i have heard that also, and i believe that you only need to use a stocking or w/e for the first month or so, while your locks are still new. thats when they can fall out easily, if done improperly.

Try Castille Soap. It's a liquid and very safe fir hair and skins, cleans well, and doesn't strip your hair. Plus it's inexpensive! Try the Beauty supply or Trader Joe's supermarket, or Whole foods, or a health food store. You won't be sorry.

I use a shower and I wash mine every 3 days it has actually made my locs tighter, healthier looking and tizzight! You just got to find the right shampoo stay away from fragrances.

NO poo work but you need to clean your scalp and hair. Find a shampoo without Sodium Laurel Sulfate and cleanse away. Young LIving makes some excellent skin conditioning shampoos.

I suggest people with locs (and really anyone with hair) no-poo instead of shampoo. Laureth sulfate is bad for your hair. I have been no-pooing for a month and a half and my locs are now softer and shinier than before. Just google no-poo and find more info.
