I've lost count of how many times Ive seen this movie, 10 maybe, but it just blows me away every time. Can't wait to see the documentary when it comes out on dvd. I remember seeing an episode where roeper was with someone else who didn't like the movie but based on his recommendation I watched it when I saw it was on HBO. So yeah, I owe him a big thank you

Once is more believable, touching, unforgettable...

It gets to the core of the important things in life and doesn't waste your time with unnecessary scenes.

It also has utterly amazing music.

The blend of Carney, Hansard, and Irglova wove cinematic magic while seeming utterly grounded in reality.

this movie showed up at my house after this guy at my local rental recommended it to my dad. my dad and i had absolutely no expectations when we saw it, but when we did see it, we felt almost LUCKY that we saw it. its one of the best movies ive ever seen.

I didn't know about this film until I heard Kris Allen sang the song "Slowly Falling". That song was really amazing that I looked for the original performance by the composers and that led me to watch the film. I watched the movie last night and I was just mesmerized the entire time. I recommend for people to watch this film!

Great review. I bought the DVD and found the movie to be very pure. Awesome advice on having kids sneak in!

I can't believe this movie is rated R. There are many PG13 movies out there whose content are so much more questionable. Shame on you MPAA dinosaurs.

well you can only say the F word once (on some occasions twice) to keep a movie Pg-13, Once says the F word at least 3 times, so that in itself makes the movie R

Must disagree on the "goodness" factor. Many of us think it was awesome. Low budget, in my opinion, has nothing to do with quality. I'll take Once over There Will Be Blood any day!

No arguement there. The opening song so blew me away that when it was done I simply turned to my sister. We were both speechless for a moment and then I said "Did that do to you what it did to me? Still speechless she nodded and we returned our attention the the movie totaly hooked.

I don't do this often with Phillips and Roeper, but this is one of the times I have to say: Total Agreement.

I love the ending, "kids sneak in, sneak in!"

I wish I had seen this charming film in theaters, but I'm glad I saw it eventually.

I found this ammusing: This song went up against three songs from "Enchanted" and one song from "August Rush". August Rush and Enchanted cost loads of money while this tripey little movie cost $150,000.00!
