  • Eric, the Great ! Blue in blood

  • ohh I just hang my head, shut my eyes and slooow rock to this tune. Ummmm. Makes me wanna ............

  • Love it. Thanks for letting us see this. Gotta luv dem blues

  • M0:00RE!

  • All wannabees put away your plastic "Guitar Hero" rigs so you can see what it's like to REALLY play an instrument.

  • about 200 years old young man playing such a sexy blues

  • Holy crap! I've played along and listened to a lot of versions of this song but I never, ever never thought I'd find a solo as nice as it begins at 4:20! WOW! Putting my Strat away now...

  • this is one of the all time best video's !!!!!

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The music of men that have mastered their instruments. Stunning is the only word I can use.

  • IMVHO this is the absolute best version of this song I've ever heard/saw. Period.

How they play around and within each other it's just mesmerizing. Did you see Eric's happiness at 4:01, when he smiles at the other two because they played the exact same thing at the same time? AMAZING! Awesomeness at work...

  • Clapton steel is a god

  • now this is music!!! goes good with my whiskey :D

the 15 people that "dislike" are clearly a minority lol

  • ahhhh now i need new shorts....

  • Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on me...

  • Oooooooh Myyyy Gooooooooodddd! It melts me down!!

  • GINGER WAS 68

  • As amazing as Clapton's guitar is on this, I have to say that I was more amazed at Ginger Baker on this entire concert. The man was 68-69 years old when this was filmed and was still throwing it down....plus that sizzle ride is the SAME one he used in Cream, how awesome!

  • @NeedlessKane THE MAN WAS 60 WHEN THIS WAS FILMED.LETS NOT MAKE ERIC OLDER TTHAN HE IS>

  • As far as this gig goes, I like Sleepy Time Time better, but this is right up there with Clapton's best efforts. Ya gotta love the blues outta his guitar.

  • FUCK!

  • Absolutely ageless...the music and the band.

  • When and where was this concert ? I would love to see more. I love it!

  • It's a great song, but i'm not sure if they're feeling it

  • And just think they all old enough for free coffee. Still smokin'.

  • Cool music.

  • Best song on the DVD!! I saw them at MSG the next year.... and he ripped it on this song too!! My first concert ever, and I got to see my hero!!! :)

  • HOLY SHIT!!!

    THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!!

  • you know, clapton is such a great singer! if he just played guitar, it would be great, but he sings the pure blues!

  • @wholeinmytree dude clapton is playin guitar!!!! learn somethin bout blues!!! clapton is guitar!!!!!

  • ooooooh damn, this gives me shivers!

  • Down and dirty blues, aah there is nothing better. I love the blues and this is a great classic!!

  • Happy Birthday John Paul!

  • Happy Birthday John Paul!

  • it's raining bitchin' guitar licks!

  • Godly!

  • He's not tryin'

  • feckin A!!!!

what else is there to say?

  • hello again people, any advice here would be greatly appreciated. I am new to guitar playing and blues, what is the pick up switch for and when do i play over the different pick ups, and why? My guitar is bottom of the range and i dont have a tutor etc. Again thanks a lot

  • Don't know what guitar you have but with any guitar - electric or acoustic, the middle of the strings is under the least amount of tension, so picking close to the neck gives a looser, brighter sound like what Clapton has in this video. The end of the strings has the most tension, so picking near the bridge gives a tighter, warmer sound. The pickup switch on an electric guitar lets you decide how much of each sound you want to turn up. Hope this helps.

  • cool, thanks for taking the time.

  • i never thought stormy monday could sound this good on a strat. god bless stacked humbuckers!

  • those are good old fashioned texas single coils. but if you look at claptons rig he has a noise gate so you dont hear any hum. you can tell from the bite and the tone that theyre singles

  • The Clapton signatur has an active circuit, so there is no noise gate..

  • you sure hes playing his signature? and i doubt thats the original blackie, since he put it into retirement before this concert.

  • He retired Blackie in 1985.

  • well there you go

  • He brought it back for one song in the 1991 24 Nights Concerts. I believe it was 'Bad Love'.

I think Clapton used Noiseless pickup's in this concert but i may be wrong.

  • thats a gift from God right there

  • Holy Moley! Ive seen Clapton live and I dont think anyone has a better live sound than him. Always perfect

  • does anybody know what amp is eris using? I noticed he has some Fenders there. But what model??

  • I believe its the TWIN AMP!

  • they're almost certainly either the '57 reissue twin, or the original deal. either way, ace!

  • yes.

  • im not certain if theyre the '57 Deluxe, or the '57 Twin. judging by the volume id say '57 twins. either of those amps is fuckin godly however. it looks to fresh to be an original, so id say theyre probably reissues.

  • They're 57 twins, Clapton's were madr especially for him buy John Suhr with a hotter speaker and valves with more mid-range, also, the wood is an from an old church floor...lol.

He had 3 made for him and gave 1 to B.B King, he also has a few of the originals too I believe. :)

  • man that sounds badass as hell. no wonder his tone was so monstrous at this concert. its amazing that flooring for a church can end up sounding THIS good lol.

  • lol, yep, but what people tend not to think is that as well as the notes an the technique, a lot of the tone comes from the fingers too.

  • well clapton ALWAYS sounds good, but i guess the mixture of those amps, and the highly acoustic nature of the venue just produced something...sublime.

  • I watched this video so many times and I can't get tired of it. This guitar tone sounds so good and you can hardly find somebody who feels the blues like Eric Clapton. This cover is awsome! Thanks for posting this video it made me buy the DVD and it was a one of a kind investment for any blues or rock fan!

  • perfect

  • 5.20-5.40 is just phenominal

  • 00:00- 8:07 is just phenominal !!

  • Not is best solo. oh well

  • poser? comon dude whats wrong with him playing someone elses music... he made it alot better to

  • say rebel, what do you do for a living?

  • Your mom is turning over in her grave

  • Go do some research, the tele jimmy page used in the first album ( I already knew that ) was the DRAGON tele, the BLACK tele was used in late zeppelin, and you said that the 2nd album was recorded with it, you're wrong again, the first album was recorded with it, the 2nd album was recorded with his #1, the latest studio appearence of the DRAGON telecaster was in Stairway to heaven ( the solo ), and the black tele was bought after 75', I hate people that think they are wright when they are wrong!

  • No man, he just started using a black telecaster in late zeppelin

  • Great performance - three guys who get it. Essential music!

  • I would die for that tone, it sound kind of thin and plasticy, but really cool in an other way ^^.. Happy Xmas to all btw :) !

  • over 200,000 views! thank all of you kind people for watching and giving your thoughts. Merry christmas.

  • It says at the start of this song ''Thursday May 5th''

The lyrics say '' Thursday is awful sad'' I thinks this song reflects that perfectly anybody with me on that one??

  • since i discoverd this work of art, about a month ago now, it has been all i have listned to. i wouldn't be suprised if i never listened to any thing eles ever again!!!!

    Merry christmas, all the best.

  • albert collins ,la toca con b.b.king, robert cry de verdad un temaso,,saludos desde peru..

  • señor, ten piedad, ten piedad de mi, porfavor manda a mi mujer de vuelta a casa

  • Cath, we meet again. The all black Telecaster with the black scratchplate, i think are totally cool, Although i think the tone is too tinny.

P.R.S. well Santana, he's the man.

    Me, i'm a Gibson man...cool.

    Merry Christmas.

  • i liked this video :)

    someone want to chat NQ

  • same as ever.....Clapton is greater with Bruce and Baker..that has ring to it....Clapton is greater with Bruce and Baker. Say it 3 times and click on the next video....wheeeeee

  • looks like i started a very interstin discussion here, i am learning so much just from reading comments left on this subject by you guys.....and still have so, so much more to learn! would you be able to tell the difference if Eric was playin this on a les paul?? please pardon my ignorance, like i said i am new to the blues and guitars in general....

  • i like that description of the two, but remember there is also a sort of class that comes along with a good les paul or 335 that gibson has always maintained. they are very kinda like iconic in that they are beautiful lookin instruments as well. that being said there are some fenders out there that make the heart melt

  • Trying to remember how the blues is when Hendrix plays Red House.

  • That there is a Blues outfit - amazing!!

  • That dude in the blue is pretty good!

  • that dude in the blue shirt is god aka Eric clapton the one greatest of all time!

  • Although i'm a Gibson man, his Fender tone is really quite exquisite.

  • im reletivly new to blues and guitar playing....Im a big, big stevie ray vaughan fan. i know he plays a fender and so does clapton, what kind of differeces are there between Gibson and Fender ?? i cant make my mind up on which to buy.......

  • only three men but so much music! that's what it's about..

  • This is more than just music.

  • id have killed to have gone to this show. this is some of the smoothest blues clapton has ever done. absolutely fantastic.

  • new bands should take a long hard look at guys like these...this is music, not the manufactured pop shit that pollutes the radio these days....THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT !!

  • I agree completely . It kinda started with Robert Johnson and led to Chicago from the Delta and finally arrived in Britain in 1961 ..the rest is History. Hope Eric Jack and Ginger are still playing when we are all 80 . They have made musical History!

  • anyone know which minor pentatonic this is based from?

  • of course clapton putting on a great performance like he always does and i think his singing voice has goten more bluesy with age he was my first concert i ever saw and it was a great time

  • All I can say is that I'm bloody glad I was there that night to witness that.

  • The guys dont play. They make embroideries, they 'r so fcking good!!!!

  • old as hell!

    cool as fuck!

  • I Loves his bass guitar.. And I want one, 5 strings will do just fine, active, oh yes, kick ass:)

  • i agree with fadinboy. i think duane perfects stormy monday and greggs vocals are top notch

  • beats the fuck outa xfactor!!!!!!!

  • Saturday night - family occcasion - well p*ssed (but discusied - just) and discovered this - well feckin A!! - the spectrum has a 4th primary colour - CREAM! - God bless us all.

  • There's nothing better than to watch people that are masters of their craft.

  • He's a fucking god

  • gotta love the good older bands

  • Well I absolutely adore Cream and I do enjoy this cover but personally I believe the Allman Brothers version at Fillmore East is far superior. Maybe it's just that it's closer to the original? I don't really know what it is...

  • I know which version you're talking about, and it's damn good as well. Personally I couldn't choose, both have such distinct feels. . .

  • Shitballs. These guys are older than dirt but they can tear it apart like no other. Cream never dies!

  • @fishonfire completely agree they are 1000000000000000000000000 times better than any shit out today and they are like in their sixties

  • there is not yet a word to describe this

  • OMFG!!!!!!!!!

  • how do u get that tone !! oh man i play a bit but i would love to know how he gets that sweet sweet tone man!

  • You can buy a stompbox pedal, the 'Clapton' model, that will get you close to that tone; otherwise you could try a blood transfusion & hope some of that tone is tansfused to your fingers!

  • custom made strat with a 25db boost and...50 years of experience

  • Thanks TBone Walker for composing such a beauty.

The're great but I feel a little rocky beat that breaks the flow.Anyway Cream were a trademark for the rock world.

  • nice tone

  • Brill rendition, so polished. Timeless

  • my fave song from the reunion was "deserted cities of the heart"..on that one i felt like they stepped back in time for a few moments during that performance...at the royal albert hall...

  • WoW,shall we just lay back and chill awhile?

  • Say whatever you want, Ginger, Jack & Eric would by welcome to any studio session done by anyone.

  • my favourite blues song

the guitar riffs and the just wow

    amazing song

  • i dont have the words in my vocabulary to describe how brilliant this performance is.....on a par with SRV and Albert kings back in 1983....SWEEEEEEEEEEET !!!!!

  • I have so much fun listening to this old song...thanks "old" Cream..

  • this is just...so good.

  • highest level of a power trio!

  • Damn woman! You just gave me a heart attack.

  • Damn WOMAN YOU just gave me a heart attack.

  • the turn around isnt as it should be... the bass lines turn around isnt as spread out as it should be....

  • wow....wow

  • Ginger and Jack also great too!

  • too right, Ginger is an sick drummer:)

  • Great version and I also like the unforgettable version of the Allmans at the Filmore....Great master Clapton

  • Wow, by the looks of Ginger Baker's shirt I guess even he is a Cream fan. Who knew? Nice version. Great solo!

  • blues at its finest

  • And the Bass is Awesome too......!

  • Wow, what a great sound!

One of his best plays in after 1990's.

However, even though I went to see this CREAM'S REUNITED concert at the hall, listening this one, it's almost like "Eric Clapton Concert", instead of "Cream". Maybe I'm wrong....

    >modfather2

    "clapton never makes a mistake".

    Actually, he does.

I noticed it and he told me that I was right.

  • No, Eric thought he made a mistake once, but he was mistaken.

  • ginger baker is one of the best drummers alive.

  • clapton never makes a mistake. i always feel at ease watching him!

  • That's what he's known for, hittin' his notes. Hendrix on the other hand... he plays everything, but notes. But yet, it sounds so beautiful!

  • When I saw him in June, he made one mistake. I've never heard him make one since or before. It was on Layla too!!

  • Thank you T-Bone Walker...

  • Proof of why Clapton really is one the real masters of blues-rock. It's a simple song beautifully performed.

  • Ginger Baker looks so funny in this shit hah its awesome how his arms look dead his back is about as straight as could be to

  • In 1966 baby.

  • bry3921 - he brought feedback to Hideaway.

  • wow amazing

  • Bad Ass.

  • Wow, what a great song as we go in this depression.

  • well said, possibly true, but kinda harsh

  • and I really think you should prove it ;)

  • bull shit just because he's a legend and ur not u dont have to be mad i mean we all wish we were clapton

  • you wont smoke the allman brothers, their version of this song as absolutely awesome
