hello I need to know what format I have to put it into premier pro cs5 enHA1080/60 videotaped a click with the Panasonic 150i please send me the email comment to hdvideojruiz@hotmail.com
@TheWisdomSpeakers It was lartrak who made the comment, so you'll need to go to his section to ask him "Why?", but most like to transcode because they like to edit in a CODEC that's designed for editing. This speeds things up and when doing multi-layering can be a lot easier to work with. The "loss" in quality is next to nothing when transcoding to an editing CODEC.
when you were switching the gain from 6dB and 12dB the dB means how much pressure waves which means the gain you were setting was for the audio not picture
question mate - will this work ok on a mac? Transfer the files no probs - or will it have unreadable files like I keep hearing? Looks pretty good though...all i want is a tapeless pd-150 LOL. Thanks for the review
It's an option built into Final Cut. It does of course take time, but it should still be faster than real time. I believe you use the "capture" option to do it.
I don't actually use Final Cut though (I use Vegas Pro and transcode to CineForm), it's just something I've seen others talking about on forums.
useful thanks. is this the only semi-pro to offer more than 24mps?
as far as i can tell, the cheaper ahouldermount version is only averaging 14mps.
Thanks.
PS: any recommenations for a 'tapless' Z1 type cam would be appreciated, but from my expereince, you need more than 15mps to make AVCHD compare to a minidv. Thanks again.
If the EX1 or EX3 isn't for you, try the Sony Z7U. It can do both miniDV tapes and High Speed CF cards. You can even do both at the same time if needed.
With video we like to have a standard to check if everything is adjusted correctly. The color bars provide a standard reference to the color and brightness levels.
Given the state of the US economy I wonder how this camera will do at it's price point. A couple years ago I would say it would be a killer. But it's not really a pro camera and there are cheaper options for the indie/no budget filmmakers. Oh well, excited to see how it performs and start seeing some reports. Thanks for the video.
I have been wondering if it has the EVF detail option... it's useful when shooting with my Redrock on the HVX200... :) What about a flip funtion for the EVF??? Extremely excited for the release of this camera!!! Thanks for the vid!
The flip function is unknown at this time. (We'll know in October 2008 when it comes out.) There are 4 different ways to tell if it's in focus: (1) A Bar Grows if sharper. (2) Center area zoom, 2x (2) Color appears when there's a sharp edge. (4) I forgot the forth item... sorry.
I'm adding a link to my web page with additional photos and in the archive to my Podcasts, you'll find additional information.
Rough English = Ke 6 resumed to you, is not understood hauls. It is all in motion. From the back of the display and the paraluce it seems more a DVX100...
I wish I could have done a better video, but it was not easy to shoot. The HMC-150 replaces the DVX100. Bob Diaz

Great job! Thanks!
I use Vegas Pro as well with my 150. You mention that you transcode to Cineform.
Why is that?

@chilidog1001 No, the gain switch was for video, not audio. The controls to the back of the camera control audio gain.

i've been looking for an affordable ($800-$1,500) camera to film some skateboarding. if you have any refrences please let me know.
TheMrThrasher 2 years ago
Check out the Panasonic HMC40 its 2000.00 and a small HD camera so its easier for shoots for skateboarding.

Sony HDR-XR500 is in that range and may be the best thing in that price range actually.
Get a GoPro helmet cam with whatever you get and get some first person action shots too.
You will still be under 1500 with both and may even be able to get a tripod too.

AVCHD is not natively supported in FCP, but you can transcode it to ProRes.
lartrak 3 years ago
Hey thanks, I heard somewhere that it should work now with I movie - I guess from there you can shoot it to FCP???
vanzetti7 3 years ago
@lartrak how do you transcode to ProRes, does it take time?

wow, built in waveform and the bars aren't buried in a sub menu. nice.

Hello, can you please tell me what the purpose is for the bars feature? Thanks! :]

With video we like to have a standard to check if everything is adjusted correctly. The color bars provide a standard reference to the color and brightness levels.
Very important when editing.
