  • LOVE!

  • I decided to check out the John Williams' interpretation and I must say I like yours a lot more. You give such a superb haunting feel to it that amazes me every time I listen to this. You sir are a very talented musician.

  • I want to go back to Spain now. =(.

  • Still learning how to play!

  • Reminds me of my ex-gf

  • Ay, mi querida España...

  • totally enchanting playing , almost made me cry

  • very beautiful!

  • left hander eh? :~~

  • great playing

  • Really nice job. I listen to the Julian Bream Albeniz recordings often. If I hadn't been watching and only listening I could have mistaken you for him.

  • You Are WonderFull Man :)

Merci.

  • after listening to your music, i'm totally relaxed now!

    thank you!

  • beautiful. very romantic.

    Shame on you, Allen.

  • magical

  • Excellent playing. You under-rate yourself. I have a recording of Bream playing Granada and your playing is right up there with him on this piece.

  • nice

  • What is the name of the Musician? and is there a recorded version that can be downloaded? Wonderful rendition.

  • @plapense Thanks, you're very kind: this is me (tmjcbs, the uploader) playing (albeit many years ago). You could simply use one of the many youtube downloaders to download this. But surely there are many better versions: my favourite is Julian Bream, but Andres Segovia and John Williams recorded this as well.

  • @tmjcbs I like yours better!

  • @tmjcbs

i want you to play other stuff ;;;;;;post it ;online ;;;;how long ago .....

  • @tmjcbs Talented and humble. Keep posting, my friend. I'll keep watching.

  • @plapense

so who is the musician ?

  • what a magical song

Russia

Russia.

  • This piece makes me melt..

  • who else knows this song from Vicky, Christina Barcelona?

  • me gusta mucho esa melodia, me transmite paz, serenidad

  • I'm sorry but I'm not too fond of it, too fast, too robotical... still very good technique, but I think it would be a lot better if you'd slow down a little and put a little more emotion in your phrasing.

  • left handed guitarists makes me feel weird

  • aaahhhh! lefty! im not used to watching this way! hes good tho

  • Fantastic - I would give anything to be able to play that

  • when i want to relax me, i put on this video. Thanks.

  • ¡Viva España!.

  • I think it's great perfomance.

  • Superb performance of one of my favorite works for guitar. Thank you!!!

  • imagine who create this beauty.

  • Heaven on earth! If there is a god withing our perception, surely this is it!

  • this is really good its a little quite but it gives it a nice calming effect great song man

  • my God what a soothing tune

  • Years it has been and my guitar still buzzes from my lack of skill on this piece. I'll play this beautifully before I die!

  • Beautiful piece . You can ear our playing for guitar and recorder on youtube :

    Demarez Cassignol

  • beautiful piece. nicely played. cheers!

  • 5 stars !

  • Beautiful performance.

Basically my main goal in guitar is to be able to play this song half as well that, but my technique is nowhere near good enough yet.

Would you be able to suggest any songs to improve the technique needed to master this artwork?

  • @frythfrog123: Not necessarily songs, but I would practice triplets, trills and, most importantly, chord changes, these are the things that make this piece difficult, the right hand part is not hard at all IMO.

  • @tmjcbs right hand for left handed people or right handed??

  • @frythfrog123 I don't know what level you are on or if you read music or not but if you do you can go to your music store and ask for "Carulli" (The Complete Method by Carulli) and they should know what you are talking about. That was my first exercise book and it teaches really good technique. Also, for spanish guitar there is "Julio S. Sagreras, Guitar Lessons Books 1-3". That was also one of my first exercise books. I hope that helps!

  • you're very good! only i like this piece more played by harps

  • Woah! stopped me dead in my tracks. I'm a teacher and when I'm marking I often go on random hunts for music to listen to while I mark. Today's random hunt was "guitar, acoustic, spanish" and up this came. Breathtaking! Can't mark any more, have to go outside and just stare at nature and soak it in. Inspiring, thank you.

  • As I write this there are 24 people who dont like this - are they tone deaf? I would give almost anything to be able to play half as well as this. Beautiful!!!

  • this is a lovely piece on guitar, albeniz seems to always work so well for guitar. it does look like a hard piece to master thought, well played and thanks for the upload

  • Beautiful, entrancing, flawless playing. All the best

  • awwwwwww, beautiful..... i'm looking for the sheets

  • Wonderful piece. I just found an interest in classical guitar so I'm not very familiar with all the classics, but artists like yourself will keep me listening and learning!! Thank you; beautiful music makes the world a less ugly place.

  • c'est vraiment magnifique! Bravo a vous :)

  • como me relaja la guitarra española ^_^

  • Absolutely beautiful.. bravo.

  • That was perfect!

  • i love spanish guitar, i love spain, i love spanish... <3

  • Nice one!

  • bravissimo !Albeniz ;wrote this piece for piano, but in guitar is genial !

  • The best song for the most beautiful city all over the world :)

I can even see the Alhambra when I close my eyes ...

  • Bravo!! Nice colors and tone. Makes me feel far away.

  • great

  • Not a bad performance at all. This one goes to my favorites! I'm also a Bream fan..

  • that was soooo beautiful

  • i loved this music from the movie "Vicky Cristina Barcelona"! Has anyone seen it?

I have the CD by Manuel Barrueco.

  • kudos, very nice playing. this music is on soundtrack of woody allen's "vicky cristina barcelona". also check out manuel barrueco's recording on emi (albeniz- suite espanola).

  • nice playing! who's arrangement is this? I have only tarrega's version published by berben. This is very close to the arrangement John Williams plays and i much prefer it.

  • @christianos666

Thanks. This is an arrangement by Konrad Ragossnig, with some adjustments by me inspired by Bream's recording.

  • @tmjcbs

dank u wel - tears rolling down while I'm listenig ...

  • @tmjcbs

dank u wel - tears rolling down my cheeks while I'm listenig ...

  • thank you so much, beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Superb performance!

  • Many years ago I had a recording of Bream playing this piece and it was this that really attracted me to the classical guitar. The piece itself is magical and so was your playing.

    Thank you.

  • muy linda version y prolijamente interpretada.felicitaciones.

  • just breath taking :D I am in love with this song

  • BRAVO !

  • I think I'm falling in love with you. This transports me through space and time.

  • Flawless performance. You are incredibly talented. What guitar do you have?

  • Thanks, this is an Asturias guitar, model "John Mills"

  • This is a beatutul take on a great piece. Thanks.

  • Great piece performed very good! I just love it! <3

  • loved it.thank you.one of my favorite pieces.

  • Very skillfully played. This is the best I've heard after Bream.

  • !De acuerdo, totalmente hermoso! :p

  • Very good! And as your left handed (im not used to lefties) it looks very interesting, kind of strange, but this was such a beautiful piece 5*

  • Nicely done man nicely done and what a beautiful piece.

  • Beautiful, very nicely done. Albeniz wrote this for piano, then Francisco Tarrega arranged it for guitar. I have A good piano rendition saved in my favorites.

  • hey everybody, check out 3:22.. sounds like albeniz to me. reminds me of a phrase in asturias...

  • This is Albeniz too, i think u mean Asturias...

  • Is it too difficult to learn this beautiful song?? because i just learned Asturias so I would like someone to compare

  • I've played Asturias as well and I would say the difficulties of these pieces are in different areas of technique: in Asturias it's mainly playing the fast part neatly at full speed, in Granada speed is no problem, but the chord changes and the triplets.

  • @tmjcbs Agreed. The chord changes require a lot of experience. To my surprise, caprichio arabe is much easier than granada. I've been playing Granada for close to a year and it still sounds messy comapred to yours, tmjcbs. On the other hand, I've been playing caprichio arabe for less than a month and am close to par with my progress on granada!

  • @tmjcbs Hi. I had problems playing asturias because i'm not fast at acoustic guitar (i play electric guitar, but before you judge me, i play jazz). So, if i'm good in chords changes and triplets playing Granada won't be a problem to me?

  • fantastisch. u bent zeer begaafd.

  • simplemente hermoso....

  • Albeniz wrote for piano??

    i think so...

  • yes, but his music has become a huge part of classical guitar repertoire

  • Splendid performance!!5***** groetjes Bram, ook uit Holland!

  • many many stars....

  • WOAH LEFT HANDED?

  • Perfect, very good expression 5*

  • you are an excellent guitar player, i nearly cried ....

well i just about did actually

    felicitations

    mel from france

  • bravo, you played very well, just like him

    mel from france

  • You're too kind, Bream is my favourite guitar player.

  • Enhorabuena!!

  • Nice, I put this on my favs.

  • awesome!!

  • VIVA GRANADA!!!!!!!

  • TO IElanor: This piece is widely distributed:I expect even in tablature now!

It's originally a piano work-so u can transcribe if u are up to speed! But I play from Tarrega's transcription. it is available thru Heinrichshofen Edition (New York) N 4001. But any good guitar music stockist/dealer/agent will have it. I'm sure you can get it easily online - it is an incredibly popular piece. good luck & enjoy.

  • 2:53 can sum1 tell me off those are natural or artficial harmonics, and whats the diference between them??????

  • super!

  • where can I find the notes of this song?

  • i may send a pdf!

  • sorry, you have the tabs? can you send? sorry i'm spanish, i don't speak very well english, thank you

  • yes. i have a acrobat file of granada's notes.

if you give your (or a suitable) e-mail, i will send a mesage with notes attached.

  • As far as I could listen to all the other versions, this one stands out.

It goes straight to the heart, with no obstructing details.

  • tienes parientes moriscos en marruecos

  • I like this version, but you should hear Andrés Segovia's version of all the "Suite Española".

  • Who is this guitarist?

  • That's me, Theo Jacobs from the Netherlands.

  • what version is this/

  • Let me repeat a reply I made previously: this transcription is by Konrad Ragossnig, and I have changed it here and there to make in sound more like Bream's version on his 'Granados & Albeniz' album.

  • Best rendition of this piece I have ever heard.

  • beautiful piece!!!!!

  • wooow, very nice. I`m from granada^^

  • muy bien

  • great performance. you deserve 5 stars and more. i'm amazed.

  • Left-handed guitarrist rule !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Congratulations :)

  • WHY isnt this 5star rated it deserves so much better!

  • just amazing...

  • You must be retarded, as it is common knowledge that he is left-handed. And if it was viewed in a mirror, what he is playing would not sound anything like what is heard. Go learn to play an instrument before commenting on music videos.

  • ranthony, I'm an ARCT-level classical guitarist. I play this piece, and have spent a lot of time working on phrasing, technique and the like. So I'm constantly analyzing the playstyle of other guitarists when I watch them perform, and it's a bit more of a challenge to critique the technique of a lefthanded guitarist for obvious reasons - I wouldn't expect you to understand, but seriously, name calling?

  • Wonderful, the best interpretation I have heard on this piece.

  • thank you

  • My fingers hurt watching this.

  • A great performance of this wonderful Albeniz piece! It's interesting watching a lefthanded classical guitarist, I'm so used to seeing all the techniques done in the righthanded manner, it actually challenges my brain a bit to watch this.

  • very very good!!! :D congrats ^_____^

  • well done, musical poetry, very beatiful version

  • well played sir

  • Nice

  • muy buena realmente^^

  • Pretty much Julian Bream's version this one, which is in my opinion the very nicest one, notably the part that moves through E minor into C major. You are very good.

  • One of my favorite classical pieces! And this is very well done!

  • I really like the way you interpreted this. You're very close to mastering it technically too. 4.5/5 rounded up.

  • this guy has a beast technique.. to delicately play this on guitar.. i've played it on piano.. and i can play guitar.. but i'd stick to piano.. this guy makes it look very easy. i like some concepts i could use on the piano.. thanks alot for posting and great playing!

  • Just give up the teacher subject! This song just sounds great

  • Left handed rocks!

Im left handed guitarist as well!

  • so am i but what does that have to do with his playing lol

  • The Commentary from ~liorcohen5~ is relevant.

    ~"free2rock~

For an Artist this means that his -RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN- is the most active. Giving him even more of an Artistic Nature!

This is why this Classical Guitar Musician hits so perfectly the Notes!
