@thegreatcb7 well just because a domestic V8 doesnt rev into the 8-9K doesnt mean it is lazy, it is just the nature of a V8. V8's have more rotating mass and of course a factory V8 is not intended to turn 9K, thats because it dosn't need too. With the right components let's say a 351 windsor can turn 9-10K and thats with conventional push-rod technology. even a Nissan (JDM) V8 make peak power at only 6K so why fuss about a Chevy. I just build a 383 sbc making 400ftlbs at 3000rpm and that's Bad??

You cant compare windsor to standard Nissan production engine. Yes, they produce peak power 6-6500 rpm, but tuned can go 9000rpm easily like 1UZ-FE Toyota's engines. Throttle respond is lazy compared to other engines. American engines produce lot's of torque, so no needed high revs. Some smaller V8 engine need higher rev range to produce same power like F1 or IRL.

@k9forkids Its because of the fact that most domestic v8's uses the pushrods which creates more drag on the camshafts and thus limits the rpm, but they can produce alot of torque at low rpms. Personally, I prefer OHC. You can get more power with it than the pushrods, less drag and more valves per cyl.
