I absolutetly loved this song when it came out and the movie as well. But seeing it again, brings back all the old memories and good times that we had way back when.
i always wondered if the Russians hadn't of boycotted the 84 Olympics would we have been made to suffer through the crap-tastic "gymnast" films of American Anthem & Gym-katta?
Tx I had forgotten how good this song is and how good Andy's voice is. I think DD lack something now that he's not part of the group. LOL now at the video - the hair, the dancing, the clothes...so late 80's. I loved it and remember it well.
Awful film, great song by Andy Taylor. Seriously, he was MINT on the AXE. Put the Duran Duran opinions away...this guy, solo, was a great 80's axe man. He's no Clapton or Neal Schon but he was seriously good. Check it out.
I have to give andy Taylor credit for trying something outside of duran duran. it a great rockin' tune. it unfortunate that his solo album flopped in the us.
K, so you "can't say you turn me on" but you want me to stay all night long? If you weren't so hot Andy there would just be no fucking way after that one haha
forgot how good andy taylor really was when he broke away from duran duran. wish he had more cd's than the one. 80's music really did rock. not like the crap we listen to today.
It's funny how for the last 25 years I always remembered how hot I thought Janet Jones was in this video. Now that I finally had the presence of mind to look it up on YouTube I see now that all the spots I remember so vividly probably take up less than 10 seconds of the total video. Somehow I'm not surprised that a teenager could have burned 10 seconds permenantly into the brain. Regardless, she was pretty hot, even more so within the 80's context. Today that look is dated, but still yummy.
This is (To me) the most catchy tune on "thunder". It's sad how his album failed. Even he admitted this in Behind The Music. I mean this has nowhere near the edge of the first 3 Duran Duran albums, but it shows he can sing on his own without Simon leading. I think he could have had better producers and promotion though. I think he deserved a better shot at going solo. I read his autobiography, "Wild Boy: My Life In Duran Duran". Boy it sheds light on everything, especially in the DD Story....
You have to remember, Power Station was NOT the original band to do "Bang A Gong"...the original artist was Marc Bolan and T. Rex...go listen to the original, its a ton better than Power Station's version!
It's a shame anyone calls todays sounds, "music". The only good thing about today's talent, is that you dont need talent. As long as you look half decent, can cackle out some words, and dance, you made it!!! With all bullshit high speed dance beats!
so sad he was/is ignored for the most part....his voice is better than Si's why is he the only lead singer in D2 even tho Andy and John both have good voices?
I'm pretty sure Andy done another video version of this song because I remember him and the band on a small stage and Andy wearing the tight jeans and leather jacket and Andy had part of his hair tide back. I wonder what happen to that video?
@rocksolid4life The song was released in Australia as well and he could of done another video clip for the song instead of the American version of the video clip. I go on his My Space site and ask him. Andy is still an awesome musician and gorgeous as well.
I forgot how awesome this song sounded! Thanks for posting this. I always liked this song. I went to high school 1983-87. This song pop is my head and I wanted to hear it again. Listening to songs like this and the Power Station stuff you can understand why he wanted away from Duran Duran where the guitar work was much different and often times secondary to the keyboard. Shame he couldn't have had the best of both worlds, like how Stevie Nicks did with her solo stuff and Fleetwood Mac.
Say what you must about who he is a fan of,,,he is a guitarist an broke away from duan duran, this is cool and woud love to see him do more on his own!
When I saw the title, the firtst thing that popped in my head is "could it be Sherriff Andy Tailor (Andy Griffith) actually singing a song on a video?"
I never said that no one was better than Neil. Check out the top rock drummer lists, Neil will always be toward the top. Why do they call him the "Professor"? Probably because he is one of the best drummers out there.
thats right man,... I forgot Bozzio played this song,... wow a stripped down double kick kit with only about 6 cymbals,.... nice he can lay down a nice rock groove....

Holy Fucking Shit!! I remember this song. It's been about 15 years since I've seen this video. Looking back now, cool song, but the video looks like a Guess Jeans commercial.
