Toumani Diabate is one of the greats! He started many cross-over projects and was the first kora player who introduced rock and pop elements into traditional Mande Music. There is no better just different.
Ablaye just happens to sing as well and grow up next to the biggest Jazz Festival West Africas. He developed richer harmonies and progressions, but at the same time hold up the tradition by rearranging them. As did Toumani.
Currently we are preparing our next trio record. Huge Surprise!
The discovery of this album and the union of these two artist has truly been a moving and pivotal experience for me musically. Such longing and sadness in the music, yet so much hope. I've not had music touch me so deeply since the album "A Meeting by the River" by VM Bhatt and Ry Cooder. Please come to Ohio!
