  • This is a really easy part as far as fingering goes except for my pinky that never does what its told and getting the speed right it really hard too. Been trying to learn for 7 years and I still struggle with my pinky finger :'(

  • What is the tempo of this song? A metronome might help me keep beat, but i need the tempo.

  • @josh18230 I dont know exactly, but thats something you can play around with trial and error

  • I used to play it the other way (I down stroked it on the first two notes) Thanks a lot for the idea

  • i have the same exact guitar except mine doesn't play like yours does :(

  • @Mpiendak Amps make a huge difference ;) look into it

  • what are the chords for the chorus?

    especially the last chord?

  • damn i wanted to know the finger position :S

  • @hjalmarBuoi you can get those anywhere pal

  • @geraci89 yeash :s its just some use their middle finder and ringfinger, but i found easier to use pinky, but yeah the alternative picking was hard though, but i guess whe nyou learn it it willl become better

  • why do you need to up pick on the second note???

  • @qweer27 you dont HAVE to. Its just efficient and good habit

  • Canadian much? Hahah, great cover man. Very discouraging I must say, I've just picked up my guitar after a very long time again and I just feel like getting to where you are seems impossible. That speed, it's just..sigh. I've been practicing but I see no progress.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! i couldn't get the speed right because i didn't know the picking pattern, at least now i can practice the right thing!

  • What is you AMP?

  • i like the sound........very nice

  • MUY BUENO!

  • Now I can finally play it, you are great! :D

  • This riff is just frustrating ... Was practising it for about one or two weeks, started at 60 bpm, worked my way up to 75 slowly and everything was perfect, but two days ago I had a bad day and fucked up a few times and since then it gets worse and worse, now I can't even pick it at all, seems like I have to start from the beginning. I'm only playing for about 1 year but I was doing fine on this riff, that's why it confuses me why all of the sudden I play worse than when I've started with it.

  • @S0uLPiece after you relearn it you will be able to play it even better, trust me

  • @Fiarzen thanks man, just dropped the speed a bit again and realized that I didn't do the Hammer-on/Pull-off part properly, I always rushed that part and it always was way too fast. Now it seems to work.

  • I have the fingering down perfect and the motion of the picking, but I keep accidentaly hitting more than one string D: any help? (btw, awesome tutorial)

  • down up down up down down up, is that correct ?

  • @intsfanatic correct, but to make it clearer look at it like this :down up down up down (up) down up

  • i think i'm in love

  • and i was finger picking...

  • MAN I love the sound what sound and tune do you use in this video thanks for answering

  • Nice dude and thx :)

P.S. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can anyone make lesson of United Rule manchester PLEASE :))

  • the best fucking tip ever play alternate picking omfg t works 100%

  • youre one of my idol when it comes in covering red hot.. thanks for your vids

  • ABSOLUTE FUKKING BEAST

  • and what is after that because i cannot find any good tabs

  • tell me about the sound effects you use (i mean tone on your guitar what amp you use and if you can the strings you prefer for this song) thnx!!

  • wow you are amazing. thank you very much.

  • Great Job..Thank You my friend

  • Thanks!!

  • I suck at alternate picking):

    Blah... Back to practicing.

  • I'll say it one more time: you're fuckin' great guitarist. Thanks for the lesson!

  • darling, i hate you so much.(in the envy sort of way 3:)

  • great sound!!

  • thank you very much ;D

  • @Schnullimator Youre very welcome!!

  • Excellent tutorial. I've always hated the fact that I can't play this as it sounds on the record, getting closer now thanks to you dude. Keep it up!

  • @samwisetipitown Thanks a lot. Glad you understand it's purpose! Have fun with it!

  • Soo,,, how do yu play the song? No notes?

  • @WoooahhhATreFlip at 2:10 I make clear how I taught this. If you know the notes, you're ready for this lesson, if not, I told you exactly where to find them. It's usually good to pay attention

  • @geraci89 so what was the point of the video then? i mean its a little false to call this a lesson tutorial. i mean all you did was play it slower. but windows media player can do the same thing.

you know the phrase, "people who cant do, teach."? well, i suggest you stick to doing, bc you cant teach.

but, very nice playing i guess?

    but overall, pointless video.

and noffense. youre a very good guitarist.

  • @2891john2891 Sorry bud, you obviously got it all backwards. the pointless part of the video would be me wasting time showing the notes of the song. You can get those anywhere. The problem I see is that people don't have the right picking and are hacking up their efforts by using wrong technique. THATS the point of this tutorial.

Dont start throwing criticisms if you dont know what you're talking about

  • @geraci89 i see what youre saying. i just felt there was a little false advertising in the vid, as did a lot of people. but yeah, technique is important, so in that aspect, it was a good vid.

    so touche

  • Aha that, my friend, was pure and utter class! That was just unbelievably good...!!!

  • how can you pick so fast?

  • thanks for the lesson

  • @maskedninjacookie youre welcome. hope it helps!

  • It was only after watching the first 40 seconds that i realised how much of an amateur I am o.O

    YOU'RE AMAZING

  • Thansk for your amazing lesson it's very very good i can play this song now . You are a awesome guitarist and very good teacher thanks a lot

  • 'till my fingers bleed !! Chargeeee :D

  • Man, that is some mad accurate alternate picking.

  • Hey would you mind posting the tabs you used? Yay i have the same guitar as you but in cherry red XD

  • been wathing your vids since you posted that first ever snow cover. ive been having troubles playing snow but this simple video really cleared everything up for me and now i can play it smoothly. THANKS

  • @Pustify I have been playing guitar just under a year and i haven't had any guitar lesson yet i can still play this :) I think it is better not to have any lessons because it gives you more determination to do it and do it well.

  • @AdamArmstrong100 But lessons help you with coming up with your own stuff and understanding the how songs were made and stuff.

  • Hey Bro, could you please tell me what chords you played during the bridge and the chorus?

  • I have never had a YouTube account before. I literally made this account to tell you that this is the BEST cover i have seen on YouTube. Bravo!

  • some finally explains a good right hand technique thank you. i misslead to believe is was basically sweeped the whole time, but this way is much more efficciantt

  • Finally!!!! Somebody who talks about the right hand picking on this riff!!! You could concentrate on the left hand for a hundred yrs and never get it right without a perfect picking pattern. I didn`t watch the whole video. I just couldn´t believe how many people want to teach this riff but they don´t know hot to play it right themselves. If any one wants to learn, this guy can probably help you.

  • @Pustify I took lessons for about 7 years. I highly recommend you do the same, at least for a couple years. It's better to have someone guiding you. But make sure theyre teaching you things that are key to getting good.

  • are you Canadian?

  • dude, you are better than most people will ever get

  • @romain297 Think of it this way, the less you are directed and the more you work out on your own will work out best for developing your skill

  • @geraci89 the last chord after the second 764 is it 644 or 654

  • are u canadian?

  • hey man great tutorial and much appreciated! just wondering if you have your right hand anchored on the bridge to play this?

  • the guitar in the cover video was with a duble pickup .

how many fender guitar do you have???

  • @cccvvvbb6 its the same guitar. I switched the pickups

  • dude you play awesome, can you make us a tab including chords please! =D thanks

  • In the son its really fast !!!

  • Try to sit and hold the guitar like he does. Belve me its much more eazyer!

  • WHAT IS IT MEAN "LOL"??????

  • Hey can you tell me what chords you play for the bridge and chorus part? Thanks in advance.

  • thanks alot man, because of ur video i actually know how to play this know lol!!! :D

  • i understand the riff, can you tell me the other tabs to the bridge and chorus? you didnt mention them in the vid. i'd like to know those chords.

  • Hahaha. "thats what she said" to everything from 2:24-2:35 :D Great job btw

  • @villesgirl123 I dont use my pinky when I play this song, long fingers, dont need pinky!

  • Thats a very bad practice. no matter how long your fingers are, better to use 1 finger per fret sorta logic. builds up strength and convienience

  • @geraci89 okay, I'll keep that in mind, thank you! My pinky need some practicing. I will use my pinky 0/7/6/4/0/0 and 7/6/4/0/0/0, then I can successfully slide from 5 to 9 on A-string, couldn't do that when I didn't use my pinky. :P

  • what string tension do you use on your strat ?

    10-46 ?

  • great video awsome you tutorial is excelent can you tell me what chords are in the prechorus and the chorus please ? thanks

  • 100 bpm

  • btw you also play the bass notes I think,

    at least I heard them

  • does anyone know the bpm

(beats per minutes) for the guitar part?

I want to practice with a metronome with the right bpm....

    thanks

  • just practice with the song!

  • @seatbeltavenger 106 bpm :>

  • hey i actually learned something:P

  • Thanks for that bro! That skip in the alt pick was screwing me up. I'm glad to see that your sticking with the guitar. I remember seeing your original snow cover years ago (and other rhcp covers) and I was very impressed. I was just trying to remember some of the songs I've learned over the years and thought of you. I see you've collected some more gear. I love the sunburst tele & the tele twang. I've got a sunburst mexi fat strat & next guitar will probably be tele. Peace & keep at it!

  • thank u so much.

i think with a lot of practise i will play like with 6 fingers. tomorrow i'll get an e-guitar and now i already practise on acoustic guitar.

sorry for my english, i'm from austria.

  • Jesuus !

    Excelenteeeee!

  • you play it better than the band does on some live videos here on youtube!I wish some day I will play just like you. 5 stars, and best wishes!

  • I have Played guitar for 37 yrs. and your the first person who has ever blew me away! I wished you lived in the U.K.!

  • What band are you in? You better be in a band.

  • You are the best:D

  • PLEASE, married me!!:)

  • what are the chords for the other parts of the song. i cant find em anywhere

  • i know, or the chords are pretty much impossible to do unless u have 6 fingers lol, the ultimate guitar tab of this was crazy on the chords and i couldnt figure out how i could position my hand to do some of the chords.

  • @Eventide91 They use barring...

  • @S4M10L4 on what? its been so long since ive seen this i cant remember

  • @S4M10L4 some of those chords i tried using barring and i was like wtf? i cant even to it barring it, and i do some crazy bar chords, but if u know an easier way, please let me know

  • @Eventide91 actually, they are as follows: G# minor, Emaj,Bmaj,F#maj.

  • @spiffication aight thx man

  • 2001/2002. not sure 100%

    five stars!

  • dang ive almoost have been playing guitar for a year and im already getting the hang of it good video

  • takes time guys! took me a year to fully get good at alternating picking (cuz i just started) aand the song is still super fast!! thanks for the help tho and im gettin it WOOOOOP

  • What type of distortion do you use for the 3/4 of the begging of the song and the parts after that

Cause u make it sound good what do you use?

  • I wasn't using any distortion lol. but when i do, lately its been my amp distortion

  • What an excellent tutorial lesson, very nice !

  • thanks! glad you like it!

  • hey does john play it this way man?? just curious which is the best way cuz i see that other people do it differently, my buddy goes down down then alternates from there...just wondering how we know the best way?

  • this is the best way. and im 99% sure john does it this way too

  • sick thanks again bro

  • hey thank you so much bro! now i can practice it properly ! much appreciation from canada.

  • Gorgeous strat! Also, thanks for this. You're very good and to the point :o) you should be paid for this.

  • well whatever gets the job done i guess. I would use it though, you have it, might as well use it to its abilities. its always the weakest finger to develop, I had to go through it too lol

  • Hi, it helped me lot, do you play more rhcp songs?

I hope more vids and tuto from this band !

  • Haha thank you for this vid Teacher! ;)

  • what about the bridge?

  • what effects do you use?? delay??

  • lol no effects

  • just a bit of reverb though..

  • thanks for the lesson, can you make a lesson for the can't stop riff? It's sometimes hard for me to mute all the strings

  • do you use your pinky finger? I don't use my pinky that often when playing guitar which i know is a really bad habit. besides that, great lesson!

  • i sure do use my pinky. you have to for this song.

  • same here cheers man!

  • Thank you! You helped me big time. Been struggling with this song for a long time and now I pretty much nail it. Keep up the good work, perhaps another rhcp lesson? :)

  • make more covers or bands covers lol

  • that i will!

  • cheers man, i nailed in 5 minutes after watchin this. really good lesson

  • Oh, and this really helped immediately :)

  • thanks! glad it did!

  • no more humbucker?

What new pickup do you have in there? Another antiquity?

Anyways, thanks for actually giving us tips on how to play it instead of just showing the notes. Too many people overlook that kinda stuff. I've never tried to learn this song, but I guess I will now haha

  • humbuckers been gone for a while actually. I put the antiquities in all at once. This was actually the first time I really got to hear the tone difference. Loving this guitar now lol.

  • I guess I never noticed because in all your recent videos you've been far away from the camera

but you were on the neck pickup for this whole song right?

  • yeah that was actually something i meant to mention but forgot. neck pickup DEFINITELY makes this tone.

  • you are awesome

  • good lesson

  • It's amazing how much you've changed over the years. Your playing is improving, well... for the most part from what we can tell. Cant wait to see more vids from you, perhaps a dani cali solo tutorial? :D oh, and nice Pj's :P

  • nice dude thanks! new amp? Last time i saw a video from you it was using the fender frontman i think, anyways sounds good mang
