In order to extract the file from the winrar file, u must download winrar which is free, and then after u install it, right click the firmware file's rar file. and click on "extract here"

if you want to get the actual file (which isnt rar) you have to use firefox when downloading it...

In the winrar file that i downloaded, theres only one file thats readable and its called "restore" and i dont think its a ipsw file as it says that the type of file is a "Quicktime preferences" file, so in the "shift-restore" window, there isnt a file for me to select to do upgrade....wheres the ipsw file or which one is it? Please Help

yes it does, the 2nd generation ipod has a slightly different firmware.

yea if u fit the requirements and stuff.. then u do the shift held while clcking restore thing and then find the file and itll do its thing. after that is shud say it is done restoring and itll restart in 15 seconds. So it restarts and goes to a screen wher eit says to make a "new" ipod or a backup of ur old profile, if u wanna keep ur songs and contacts from before make it a backup. then itl readd everything and ull be back to normal but with the 2.2 firmware.

right after the step where it says ''Your iPod has been restored to factory settings, and it is restarting." and u have to wait 15 seconds, well it comes up with a screen where u can choose to make it an new ipod or make it a backup of ur old account. If u choose the backup itll make it exactly like ur ipod before. if uve skipped this step u can always do the same restore thing and click on the backup the next time.

ok well, to switch the language go to the settings icon, and then the general settings which is the one with the gears in its icon. Then click on the button second from the bottom. that will be "international" and u can set ur language in the box.
