hmm I had a 40 series on my bronco and it sounded so sick!!! like awesome. but then I just had to cheap out and get a normal "turbo" no name muffler and it sounds quieter (like the 70 series) but seems to perform better like I have more low end and pick up speed. haha
and then I just saw this video and the 70 looks to be winding out more and sounds more racey. but the 40 still sounds loud and low! but still seems to dog the engine like in my bronco.
i just install in my 4.7 the 70 series , i feel more power now.. sounds good , is not to loud. i put the 70 because i have 2 kids . if i travel far it wont bother their ears.. i recomend it...
You mentioned that you have a superchips and I was wondering what tuner setting you keep it on. I just got one and am still experimenting with the different settings and not sure which one provides the best results yet. Thanks
the "Performance" setting is the best, but you have to run 91 Octane to get the full results. For daily driving I use the 87 Performance setting, and when I towed a trailer from Alabama to Alaska I used the "Towing Performance" setting and had good results. Personally, gas is currently too high and the gains are not enough to justify running 91 octane.
nice exhaust man. I'm thinking about gettin' a new exhaust for my jeep myself but I've replaced a couple old parts with new parts for it. it's preaty good for a 2000 model.
luv sound of this exhaust in the uk we have a liking for custom made twin pipes but nothing sounds as good as a v8 on tickover 10/10 good bless mopar muscle
check my video out of my z71 with a 4.3 non vortec with a glasspack sounds decent i think the blazer with the vortec sounds more high pitched like a rice burner with a glasspack for some reason lol so im guessing it will do the same with a flowmaster but who knows lol
A high flow cat has less restriction on the exhaust flow. More air moving through the cat subsequently allows more air to move through the muffler which provides for better sound and better performance. A restricted exhaust system hinders performance and may cause the muffler to sound weak.
Thanks for the vid! I am trying to figure out which Flowmaster to get for my jeep cherokee, and the vid is perfect! Interior and exterior noice levels.
I hope you're kidding, but if not: the lack of a tailpipe is probably the reason for your headache. Tailpipes prevent poisonous carbon monoxide gas from traveling up into the cabin of the vehicle.
If you have restrictive pipes or a restrictive cat, not enough exhaust gases will get to the muffler, causing it to sound weak. Take your vehicle to a professional muffler shop and they can weld in a tail pipe as well as secure your muffler properly to eliminate the rattle/vibration of your super 40.
hey i got the super 40 on it but it vibrates and gives you this wierd headache with the windows rolled down. thinking about putting in a resonator. is that a good idea or will it kill too much sound?
I don't believe flexible tubing would hold up as long or as well as the mandrel pipe. In addition, the mandrel pipe allows the exhaust gases to flow freely out of the vehicle without any restrictions whatsoever. Very few people know how to weld and have the equipment to do so - for $40 total, a national muffler shop installed my cat, muffler, and swapped out all the exhaust pipe to a 3", and that included the price of parts.
Tailpipe is a mandrel bent pipe designed specifically for the grand cherokee, by the WJ performance master, Nick "Kolak". For an indepth review of this exhaust by 4x4wire, google "Kolak exhaust for the WJ".
I have the 4.0 and am looking for something...I have had a Dynomax UltraFlo welded, Flowmaster 40 series delta flow, and Hooker Aerochamber at some point on one vehicle or another. The 40 delta flow on my 5.2 in my Ram was very very loud coupled with the Gibson headers...loud even before that
This is the 4.7L V8. To the right of the video is a general description. Click the "more" button at the end of brief description to find out more information regarding the jeep and the intake/exhaust setup.
Personally, I enjoy the Super 40 over the FM 70. It is more aggressive and not near as mellow as the FM 70. I want to enjoy the sound of my jeep and turn heads at the same time - the Super 40 does a better job.
i wish you would have done the 40 and the 10

yeah. It's got great sound....not much drone when you are going down the road. But definitely a much bigger improvement over stock!

the 40 sounds alot more aggressive

thats a beautiful sound. I'm loving that 70, a great deep rumble, the 40 sounds just a good, perhaps liuder and less of a real rumble at idle.

Does the 70 still have a rumble?

i like the 70 more, however 40 sound pretty good

hey, what kind of differnece is it with a high flow cat versus a stock cat? with a super 40 on it for both stock and after high flow.

A high flow cat has less restriction on the exhaust flow. More air moving through the cat subsequently allows more air to move through the muffler which provides for better sound and better performance. A restricted exhaust system hinders performance and may cause the muffler to sound weak.
