Most of the Commandments make no sense. Do we really want laws mandating church attendence? Do we want to make saying "God damn!" a crime? The Ten Commandments are not a reliable source of moral values.

The Bible is very clear that God Commands that disobedient children must be put to death. It says thou shall not kill, but then relates how God commanded Moses to go into the neigboring kingdom and kill everthing that breaths.

@kiwichristian2009 I am not sure if the Bible says you accually have to go to church, but it says in the 10 commandments that you have to observe the Sabbath and keep it holy, and in some other part (don't know exactly which) it says that collecting sticks on the Sabbath is breaking god's commandment, with the punishment of death.

If this was really commanded by god why doesn't it include a ban on slavery, or a ban on abusing your spouse or your children, or a ban on conquest, or a command to feed the starving, or to protect the environment. This shows the Jews leaving Egypt with their armies. I have never heard of slaves having armies. Who in their right mind would train and arm the people that they are keeping captive? It's funny how Moses comes down from the mountain with his 10 commandments--one of which is 'do not kill'--and orders his most faithful followers to go from tent to tent and kill their own brothers and sisters and wives and children that are not in agreement with him. My religious uncles and aunts didn't believe it until I read them the passage. The bible is the biggest joke ever selectively assembled by people in power.

And you say there is some time limit on slavery, but in the bible passage I posted it says that slaves are a permanent inheritance. I think that this is strong evidence that the bible was not written by any supernatural being but by a bunch of old men some of whom wanted to justify their own slave ownership.

@LMAOUTURD I don't believe in superstitious nonsense, although I would like to learn more about the Qur'an so I could point out exactly what I don't agree with. But the big problem is not if the Qur'an is right or wrong, the big problem is that if I went to an Islamic Republic and started saying in public that I did not believe in it people would try to silence me and even kill me. Are the ideas there so fragile that you need to silence people who challenge them?

@LMAOUTURD My friend. There are many contradictions in the koran. Six or eight days of creation? Sura 7:54, 10:3, 11:7, and 25:59 clearly state that God created "the heavens and the earth" in six days. But in 41:9-12 the detailed description of the creation procedure adds up to eight days.

@LMAOUTURD Will Allah reward the good deeds of Unbelievers? S. 9:17 and 9:69 clearly say no. However, S. 99:7 implies yes. Moreover, S. 2:62 promises Christians reward for their good deeds. But S. 9:28-33; 5:17, 72-73 calls Christians idolaters, and S. 9:17 is very clear that idolaters will have no reward.

@LMAOUTURD How many angels were talking to Mary? When the Qur'an speaks about the announciation of the birth of Jesus to the virgin Mary, Sura 3:42,45 speaks about (several) angels while it is only one in Sura 19:17-21. See, MANY lies and contradictions in the koran.

@LMAOUTURD The ancient Arabians worshipped the Moon God who married the Sun Goddess and they produced three goddesses, Al-lat, Al-luzza and Manat. The three daughters of the Moon God came to be worshipped as - the daughters of Allah, because that was the name of the Moon God. Sura 23:91 proclaims "Say not that Allah Begot a Son". John3:16 says that God begot a son. Allah and God are not the same.

From this comes the idea that the religious leaders who claim to represent Muhammad have absolute authority. But wait, is it the Shi'ite or the Sunni leaders who should be followed? This sectarianism leads to people thinking that their sect is the only one that truely represents God. What is never ever allowed is asking "Does god really exist?"

Supposedly God himself authored the Ten Commandments . But their are glaring ommisions that evolved secular morality realises SHOULD have been included . Comandment #11 Men and women should be treated as equals . #12 Races should be treated as equals . #13 Thou shall not rape . #14 Thou shall not have slaves. #15 Children should not be overworked or abused or married .Think of all the suffering that could have been avoided with a few extra comandments .

@flyingscience I think that any close examination of the bible shows that it is not the word of any god, but was written by men who wanted to justify horrible immoral acts by saying that god OK'd it. There are some good parts, but any moral person must reject the bad parts.

@mojamela23jeta Some commentators say the first commandment is not a commandment but is an axiom. If you don't believe there is a Gd, then you cannot be spoken to. You must accept the first before any other commandments can be accepted by you.
2nd: Gd has not physical shape or "image" whether it is in the heavens or on earth. example of this is no idols. This is where jews and christians diverge b/c christians say jesus is gd but Jews cannot accept him b/c Gd has no "image"

My daughter Melissa was given 1 hr to live at Columbia Presbyterian Hosp Bx NY. Both her lungs were destroyed her lungs couldn't stop bleeding. Drs said that not even a lung transplant would save her. Most of the Commandments make no sense. Do we really want laws mandating church attendence? Do we want to make saying "God damn!" a crime? The Ten Commandments are not a reliable source of moral values.

@Terrra91 It may provide optimism but if the Bible is taken as the literal truth then it leads to horrible acts violence. The Bible is very clear that God Commands that disobedient children must be put to death. It says thou shall not kill, but then relates how God commanded Moses to go into the neigboring kingdom and kill everthing that breaths.

@kiwichristian2009 I am not sure if the Bible says you accually have to go to church, but it says in the 10 commandments that you have to observe the Sabbath and keep it holy, and in some other part (don't know exactly which) it says that collecting sticks on the Sabbath is breaking god's commandment, with the punishment of death.

And we can look to the Islamic Republics to see what would happen if real Christian nut cases ever came to power in the U.S.

If this was really commanded by god why doesn't it include a ban on slavery, or a ban on abusing your spouse or your children, or a ban on conquest, or a command to feed the starving, or to protect the environment. It is so easy to come up with better commandments, we can see that they were written by men living in a primitive society, not by any god.
