i dont understand why people pay 8000 dollors or 9000 dolors on racin bikes?? i mean with that money i could by a high performance v8 engine or a automibile with that money....
Madone for sure!! i found the SL3 to be too heavy in the mountians for long climbing!!! the trek is about 600gms lighter and much better on the descents!! it loves cornering!!! FAST!!!
i love gear. and i love cycling. so naturally i love high tech bikes and i love adjusting them and ride them. but we all have to admit: its the legs that matter. a friend of mine is a great cyclist and he can kick my ass any day on his old trek bike ^^
i am the proud owner of a 2010 6.9 Madone and a Sworks SL3 in the Saxo Bnak colours!!! The trek is hands down the best bike i have ever ridden!! and ive ridden some beauties!!! Prince, Colnago etc!!!!
i want a guru! those things are the only low-profile carbon frames i can think of. by the way, i have an older model madone 5.2, and it's magnificent. A lot of people dislike Trek because of how mainstream it is and its associations with Armstrong, but Trek makes really good bikes.
wow, when I gather the income a new madone will be one of my main goals to buy after my car (Corvette). That bike must be the most amazing thing on the planet.
Complete redesign. Lighter frame and a netmolded bearing in the fork.
It's just slightly lighter like 5% stiffer laterally. But nothing much. Integrated speed and cadence sensor is just another luxury you really dont need.
If they are better? lol obviously the best bikes out there. Lets just say trek company gets a lil more income a year than other companies out there :P
BUT at pro tour level, none of that matters, the bikes are 98% similar, all that matters are the riders and good supportive help from the cars.
@mrdysgo you are right in 50%...Machine (bike) is the other 50% of the ecuation to be a greater cyclist...no matter how good you are, you need great components to maximize your performance

@mrdysgo Rider is the engine; bike is the chassis. Both components are important, and neither's performance can be maximized if the other component is sub-par.
@smphares trek still makes higher end bikes and components in Wisconsin. No large-scale bicycle-manufacturer makes all of its bikes domestically. Even cannondale makes its lower-end bikes in Asia. I agree with you, yes, that this is a bad practice that hurts our economy, but you can't specifically call trek out for it.
It's not about the performance enhancing drugs - well not until they catch you anyway.

contreras81 2 years ago
@contreras81 go with the Pinerello FP7!
HybridSprinter08 2 years ago
my uncle got a pinarello prince white/red/black with campagnolo record group really nice bike
what's about bianchi or wilier triestina?
trek bikes aren't but i'm just too italian to buy one, I percieve them as prosaic bikes if that makes any sense
contreras81 2 years ago
The new frame are only for 6 series
The 5 series frames are still the same as 2009
FYI there is no special frame for 6 series WSD - only special colors
The 4.5 has not changed but still takes the fork of a 2009 5/6 series bike.

Exactly. No bike out there can make a great cyclist. The rider is the most important "machine".

Which bike do you ride?
With so much choice I don't know what to get!!

@mrdysgo yeah, very true. but i think i would feel a great difference if i changed my 10 year old cannondale to this madone xD

Is the 6 series still made in the US ?
snifnscratch 2 years ago
All the Madone models are made in the US.
dahgutone 2 years ago
I beg to differ. My 4.5 was made in friggin Taiwan! Only the higher end Madones are made in the states. I was pissed!

LOL TCT carbon @ 2k. Of course it's going to be made in a asian based country. Pretty much any carbon frame below 3k is made in asia.
dahgutone 2 years ago
@smphares i have 5200 from 1995 back then it was still made in usa.
dodoslovensko 2 years ago
if you did research before you purchased you would have known that...
taylorstrawbridge 2 years ago
i did know that. its the point that even trek outsources their work, and that is whats wrong with this country.

@iwuvpanda Giant makes every single one of their bikes domestically
neodarkain 1 year ago
@neodarkain That's why my Giant says 'Made in Taiwan'. But I guess if you live in Taiwan, then yes they would all be made domestically.
