  • Does that mean that the landlord will split the bill between everyone in the building, rather than each tenant paying for the water they alone use?

  • @ame9903 It depends on your apartment community. There are some communities out there who do not have separate water meters for each unit in a building. These types of communities may divide the total amount for a building by the number of units to decide what is owed - and either bill or add it to the rent. BUT...there are also many apartments out there that do have separate meters and the water company will bill you for your usage.
