  • the twits need to stay up on their general platform

  • dont they know about the Testudo

  • @shiyboy4 Roman troops didn't have the Testudo until (I think) Gaius Marius' reforms, which I'm not sure if that had happened at the time this battle was fought, it was around this time though.

But even after those reforms, I'm not sure if the Hastii even get the Testudo, or if it's only the better-trained more professional troops, at least in terms of the game.

  • @SaintLouisX Roman troops trained the ability to form a testudo some time after the marian reformation of the army. This battle took place "way later" than marius' time. These troops would be imperial legions, a little different than marian(note the armor). Also, hastati never formed testudo, they were gone by that time. Your first statement is correct, just clarifying the topic ;-)

  • They're not inept, but they're sloppy. Basic competence but no finesse. Not bad at all. I would have attacked separately with the catapults at one section and the towers at another, perhaps the gate.

In real life, Trajan did siege the town. Less causalities, but King Decebalus did escape momentarily.

  • @Tareltonlives Escaped momentarily?

  • @toweronepower He got out the city, but was murdered in a week.

  • @toweronepower he escaped with a little of his bodyguard but suicided so he didn't have the humiliation of beign held capture by romans.

  • "Oh, Barbeque"

  • Pulling my hair out as they hit wall with fire ammo

  • The roman emperor had much more of war experience, than experts sayd: Traian was the general of notrhern legions and participated battles against german barbarians. He knew that he has to do / sorry for my english /

  • If the team would have set their legionaires in testudo formation they could have assaulted the walls without being destroyed by those arrows.

  • They got off to a great start, but the ploy with the siege tower was a COMPLETE misstep. First they intended to sacrifice it as a distraction to protect the legions- except it made it to the wall intact. Then the siege weapons smashed the wall just before they could assault it, but they didn't reposition it. Then they charge the legion into the breach and they got shot anyway. Finally, they destroyed their own siege tower. Bad move.

  • did you see tht retarded roman at 06:48 he was stuck on the seige tower lol

  • The falx may be terrifying but it takes both arms to wield it thereby exposing the attacker to a thrust from a Roman gladius.

  • but the cataput as one weeknes and that is rain

  • lol

how the hell did they win?

Some battles on this show cannot be lost apparently

  • u cant pause war

  • those Dacian Falxmen have cool weapons!

  • The falx was so terrifying the Romans had to reinforce their helmets in the Dacian invasion.

  • Thracian as well

  • "looks like they've just abandoned their seige tower. Looks that way.

    -boulder smashes tower-

"And they've destroyed the siege tower with their own artilery"

  • they should have put the legions in testudo

  • yeah you have to spread the defenders out with crappy skirmish troops holding ladders - either the enemy must station troops to guard those sections meaning they have fewer men to repulse the heavy infantry at the breach or they leave those setions unguarded and they have to deal with fast skirmish troops running around inside the town.

  • I'd put the siege towers in a different position to completely misdirect the Dacians,, and just try to rip the wall apart, but the team is really doing well.
