try doing a natural harmonic, i.e. you play over the metal bar bit gently as if your tuning a guitar and then when its ringing out you push on the string past the nut and it will make a squeal sound. It's hard to explain but padge does it like that live he explained it in a video.

He gets the harmonic, and then does the "whammy effect" at the top, by the machine heads. Search up "Michael Paget Teaches Lead Section of Waking The Demon" by UltimateMetalGuitar, and Padge will show you how to play it. So there you go.
