I've made bows out of cloth before, and it was really aggravating. The edges of the fabric would shred and fray.

@broccolivirgin I like to use a cigarette lighter and skim the ends of my fabrics (only for man-made materials, not cotton!). That seals it off. Otherwise, I use a close zig-zag stitch to 'overlock' the ends.

@broccolivirgin You could always also use a chain stitch or blanket stitch (both hand stitches) or if you have a serger...
