro is a Marine and like him i would like to be one too.
Too bad it's nuclear weapons that keep China's 200,000,000 soldiers at bay, as opposed to the 100,000-300,000 Marines. Fortunately for us Americans that's the way the world works, other wise China and their chink bunny reproducing would rule the world by now.
Great informational video, covers nearly all aspects of the Marines. Thank you the post. Amped to go to OCS this summer. Thank you to all the men and women of the Marine corps serving oversees.
greatest part of my life was serving in the USMC. its amazing to be able to see basically your entire military career in a video. to all my fallen brothers semper fi. to all the people who want to devote their life to the corps. i would just like to say good luck and dont give up it pays off in the end.
I have to say, hanging out with my marine buddy and his fire team back in college were some of the most jovial times I had experienced. To see the unconditional love they have for each other was very humbling. I felt honored to be sharing a beer with such men. Semper Fi, Godspeed.

just got out the Corp, and i hated ever time i had to walk past this sign at work that said "before u get out, just think how good it fits." i knew at the time i was giving up the best job i ever had, which was being a marine. but getting out was something i had to do. this documentary was the best i saw about the corp, it almost leave me in tears

This was great!! I really enjoyed and learned alot about the USMC. I have a close friend joining the Marine Corps and i now understand what he'll be going through. To all you Marines out there serving.. thank you!
Awesome video! General Christmas was the C.G. of 3rd FSSG when I was on Okinawa and thus was the inspecting general for my unit's CG inspection. The man still looks the same!
This is a truly outstanding series....enormously patriotic, realistic, and an honorable display of the Corps. As a civilian in my 60's, and a wannabe Marine, I am humbled by our Corps and their warrior ethos....that brotherhood...my nephew's four years were an experience for the entire family....He is a better man for it...and we are better Americans for his service. God bless our Marines now and forever. They are the best.
Just finished watching all 10 parts, and to say the least this is the best Informational Marine Video out there. Even if you do not want to be a Marine, this makes you feel proud to be an American. For me, the most emotional and inspirational part was the Marine who lost his hands, he is a true Marine and American. How can people not support the troops when they see people like him? To all Marines out there, thank you.
@EvilStealth64 omg that guy took my breath away. His resolve, his utter embodiment of what a marine is and should be. Every marine I ever met shares his resolve, I've met combat veterans from Vietnam, one who extended his tour just so his brother could go home so he kjnew that if he died, his brother could take care of Mom.... THAT is what being a marine is all about folks. God Bless every one of them. FANTASTIC series!!!!! Thanks for posting these videos!!!!!!!
best show ever now the people on youtube will no wat the marines are doin everyday on the frontlines and y they go in to harm's way im joinin the corp
I dont like the new EGA ceremonies... I got my EGA on top of the reaper upon completion of the crucible and was called a Marine at that time. Parade deck ceremonies just dont jive with me. Getting my EGA on top of a mountain was a lot more symbolic.
I think the point is that the EGA is awarded on the last day and it symbolizes that you have become a Marine, awarding that a week ahead of that is different. I see what you mean but I think it is probably more effective to people and more rewarding to have to awarded to them at the vary end and so it symbolizes an end and a beginning.
It was the same with me...I got mine in September 1997, Mike 3115, and it was very symbolic on top of that hellish mountain. To each his own I guess. Semper Fi.
love it

Just finished watching all 10 parts, and to say the least this is the best Informational Marine Video out there. Even if you do not want to be a Marine, this makes you feel proud to be an American. For me, the most emotional and inspirational part was the Marine who lost his hands, he is a true Marine and American. How can people not support the troops when they see people like him? To all Marines out there, thank you.

Selfish people could never understand the mind set a person must have to give everything to their country.

@EvilStealth64
yeah but they did put in the sniper school, but i would have to agree with you totally, iam going to become a marine and possibly a marine sniper.
keitaroryuu 11 months ago
@EvilStealth64 omg that guy took my breath away. His resolve, his utter embodiment of what a marine is and should be. Every marine I ever met shares his resolve, I've met combat veterans from Vietnam, one who extended his tour just so his brother could go home so he kjnew that if he died, his brother could take care of Mom.... THAT is what being a marine is all about folks. God Bless every one of them. FANTASTIC series!!!!! Thanks for posting these videos!!!!!!!

I dont like the new EGA ceremonies... I got my EGA on top of the reaper upon completion of the crucible and was called a Marine at that time. Parade deck ceremonies just dont jive with me. Getting my EGA on top of a mountain was a lot more symbolic.
lighthammer2531 2 years ago
hehe that's kind of wierd lol, im more of a ceromony and parents would be there when your called a marine :D i think :D.....
AsILayDyingOWNS77 2 years ago
THE ega ceremony on the parade deck ended around 2007 when did you go to bootcamp??

I think the point is that the EGA is awarded on the last day and it symbolizes that you have become a Marine, awarding that a week ahead of that is different. I see what you mean but I think it is probably more effective to people and more rewarding to have to awarded to them at the vary end and so it symbolizes an end and a beginning.
sidescrollin 2 years ago
It was the same with me...I got mine in September 1997, Mike 3115, and it was very symbolic on top of that hellish mountain. To each his own I guess. Semper Fi.
