  • I absolutetly loved this song when it came out and the movie as well. But seeing it again, brings back all the old memories and good times that we had way back when.

    Love it!

  • 1986!!! i remember it well.

I wish i could go back in time. i didnt even know how lucky i was as a kid of the 80's!

  • Great song!!!

  • mrs wayne gretzky!

  • i always wondered if the Russians hadn't of boycotted the 84 Olympics would we have been made to suffer through the crap-tastic "gymnast" films of American Anthem & Gym-katta?

  • Tx I had forgotten how good this song is and how good Andy's voice is. I think DD lack something now that he's not part of the group. LOL now at the video - the hair, the dancing, the clothes...so late 80's. I loved it and remember it well.

  • I Love this song .

  • Ahhh, the summer of 86. Fresh out of high school and not a care in the world.

  • I've always loved this song..........

  • this is the ultimate fucking guilty pleasure song

  • when i think gymnastics, i dont think 'club cool'. andy saves the day here, in a big way.

  • Well he reminds me of "John Cougar Mellencamp" .-)

  • Piss poor.

  • No Andy Taylor.. NO DURAN DURAN!

  • No Andy Taylor.. NO DURAN DURAN!

  • Awful film, great song by Andy Taylor. Seriously, he was MINT on the AXE. Put the Duran Duran opinions away...this guy, solo, was a great 80's axe man. He's no Clapton or Neal Schon but he was seriously good. Check it out.

  • @TheBrevo You're damn right - this guy can shred. Criminally underrated.

  • GREAT ANDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY COME BACK AGAIN IN DURAN DURAN PLEASE!!!

  • Awesome style.Awesome song.Andy rulez!!!

  • Janet Jones-had such a boner for her in the 80's. Great song, thanks for posting.

  • I just realized this song sounds like Bang A Gong Get It On by T. Rex, a tune the Power Station covered.

  • Andy Taylor was the guitarist in Power Station for their cover of T-Rex' Bang A Gong, Get It On.

  • Andy hit #24 in Billboard, 8-2-86. Who knew that he was such a good singer, in his own right? God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I have to give andy Taylor credit for trying something outside of duran duran. it a great rockin' tune. it unfortunate that his solo album flopped in the us.

  • i didn't realize at the time Janet Jones was in this video. Then again,I hadn't a clue who she was until Wayne Gretzky married her.

  • Much better than Do what I do :)

  • love john taylor but andy and simon were the voices in duran duran

  • love him and his voice

  • K, so you "can't say you turn me on" but you want me to stay all night long? If you weren't so hot Andy there would just be no fucking way after that one haha

  • Love this song!!! It still rocks!! Isn't Russell Wong wearing the beret?

  • Awesome song!!! Still sounds good! ...isn't that Russell Wong wearing the beret?

  • Awesome song!!! Still sounds good! ...isn't that Russell Wong wearing the beret?

  • forgot how good andy taylor really was when he broke away from duran duran. wish he had more cd's than the one. 80's music really did rock. not like the crap we listen to today.

  • sharon osbourne is the true evil in this world!!!!!

  • SUPER !

  • It's funny how for the last 25 years I always remembered how hot I thought Janet Jones was in this video. Now that I finally had the presence of mind to look it up on YouTube I see now that all the spots I remember so vividly probably take up less than 10 seconds of the total video. Somehow I'm not surprised that a teenager could have burned 10 seconds permenantly into the brain. Regardless, she was pretty hot, even more so within the 80's context. Today that look is dated, but still yummy.

  • best part of this video is the fine Janet>> what an ass..

  • @Beatles6919 Wayne Gretzsky took that piece of ass off the market.

  • @ugalawdog98 he's known as the Great One for a reason....or Lucky One...

  • this is music!

  • this is music !

  • good song is better than justin gaybier ¬¬

  • I FORGOT HOW MUCH FUN IT WAS TO BE A SOPHMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL IN 1984 WHEN THIS CAME OUT!!!

  • I had this on a 45" record...

  • 99, you are a lucky, lucky man!!!!

  • Only if I could go back to the 80's... I would be a rock star!!!

  • yeah.........ilove it too......

  • ok seriously raped the replay button....I love this tune!!

  • This is (To me) the most catchy tune on "thunder". It's sad how his album failed. Even he admitted this in Behind The Music. I mean this has nowhere near the edge of the first 3 Duran Duran albums, but it shows he can sing on his own without Simon leading. I think he could have had better producers and promotion though. I think he deserved a better shot at going solo. I read his autobiography, "Wild Boy: My Life In Duran Duran". Boy it sheds light on everything, especially in the DD Story....

  • Really cool tune.

  • WTF! 10 people dont want to take it easy?

  • I have liked this song for the longest time and I play it while I ride my skateboard around the streets on manhattan.

  • You have to remember, Power Station was NOT the original band to do "Bang A Gong"...the original artist was Marc Bolan and T. Rex...go listen to the original, its a ton better than Power Station's version!

  • back when they made great music not every other word #!@!@# out

  • It's a shame anyone calls todays sounds, "music". The only good thing about today's talent, is that you dont need talent. As long as you look half decent, can cackle out some words, and dance, you made it!!! With all bullshit high speed dance beats!

  • Todays music only pales in comparision to our 80's glam rock!

  • @LisaAsh36 This song makes me feel good everytime I listen to it.

  • @LisaAsh36 i agree i don't know what has happened to today's music.

  • Catchy tune, for sure. But why steal the riff from "Bang A Gong"....even if you were in the band?

  • Cock rock. Love it!

  • great song. sounds very power station like but still unique.

  • @pedro3dynamite

probably was on of the power station song never released. Who knows

  • WOOOHOOO..........LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!! <3<3<3

  • What a great song.

  • great song and great voice.......and never gets old. We need another album Andy - I don't care how long it's been!

  • The riff sounds so similar to what he did in power station

  • so sad he was/is ignored for the most part....his voice is better than Si's why is he the only lead singer in D2 even tho Andy and John both have good voices?

  • the main riff sounds alot like "bang a gong"

  • my band did this in high school i love this song still

  • myband in high school did this tune i loved it

  • Is this Janet Jones in the Music Video, a well?

  • aahhhh, the memories are flooding back..LOL

  • I use to jam to this song in high school, lol!!! Kick ass song then....and now!!

  • he is an awsome musician and sexy too.

  • i did not know that johnny depp could play guitart

  • I used to blast this song everyday!!

  • HIt #24 in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • Ha ha, at 38 seconds, sexy ass Russell Wong!

  • gothard

  • love the 80´s!!

  • he looks like dog from "scum of the earth"as seen on wkrp

  • Rockin!

  • I'm pretty sure Andy done another video version of this song because I remember him and the band on a small stage and Andy wearing the tight jeans and leather jacket and Andy had part of his hair tide back. I wonder what happen to that video?

  • @ladystrange that was the one for When the Rain Comes Down.

  • @rocksolid4life The song was released in Australia as well and he could of done another video clip for the song instead of the American version of the video clip. I go on his My Space site and ask him. Andy is still an awesome musician and gorgeous as well.

  • How come Janet Gretzky's kids all look like Rick Tochet?

  • @profsvensen Yeah he was tapping that!

  • @profsvensen same reason Rick Tochett's kids look like George Laraque I suppose....

  • @scottgt6 I didn't know Rick Tochet's kids were Black? Wasn't he just a tad suspicious? Or is he that retarded?

  • @profsvensen Ask her.

  • @ugalawdog98 I tried but she had a mouthful of pecker at the time!

  • tengo varios anos viendo este video...y sigo pensando que esta mujer es hermosa........ufffff....wow.....

  • I forgot how awesome this song sounded! Thanks for posting this. I always liked this song. I went to high school 1983-87. This song pop is my head and I wanted to hear it again. I thought is was the Power Station, then thought it could be Arcadia. After a few search engine tries I remembered Andy Taylor also released songs and found it.

  • YAY Andy Taylor did an awesome job on this song! I love this album!!!!

  • Listening to songs like this and the Power Station stuff you can understand why he wanted away from Duran Duran where the guitar work was much different and often times secondary to the keyboard. Shame he couldn't have had the best of both worlds, like how Stevie Nicks did with her solo stuff and Fleetwood Mac.

  • hit #24 in Billboard. Did it chart in the UK?

  • @DaveWollenberg -unsure but cannot remember if u.k. top 40-but very catchy!!

  • I watched the movie and had the soundtrack. awesome!!

  • dont give me a reason...

and I wont ask for nothin'

  • andy taylor is so awesome. i've been a fan of his for years. I still think he can do better without duran duran.

  • I use to take easy!!!

  • I just love Andy Taylor.

  • sounds just like him on power station 'get it on' - booooo....

  • Comment removed

  • I loved this song when i was a kid, and this movie. Still a good song:)

  • Janet Jones-Gretzky...so Hawt!

  • Say what you must about who he is a fan of,,,he is a guitarist an broke away from duan duran, this is cool and woud love to see him do more on his own!

  • about the taylors :

read somwhere , the are not brothers

and other , have only same name

  • Bozzio is in the video, but its Thompson playing the real drums on the track. Both so different but both great drummers.

  • tony thompson was the drummer, also played with Bowie on several albums, the Taylors are from Duran Duran

  • When I saw the title, the firtst thing that popped in my head is "could it be Sherriff Andy Tailor (Andy Griffith) actually singing a song on a video?"

  • what is that motorhead!

  • he must be a fan of T-Rex lol.....

  • Check out Power Station. Him, his brother and Robert Palmer. They actually cover some Trex songs.

  • Okay...correction...Guess John and he are not brothers..lol

  • Holy shit - that IS Bozzio! Crazy. From Zappa to this to Fantomas. He can do it all.

  • oh yeah, that drummers better than neil peart, yeah right

  • Oooooooooh...NO ONE is better than Neil Peart!!!

  • I never said that no one was better than Neil. Check out the top rock drummer lists, Neil will always be toward the top. Why do they call him the "Professor"? Probably because he is one of the best drummers out there.

  • domingo cura

  • Wow after seeing this old clip, I need to pull out my Thunder Cd again. Forgot how much I loved this song.

  • Better than yo yo yo and trampstamps !

  • Andy Taylor, para mí la mejor parte de Duran Duran

  • Exhibit A for those who think that Terry Bozzio only plays melodic complicate pieces on drums. The man can groove!

  • thats right man,... I forgot Bozzio played this song,... wow a stripped down double kick kit with only about 6 cymbals,.... nice he can lay down a nice rock groove....

  • I forgot how much I LOVE this song!!!

  • @christinalorene1969 Im with you.

This song is better today(2010) and it is such a great grooovy song and heavy drums mixed with Andy's voice....and his fucking strings of wood!!!

  • @ultrachrome13 Ya faaaagot da guitar ! haha

  • thanks for the vid!!!

  • dear heavenly father of all that is good...that video was just....AWFUL!!! So AWFUL I felt second-hand embarassment for Andy Taylor....god how I LOVE it!! The 80's will forever RULE!!!

  • Get it on!! part 2

  • I used to hate Andy when he first left Duran Duran. But now I love him for leaving Duran Duran.

  • Liked it as a kid, but the riff sounds exactly as Bang a Gong by the Power Station.

  • It is. Andy got permission because he was in power station!

  • that's a T Rex song........

  • LOL @ 1:29. The drummer has to stand up to hit those ridiculous cymbals that are hanging ten feet in the air. Awesome.

And thanks for posting this. I've been hunting this song down on and off for about ten years trying to figure out who sang it.

    No, google. Not Don Williams.

  • takes me back, wayne's wife is a hottie

  • Not that good to be honest...

  • THIS SONG WAS KILLER!!!!! I used to think he was the brit's john couger mellencamp

  • God this one brings me back...

  • meee tooooo

  • Yes it was post power staion. But still cool. He got together with Terry bozzio drums, "missing persons just broke up then" guitarist Steve Jones from sex pistols. How cool is that alone. Man, that was a Loong time ago.

  • is this pre or post power station? b/c the guitar riff sounds exactly like get it on/bang a gong (yes, i know that's a TRex cover).

  • I actually went to see this movie simply to hear Andy Taylor's music.

To say the movie was bad is being kind.

    Andy's music kicked ass.

  • dewd yeah ,-- andy taylor but Terry Bozzio on drums!!! To cool!!

  • I'm a big Duran Duran fanatic. Andy Taylor is one of the most underrated guitarists out there. Great guitarist... He deserves far more credit and exposure than most musicians.

By the way does anyone know why he quit or got booted out of Duran Duran? Is he on drugs or addicted to alcohol?

  • I think the first time round was 'cos he didnt like the musical direction.... the more recent one is still unsolved but some say it was to do with him falling out with the management team of DD.

  • Great song, horrible movie, except for Janet Jones in a gymnastics leotard. Mr. Gretzky, my hat is off to you sir!

  • Great freaking song. Mitch Gaylor was spectacular the movie S*ck Big time.

  • What a hot woman congrats to Wayne G. you married one beautiful woman.

  • It's Mickey Rourke! Andy Taylor is a dead ringer for "The Wrestler" star in this one. Great song. Another overlooked gem from the 80's.

  • American Anthem was OK but nothing can compare to the greatness that is "GYMKATA"1

  • Terry Bozzio on drums!

  • Haven't heard this for years!! Thanks for sharing, ambrsmm7!!!

  • Thanks for posting. I haven't heard this in over 20 years and it brings back alot of great memories. :)

  • that's what i'm talking about!!!

  • fantastic , fantastic...i love it

  • Voll genieal das Video...toller Rock 5*****

    Lg.

    tino

  • there is coverversion from

    gotthard on the homerun cd

    very great cover tune !!!

  • Would be a great song to cover

  • This is one of the great songs of the 80's. Too bad it doesn't make any of the 80's hits compilations. In the past someone posted a live version that Andy did in Japan, as well as a live version done on a New Year's Eve show (circa 1987). Unfortuantly, I can no longer find these videos on YouTube.

  • I agree with bru5520! Today's music/bands just don't have the same soul (i.e. "Balls") that bands from the 60s-early 90s did. Today its about the money rather than the music. Don't get me wrong, occasionally there'll be a song or a band that does show some heart, but sadly, the music industry makes them sell out or fade away. Just my humble opinion...

  • hey what that old rock song that says... its all right!!! take it easy!!

  • if Andy could sing so well why did Simon sing every D2 song? I like Simon's voice but y'know?I have this cassette tape LOL

  • Along with "Two Hearts" by John Parr, this appears at the end of the old Karl-Lorimar VHS of American Anthem, which I own.

  • This is one of my favorite song in this movie. I loved this movie. i dont care how old it is still a great movie. and man he was sooo hot.

  • jamás creí que esta canción fuere de Andy Taylor, ¿de qué año es? me encanta, la canción, él y su baile!

  • 1987 yo tango la cassette!

  • music was awesome back then, today's bands just dont have soul,i still listen to music from back in the 80s often, thanks for posting

  • can i just say thank u for this video. I loved this song. Shoulder pads and all

  • fun to see this! thanx for posting.

  • i love this song! I have been looking for it for months!!! Andy is soooo hot!

  • bang a gong!

  • Holy Fucking Shit!! I remember this song. It's been about 15 years since I've seen this video. Looking back now, cool song, but the video looks like a Guess Jeans commercial.

  • I love this song! You are right toddpacker his Thunder album is great! I have been listening to it all week. I am glad I still have my copy.
