Nope, the keel is laminated 2x8s and not even fiberglass over it. I read something about the solid wood flexing and breaking the glass so I didn't cover it, just paint. I was going to give it an MDF strip but finally tacked a sacrificial wood strip on the keel which has already been sacrificed due to clumsy trailer work. Boating fun?
Nothing better than a drywallers T-square for laying out boat parts on plywood.
