  • En Álava me refiero al aeropuerto de Vitoria-Foronda u otro con menos complicación porque siempre hay que cargar keroseno suficiente para un alternativo que puede estar hasta a 200 nm millas.

  • Ese piloto es malo de verdad, un temerario loco, pero con suerte. Lo digo porque una vez que el tren principal lo tiene en tierra deja que el avión se le vaya a la derecha completamente en vez de darle a los pedales y centrarlo como se suele hacer.

    Es un loco porque uno de esos bandazos te puede hacer tocar el ala y todo se va a la mierda. Se aborta la toma, te haces un circuito y si sigue igual de feo te vas al alternativo, Álava por ejemplo, y sé muy bien de lo que hablo.

  • They should not have been landing there in the first place. They were very close to crash. In almost all the air accidents the pilot error is the cause of accident. You have to be pretty desperate in order to do that.

  • Tampoco es pa tanto, aterrizajes asi los hay muchos. El piloto ser´´a bueno, pero no controla el solito todo. El FBW (Fly By Wire) se encarga de casi todo (por no decir todo)

  • @muri150 Sin control computarizado el avion seria inmaniobrable bajo ciertas condiciones por cualquier humano,no obstante aunq el vuelo en altura es practicament"automatico"por no tener demasiadas variables desfavorables(La situacion ideal no exige mucho)el aterrizaje en si no lo hacen la mayoria d los controles automatizados d vuelo ya q pocos poseen esa capacidad,aunq no tengo conocimiento si este modelo lo posee,esto escapa d la capacidad d la computadora,el piloto debe tener cierta pericia.

    Again medias take spectacular things and make a big foam from usual situation, pointing out danger for people to hincrease audience. but not credibility.

    Most airliners are designed to land with up to 45% crosswind.. since... the B747 is born.

    Here extra long focal gives spectacular effects.

  • Not a normal landing. This is much more than the A320's maximum crosswind component, the pilots should have gone around.

  • One word: Go-around! It may have been a stable approach at the prescribed gates but the last part could only have ended with a Go-Around.

  • Yo tuve un aterrizaje igual en Bilbao en un airbus 320 de IBERIA hace 3 semanas. Iba en ventana, fila 7 creo..segunda vez que vuelo a Bilbao y segunda vez con lo mismo. Ya te digo, ese aeropuerto esta mal emplazado. Eso me pasa por volar en invierno!

  • While I don't have the current weather at the airport where this video was shot, I think I'm safe assuming this is beyond a 38 kt gust (which according to your statement is the max dem. cxwnd for the A320; I don't hold a type rating on this aircraft). Therefore, as you agree, this guy is making himself a test pilot.... with 100x people onboard.

  • Anyone here who thinks this was a great job is definitely not a professional pilot. This should never have been attempted. As BToddB stated, he endangered the passengers... for what? Should have diverted. And I am also a commercial pilot. My aircraft also has max demonstrated crosswind speeds. So what? Does that mean you're going to push the envelope til you have an incident? Like the LH guys? That is the difference between professional and wreckless.

  • A lot of people here have no brains, this was a typical "by the book" go around, but he made a gamble, and that is not professional, but a lot of people do not understand that.

  • A320 Maximum crosswind demonstrated for landing 33 knots gusting up to 38 knots. And this is not a limitation, what DEMONSTRATED over here means is that Flight tests were done with above wind conditions and the airplane was controllable.

    So to say that Pilot is stupid and endangered lives is ignorance on your part. Diverted? Circled until winds died? what are you talking about. Let me ask you just ONE question, can you FLY? I bet you are not a pilot.

    This pilot was stupid just as the Lufthansa pilot was stupid 6 months ago.

    Would you be lauding him if, instead of pulling this off, he managed to drag a wing, causing an accident? I think not.

    Just because a pilot is able to pull one out of his ass, like this guy did, doesn't make him a hero.

  • LH incident 6 months ago it was the gust of wind which picked up the wing, we can't blame pilot until he tries to fly beyond the airplane envelope. When flying within the envelope it all depends on the ability of Pilot, some can do high crosswind landing like butter, for other pilot its almost an impossible task. So where do we draw a line? We all know our limitations and that limitation should not exceed the limitation of the airplane
