the new 2010 with the nicer interior now starts at $18,000 and not $15,000 on the website...I personally rather spend under $15,000 for the 2008 model. The new rounded vent in this new model as compared to the square vent on the 2008 can't be use as a holder for my Garmin GPS.

Yeah, they are decent quality, but you NEED to opt for the Manual transmission. The little 4 Cylinder wont be too good on the highway without it.

Plus, Manual transmissions are always a hoot.

yeah i noticed that. i mean, the land rover freelander costs £20,000 and the jeep cherokee costs £21,000. in america, the jeep costs $22,000 and the land rover costs $36,000, but in the uk, you'd be nuts to buy the jeep.

What lol i liked 2008 i looked at! Patriot rear hatch area nice easy clean out. i dont see what all the fuss is. Subaru is a rustarub piece of crap, i do like the scions xb better but they cost a premium. Jeep patriot for $12k makes sense!

A CVT is not an automatic, but it's not far off the mark either. It means "Continuously Variable Transmission", like properlyjaded said. The difference between CVT and automatic is that an automatic uses gears to shift, whereas a CVT uses steel belts. The belts allow for an infinite number of combinations of gear ratios, improving fuel economy. It can automatically shift gears just like an automatic, or you can use its "Autostick" feature to shift between six gears like a manual.

Yeah the silver ones that's in all models after 2005 was the worst move Chrysler has ever made. Chrysler needs better materials, take a chance with the bit of money they have left to improve designs and all their interiors, and maybe they'll get sales back.

Im starting to like the Patriot. The new interior really helps. If only it didn't have such retarded transmission options. So I can either have a manual no one wants, or a terrible CVT no one asked for. Nice.

I think this vehicle is a bit to "classy" for a jeep. love the interior, but the body still just doesnt clash with jeeps "norma;" body stile. i am just happy with my 08 Rubicon

I love Jeep, and I think that these two vehicles weren't the way to go. I think Jeep would be better off with just the Wrangler, Unlimited, Patriot, and Cherokee. Patriot, Compass, and Commander need to go.

Still kind of ugly interior, but a step up from the hideous, cheap-looking previous interior. Pretty much all Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicles have ugly interiors, except for the 300 and the Pacifica. Also, no matter how pretty the interior, that Compass is still one of the ugliest cars to ever hit production, at least in the United States. I don't see how anyone could buy and drive one of those without a bag over their head.

that interior does look alot better than it used to but those vehicles just seem to soft to be a jeep. i would love to see a rally inspired version of one to give it some kind of off road cred and of course i would love to see a serious rally racer to be built on this platform under the jeep name. dodge did it with the cousin of these cars the caliber. jeep has some long forgotten rally history but has dropped off rallying for a few decades.
