@DirectorTurnerable i know superlatives are opinions, but i have to ask how much range were in those peformances you mentioned, its all cut from the same cloth. Hanks always plays under the guise of "I'm an ordinary guy in an unfortunate dilemma, please feel sorry for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Hanks fan, and would gladly rank he improbably the top 25 but as for range, he never leaves his comfort zone, which he has perfected.

Forest gump albeit it emotional and entertaining is over acted, unrealistic and only really appeals of surface level unlike bang the drum slowly. Although at the end when gump talks to jennys grave stone i cant help but feel something! you have to imhumane not to !

Great scene but it's a shame that people only think to this one when talking about De Niro. He made great films apart from Taxi Driver. Try "King of comedy", one of his best and most underrated roles.
