  • aschindler22 brought up a good point in a previous comment.

Does anyone know of a test that determines actual "intoxication" from THC, cocaine, or other drugs? Unfortunately, even though this may be a reasonable and ethical thing to consider, it's still a totally moot point as long as pot and other drugs are illegal.

As an MA who administers various drug screens for employers, I've long thought that this system is messed up. Also, I've never seen a test for hallucinogens. Shrooms, anyone?

  • Pre-employment drug testing is illegal in Canada? Damn, now that's a law I can respect. My own country is behind... (sigh)

  • That's why I you don't do drugs before a job interview because they will always find a way. It helps to to know about half-lives of drugs and your own metabolism rate.

  • i can understand ur boss not wanting u to be high at the job but u could smoke like 20 days ago and still fail the fucken drug test its bs

  • How do you prevent the sample from being contaminated? Maybe you just paid for a cup of coffee earlier in the morning with a ten dollar bill and the change you got was a dollar bill someone other than yourself was snorting cocaine with it got on your hands now your a drug addict !!! You cock suckers think your so smart remember people wakeup drug testing its just another form of tyranny nothing less.

  • its a trick. Instead of using the urine as sample, they are using the sweat from his hands that he left on the container.

  • WTF?!??!?!

that mad no sense AT ALL!!

  • yes it did, theyr screening his sweat off touching the cup. thats why it says dnt sweat it at the end!

  • Need to PASS a drug test??? Watch my video for a REAL solution.. peace out

  • stfu u spammer

  • I can understand the hard drugs because I've been there, but this country and marijuana is absolutely ludicrous! As a chronic pain sufferer and not living in one of the more compassionate states pisses me the fu*k off! I didn't fight in Vietnam for this kind of bullshit. I gotta worry about "wizzanators" while 1/3 the country it's not only legal to carry but to grow your own, major bullshit man!!!

  • I dont get this.

  • I don't get it...lol.

  • never happen

  • lmao damn just dont juse shit man

  • sorry but that gatiga shit wont fly

  • Thanks god pre-employment drug testing is illegal in Canada.

Drug tests are an invasion of privacy and show no regard for civil liberties. They are only necessary in 1/10th of the cases they are used in.

  • i wish it was like that here in the u.s.

its completely ridiculous to drug test employees. what i do in my free time does not affect who i am in the work place or at school..

  • They are illegal in canada? Damn. The usa is going down the dumps.

  • Check their website. They recommend that this be used on students lockers at random! The Supreme court has said unless the student is involved in extra circular actives that they cannot drug test us. If I find out my school is using this both the school and "IDS"(The company that makes this horrible product) will both are going to be sued. The school for violating the first amendment and court order, and IDS for being an accessory to the crime. Me and the ACLU can't wait to see you in court!!!

  • ok this is a good idea but it is not a final test cause if you test money you will get positive results and...how many of us handle money ???

  • good point mace41canuck a majority of currency contains traces of cocaine as it is transfered from hand to hand.

  • "ebenji877" no thanks im not the tipe to fuck a drug tester or boss in the ass hole and i dont think u shuld ether its kinda grose r u a homo?......nm dont tell me.

  • Actually, drug testing was first started because companies claimed they were losing money on employees who were habitually absent or late on Monday mornings or were calling out ill quite often. They can say it is about safety - such as truckers, doctors, etc. - but initially it was started for the same reason ANYTHING is done. Follow the money. Since employers who worried about the bottom line started it - now just about all employers are doing it. If you refuse the test, you won't get the job.

  • You know, i've been looking how to execute this technique for a good while not, and look where i go and find it, somebody thats trying to stop people from passing drug test lol, that elmers glue bottle is a great idea by the way, now im gonna blaze some trees

  • yes its crazy....marijauan is the most tested for since its in ur body longest...smoke till ya die!!! which will be when Ur 80

  • Yeah! And even taking cough syrup can trigger false positives for opiates and pcp. These tests are pure bullshit!

  • Employee drug testing, (like almost all drug testing) is wrong, and is an invasion of privacy. Drug tests are extremely anti-constitutional. Any company that makes drug tests, is anti-freedom and anti-American in my book.

For example, in the case of a Marijuana user... What he does in the evenings or weekends with himself, has absolutely no effect on his work performance during the week... And no employer has the right to know about it. PERIOD.

  • Exactly right. Nosey fucking bastards, fuck them in the ass.

  • this is not and will never be regulated

  • lol this is why people resort to violence, and drugs because they can't get good jobs... Anyway im gonna go smoke some trees now... Peace!

  • you bastards

  • Thats crazy. Its amazing the things we can do now and days. People cant get away with anything. LOL

  • Can they really find out if you have done drugs by testing your skin cells.

  • Yes, though it works by testing sweat, rather than skin cells. As people sweat, they release harmful toxins from their bodies, which includes any drugs that may be in their systems. So, drug users leave an invisible trail of drug residue on surfaces they touch like phones, computers, etc. Kind of CSI-like, huh?!

  • @idsdrugtesting have you herd about how many dollar bills have cocaine on them ?

  • @sweetnector08 you are what you eat

  • As for using saliva for DOT tests, they would be stupid. Saliva testing goes back 12-24 hours. I know people who smoked the night before and passed the next morning. This would totally be an inaccurate test and DOT never will go to this test.

As far as hair, DOT tried to go to this, but there are studies that proove hair testing is flawed because people who have been around smoke but have never smoked can test positive for pot. Hair absorbs the toxins.

  • True, there are issues with saliva, hair, and even sweat testing. But is urine that much better? It's subject to false positives, false negatives, substitution, and adulteration.

Bottom line is there's no PERFECT drug test. They all have their plusses and minuses. Each employer, school, parent needs to determine which one (or combination) is the best fit for their situation.

  • Additionally, I am in the drug testing field and most companies will not go to this method because they are either testing under DOT guidelines (which can ONLY be urine) and if you are employed your screen (which this is) must go through a gc/ms. This test can be used to weed out potential employees or give a good preliminary result, but it still cannot get you fired. Anyways, there are companies out there working on beating this tests with lotions anyways. It will just be a matter of time.

  • Yes, you are absolutely right, this is meant to be a preliminary screen. As with any type of drug test, you always want to give someone the benefit of the doubt and give them the option of having a confirmation test performed. I'd never recommend firing someone based on this technology. (However, false positives and false negatives are NOT issues with this test.)

  • DOT has revised guidelines coming soon that will allow sweat, hair, blood, and saliva tests. Even so, plenty of companies under DOT guidelines are currently using this technology to ensure a drug-free workforce because they realize the pitfalls of random, urine tests.

As far as the court cases, they've all been criminal court cases - no one has ever challenged its use in an employment setting.

    Thanks for your comments!

  • It is against DOT guidelines to use this test. You are only allowed to collect urine when it comes to DOT testing. Anything else is against regulations and will not be accepted. The employer or lab could be easily shut down, or sued. DOT is very strict and guidelines are available online on their website.

  • Yes, companies under DOT guidelines have to do urine testing to comply with the DOT regulations. I know, I've read them. But there is nothing that states they can't use other tests to go above and beyond the guidelines to ensure a drug-free workplace. Companies know there are vulnerabilities in the DOT system. They use a test like ours to swipe down company-owned surfaces to help find drug users who know how to beat the DOT system (and, speaking from experience, there are A LOT of them!).

  • Please site incidents where this held up. I have found nothing.

This test is a screen which can have false positives for substances (like ibuprofin, nyquil, etc). Anything like this will be need to be confirmed with a gc/ms test to hold up in any type of court of law and you are not collecting enough sample to run it through that machine. These are just preliminary tests that really prove nothing unless you are negative.

  • These do not legally hold up in court.

  • Actually, they do . . . and have many times.

  • Who ever came up them that thing needs to be shot in the head.

  • that's wild. hope my boss doesn't use that thing.
